passes this 'hotel inspector' test!My friends and family tease me that I often behave like the Hotel Inspector; if that's true, the Hope Street Hotel wouldn't make much of a TV show - there's not much to put right. It's comfortable, clean, stylish, and the staff are excellent. I like real coffee in the room [& fresh milk available], a good bathroom, and good quality bedlinen. I question the charge for a newspaper - they could just offer the one they get free. See? Only one tiny, picky fault!

Good hotel and locationFour of us (2 couples) stayed at Hope Street on a Saturday night - good location to walk into town. The rooms are very nice, modern and minimalist - all great quality, very comfy bed - I would recommend a luxury double rather than a standard double - walk in shower and big bath, definitely worth the extra money. We ate in the London Carriage works - food disappointing though I may have overhyped it myself as I'd been wanting to eat there for a while. However, breakfast next morning wasn't that great either - my requested poached eggs on toast arrived as 2 poached eggs served on a tiny side plate - no toast. Trying a bit too hard to be quirky I think - either that or they totally got my order wrong! Staff excellent and very accommodating. Overall a good, though not superb, stay.

CharnocksLovely stay, stayed in the new part of the hotel large suite on two levels overlooking the city, spotlessly clean, huge bathroom. Close to Everyman theatre at end of road, great location also for Philarmonic.

Really, really nice roomsReally, really nice rooms. Great (and very large) beds, well-furnished with LCD TVs and CD/DVD players as advertised. Lovely bathroom too, with a bath and shower over with rainforest shower heads (although the water took ages to warm up and how the controls work isn't immediately obvious). Loads of really nice touches such as complimentary water, free toiletries and for those who want them a pack of cosmetic accessories such as cotton buds, cotton wool balls and pads, facecloths and bathrobes. The only negatives were the absence of air con in what was (unusually) hot and very humid weather (air con is apparently being installed in the new extension under construction) and the fact I couldn't get the free broadband they supposedly had to work on my laptop. I'd also have liked breakfast included in the price. ;-) That said, I'd very happily stay again - the staff were very friendly and helpful, while Hope Street itself is nice and has some very good restaurants (I had a delicious meal in Ego almost opposite).

Best bed in the North West!Lovely chatty welcome from staff before finding our room and the a gigantic bed with the softest goose-down duvet and pillows. Great rain shower for washing away the hangover too. The bathroom, furniture and linen were spotless, though the blinds were a little grimy, but we think that was simply age-related. We only stayed one night, simply out of convenience on a works night out, and got a great deal on LateRooms. I wish we'd been staying longer though - or perhaps I could take the bed home?!

We had booked a meal at the carriage works and decided at the last minute to stay at the hotel. As usual the room was great and we will definitely be staying again soon. The meal was great quality although the service was a bit slow (we waited about an hour for our starter).

The general feeling of the hotel was really good. Specifically, parking was initially a pain, and the food was pretentiously served on slates. Both these issues detracted from what could have been an excellent experience.

Our room was well furnished and had a lovely bathroom, however there was no air conditioning and thus proved a very uncomfortable stay, a table top fan did not have the desired effect.

Great weekendLovely the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Brought up fresh milk, extra tea bags really quickly when asked. Very comfy bed and great shower, once we workd out how to work it. Would be good to have an ipod docking station rather than a CD library but that's the only thing I can really complain about.

Prior to arriving I asked about parking, and was told it wasn't an issue etc. When I arrived I was told I had to pay a £10, which was news to me, and did annoy me as I had asked about parking and not been told. The room was stylishly decorated, but I got the distinct feeling the over recent years not much attention was given to maintaining the room. The thermostat didn't work, so the room was quite chilly, still brought back memories of camping with the Scouts. Finally the blinds in the bathroom were not fitted well enough so the pedestrians got to see me taking a shower. However, we did enjoy our stay in the hotel, although I am not entirely sure why???

My new opinion of LiverpoolHave to say was a bit biased in my view of what to expect from the week-end break in Liverpool but the Hope street hotel exceeded all my expectations - we all read reviews about places but tend to have varying experiences but this one exploded all my ideas of what a great hotel is all about, fun, vibrant but respectful - well done Hope Street you get my vote and will be telling everyone i know about you.

Hope Street Hotel, LiverpoolMy 8 year old daughter and I stayed for one night and we were really pleased with the accommodation - we had everything we needed, the room was spacious, clean and beautifully furnished. We could open the windows for some fresh-air, which we like, and were the right temperature at night. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only slight niggle was we couldn't find the hotel! We walked up and down Hope Street a couple of times, before entering the restaurant downstairs (London Carriage Works, or something like that) to enquire where it was, only to be told we were in it! The address on my invoice was Hope Street, so perhaps they need to change this, as the entrance is round the corner on Hope Place, or put a sign up on Hope Street.

First visitI was impressed with the standard at this hotel. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. My room was very clean and comfortable. Bar food purchased was very reasonable price wise and enjoyable. Only quibble would be the slamming of doors by other guests at various times during the night which disturbed my sleep. Perhaps the hotel should display notices about giving consideration to other guests etc.....Will definitely stay again when in Liverpool.

Brilliant!!!!This is the second time we have stayed at the Hope Street Hotel after finding it on Late Rooms last year. Again we had an exceptional stay. It was my fiance's 30th birthday and what a weekend. The staff were lovely (especially the night manager who had to put up with us staggering in after enjoying Liverpool's fabulous nightlife!) and we were up graded to a suite which was amazing!!!! All in all an absolutely wonderful hotel in a wonderful city!!!

Hotel seemed really good but there was a major power, water and gas outage so we didn't end up staying. The hotel staff were really helpful with these difficulties and did everything they could. It was just easier for us to go home. However it looked nice from what we saw and would have no problem staying there again.
