FROM LEEDS VIA THE A64: Travel East on A64 Take A1036 towards York City Centre. Pass the Racecourse on right and travel up the Mount and along Blossom Street towards Micklegate Bar. Turn right at traffic lights into Nunnery Lane. Bear left over Skeldergate Bridge and over roundabout. Take first left after roundabout into Piccadilly. QUALITY HOTEL is on the right. FROM THE SOUTH & 64979; M1 AND A1: Travel North on the M1 at Junction 32 take M18 link to AI North, At Junction 2 take AI North. Continue until sign marked York A64 and follow directions as above.

YorkI had my two small girls with me and convenience was essential. The hotel was clean, stylish and comfortable. The parking was simple and close. I had a glitch with internet service but the front desk tried hard to help. Overall, the stay was succesful and pleasant.

The hotel was quiet and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The service was outstanding. The location was great, just a short walk from all the major sights in the wonderful city of York. Near to loads of shopping. This is the second time I have stayed here and would gladly stay here again. Two Thumbs Way Up! CHEERS!

Hotel 53 York is in a great location, 5 minutes walk to all the shops and bars. The lady on the reception was a little weird, she made me walk to the other side of the reception with all my luggage to pay the parking when she could have easily took the money at the first side. It's clean and most of the staff are nice.

Lovely hotel in a fantastic locationOur room was really nice, 6ft bed, flat screen tv with free view, room service meals and drinks and a lovely bathroom.The room was clean and had everything we needed.

while the staff were very freindly and fell over themselves to help us i feel that it was not as good as it could have been. Parking was atrocious requiring you to leave your car in a council car park overnight and although free on sunday i had to get up at the crack of dawn to feed the meter on the monday even though we were leaving that day!Food menu was expensive even breakfast wich,with the price we paid shoul have been included we ate at the wetherspoons over the road,very cheap and good food.!!! the telly was basic with nothing for our three year old to watch (hint,take a freeview box!) and sky one had sound only! Overal, good BASIC accommodation (no wardrobes and limited space) certainly not worth the price,you are paying for the location which to be fair is excellent and the pretentious surroundings. Think "little chef" trying to be "the ritz" and you get an idea

Excellent - will use again.I paid approx £60 for this hotel (room only) on a Sunday night and was not disappointed at all. The room was very clean, service was great, no major complaints. One minor issue which most reviews have already highlighted is the £5 for parking per night but other than that I fully recommend it.

Cut above usual city hotelsMy second visit to Hotel 53 and it's just as good.Get in early to get parked over the road (£10) and you'll find a decent recption area and bar and great modern hotel rooms with lovely bathrooms - all immaculate - with comfortable beds.Plus points are: location, price and quality of roomsMinus points are: Noisy with windows open, slow lifts and disinterested staff

Modern and clean but a bit crampedWe had booked a family room for one night. The room was nice and clean with modern fittings but not family sized. It was a standard (fairly small) room with a bed/settee. The bed/settee touched the double bed when folded down and gave no room to walk around.

Would stay againNot a bad hotel, looked very modern. Room was clean (room 418) but was on the end of the hotel, so a very wide room. If you park in bay 15 in the carpark, you can see your car (if your that way inclined) £10 fee for parking, but the carpark is very secure and gated at 9pm till 6am which I thought was excellent. Bit noisy with scrotes being drunk walking past the hotel during the night and as the room wasn't air conditioned we had to have the windows open. Very good place to stay and around 5 mins walk to the main shopping bits of york. I would deffinatly stay here again if I went back to York. Staff on reception were very friendly and gave us maps and told us of the best places to eat and drink etc etc. Restaurant looked very clean and was busy although we never ate there. (went to La Tasca, don't forget your 50% off voucher from there website)All in all a good hotel and I'd recommend it, not the hotels fault there are chavs about !!

Ideally located hotel for York sightseeingI booked this hotel as a last minute get away for my husband and I. It had been recommended to me by some family members.On arrival, we popped in to the hotel to ask if we could leave the car in their car park and pop back at 3pm to check in. We were told we were able to check in there and then at 12pm. Very impressive start. Receptionist was very friendly and helpful.The room was very nice. Complete with a fan which is what we needed as the weather was very warm. Nice little TV with freeview on. The desk area was a little dusty but the overall cleanliness was very good. We walked in to York City Centre in about 4-5 minutes, and walked from the Minster to the hotel in about 15 minutes. Very good location.Breakfast was lovely. Staff were very helpful and a varied range of hot and cold food was available.One downside was having to pay £10 on top of the room rate to park the car.....but other than that, the hotel was perfect for our weekend getaway :) Would definitely stay there again.

Lovely modern hotel in a cracking locationThis is an absolute gem in the middle of York and believe me, I'm a fussy girl.The lady on reception was cheery and helpful, and the room was bright and airy, with a wonderfully modern bathroom (great big shower - hurray), and large comfortable bed. You're just a hop skip and jump from all the great pubs down by the riverside, and a five-minute walk from the town centre. Their 24-hour parking rate is a very generous fiver. Have to say the man on the desk at 3am was a little deadpan, but I was slightly tipsy to say the least.

Great weekend break.We were travelling with our young daughter and baby. We found the accomodation to be a good size but did need to fold the sofa bed up until needed as it took up all of the room! The breakfast was very good and the staff were both polite and friendly, especially to the girls. The only drawback was the noise from the road outside of our window, it did appear to be the hen do capital the weekend we were there, but it didn't stop us having a very relaxed weekend away. We would definitely use the hotel again.

Pleasant and centralPleasant newish hotel, located on a slightly bleak road but it doesn't matter since central York is compact and everything worth seeing is within a short walk. Parking was available right opposite. Smallish rooms, but well-appointed, and quiet.
