The hotel sheets were very thin, the walls were thin, but there was a bed and a TV. The halls have a shared bathroom for about 8 rooms. The bathrooms were a bit old and run-down, yet clean. It got tricky in the morning when we wanted to shower to have to wait in line.

Well, I think the title of my review should serve as a warning. During my stay the cleaning stay threw away a back containing several toiletry items. They did retrieve the next day, at great inconvenience to me. No compensation was offered, just a filmsy apology. Beware: You should not trust the cleaning staff to know what to throw away and what stays. You will not get good service from the front desk either.

The Hotel Alexander was great for what we were looking for. We wanted as inexpensive as possible for NYC in a great area. That's what we got! We stayed in a room with a double bed and shared bath. We had to wait in the line for the bathroom a few times, so that was a bummer. But we really enjoyed the location. The room was small and nothing fancy, but it was fine to go back to after a long day of sightseeing.

Sharing a bathroom was not a problem as they had plenty per floor. Staff was great helped us find parking and saved us tons of money. They have a small lounge that is perfect for regrouping or to get visitors, no atmosphere it is a bare bones lounge but has a clean bathroom, TV, Computers, and board games. In NYC there is no way you remain in a hotel for long anyway.

I was very satisfied with Hotel Alexander. I was nervous about the shared bathroom part but to my surprise It was very comfortable and we never had to wait for the bathrooms. The room was the perfect size for my boyfriend and I it wasn't too small it was just right for our purpose to sleep! The location was excellent! You can't beat the price for the location it is close to everything. I will definitely stay there again in the future.

I was very surprised when my husband and I arrived at the Hotel Alexander. I will admit the staff was very nice and personable and considering that my husband and I only came there to shop not lounge in our room it wasn't as bad as I had expected.

this hotel was not worth the money. there was a community bathroom that constantly had the toilet clog. at one point the toilet overflowed flooding the bathroom. the rooms for very small. it was more of a walk in closet than a hotel room. they gave us great difficulty in giving us a room with enough bedspace for three people. my daughter had to sleep on the floor. the elevator was possessed. it went to any floor it wanted and not the floor it was supposed to. there was no ice machines or cups to even drink water. i would not recommend this hotel to anyone. they tried to be a classy closet, not a hotel.

Hotel Alexander provided a good location for our recent trip to NYC. Two blocks from the subway and three blocks to Central Park, the Hotel Alexander provided a comfortable room, very affordable price, and convenience. The room was generous for rooms in NYC. Our room had a shared bathroom for the floor. While we initially thought this may not work, we never encountered any conflict over using it.

This hotel was very close to the subway and was a short ride away from anywhere we wanted to go. It was within walking distance of Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks for breakfast. The bathroom was available most of the time we needed it.

Hotel Alexander was clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. We stay in New York City a lot and it was refreshing to have some customer service and clean rooms and bathrooms.

Hotel Alexander is clean, quiet and basically safe. However, the room was very, very small (true, it is Manhattan, but it was not comfortable). The suite did not have a bathroom; rather, everyone shared a community bathroom on each floor. I stored my luggage the day I left in their storage room - but didn't feel safe about this because the attendant just walked off and left me in the room to put my things away (in other words, open access to all guests). It was locked, but I still felt uncomfortable about it. This hotel is functional and has a few amenities (a community lounge room with vending machines and internet access). I would not return to this hotel again.

I expected to encounter the worst, and was pleasantly surprised. The staff was very pleasant, the room was spotless, and sharing a bath wasn't bad at all. There were some problems with guests throwing toilet paper into the toilets, but the staff responded quickly to remedy the problem. The location was in a good area, (safe) with restaurants, subway stops, and other amenities vearby.

I was very dissatisfied with the fact that there was no to tv or bathroom in my room, I had to share.
