San Lorenzo, Madrid - nice staff but noisy hotelThe staff at San Lorenzo was very friendly and helpful, the room was clean as was the hotel in general, but I expected a bit better for a superior double bedroom, which was really tiny. The hotel is set in an old building and although you can't hear noise from the street, noise from other bedrooms and corridors were very annoying...and never seemed to stop. Generally the hotel was OK, but do bring in ear plugs.

Enjoyed my time at the hostal. The service provided was excellent. The only problem being that we booked a double room (as we were a couple) and got twin beds and that the shower curtain fell down every time we had a shower! Else top marks for location and cleanliness.

Great hotel in extremely central location close to Gran Via, Puerta Sol and lots of bars/restaurants. For the money it was fantastic, my only gripe would be that the beds are not very comfortable and it can get quite noisy. Recommended for those on a budget though.

The room was small and basic but was clean and good value for money. The location is perfect as a base to explore the city and is very close to Gran Via metro station. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would book this hotel again.

Excellent service, I managed to get a beer from the hotel bar at 5am!

The San Lorenzo hotel is conveniently situated close to the centre of Madrid and underground stations. It is set-back from the main road, resulting in less traffic noise, though what outside noise there is, is muffled by good window shutters, which also keep the room nice and dark for sleeping. There is free internet in reception which proved useful, although on occasion it was monopolised by people who must believe that updating their Facebook site is hugely important. Clean hotel, pleasant staff, I would recommend it to couples but perhaps not people with a baby as the room we stayed in was a little cramped. I would stay there again.

The hotel is 5 mins walk away from Gran Via metro stop in the Centre of Madrid. Its location means easy to walk to all attractions - however those who don't want to walk the Madrid Vision bus stop is 1 min away on Gran Via. You can buy you Madrid Vision passes from the hotel reception. Hotel was very clean and was happy that the airconditioning worked. There is a small shop where you can buy large bottles of water for 1 euro which is handy for the day. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel as there was a great cafe 'Vitamina' 2 mins away - great coffee and bacon roll for 2.50 euro!

Reception staff very helpful and knowledgable, senior man is fluent in many languages. Our room was spacious and very clean, but no view - however it was very quiet and we slept well each of the 4 nights. We had room only, so didn't eat there. The are plenty of Tapas Bars and a lovely restaurant called El Original nearby. It was near to the Metro and very central to walk easily to many of the main attractions. The hotel is pleasantly appointed with nice furniture and an Internet facility, which is available 24hrs. We would have no hesitation in recommending this Hostel, which is more like a good hotel.

The hotel wasn't very hard to find. It was in the center of the city which was nice. We didn't have to pay for any transportation besides getting to and from the airport.
