Hongshan Hotel Urumqi

The Hongshan Hotel ( Hongshan binguan ) is a favorite with backpackers for its location in the center of town, at the junction of Xinhua Bei Road and Guangming Road. This hotel is adjacent to some of the major scenic spots, and the Red Mountain , Peoples Park and the bus stop for Tian Chi are all near by. The hotel has 139 rooms, all clean and comfortable. There is also a dormitory here offering cheaper accommodation and hot showers are available across the courtyard. The hotel's Muslim restaurant is famous for its "roast whole lamb" and instant-boiled mutton. There are also Chinese and Western Restaurants on the premises. The hotel has a large travel information center and its own tour service, offering tours of Xinjiang and to other provinces in China. Most of the staff here are really friendly students, keen to practice their English language skills on foreigners. If your budget is tight, and you are looking for a centrally located hotel, the Hongshan is a good choice.
