We reserved 2 queens and got 2 doubles. The room smelled bad and the plaster was peeling off of the bathroom wall. Yuck.

Clean and spacious rooms with perfect view on Downtown Los Angeles, good breakfast and pool are assets, just the location does not satisfy people that would like to use public transport (next metro station is a half hour's walk away, and the (neighbour-)hood isn't inviting either, so we preferred not to stay out after dark.

We were in LA for the taping of American Idol so we just needed a hotel room convenient to the Nokia Theater. This hotel is 2 miles away, so that was great. We arrived at midnight and checked out at 7 am. I wouldnt want to stay longer than that. Run down residential neighborhood with bars on all the windows. Hotel manager was very nice. Our room was on the busy street and we were awakened by traffic noise in the am and the shower pipes from the room next to us. The furniture was badly stained and the carpet was dark and ugly. No free coffee in room - they advertise the hair dryer and AC and those plus the TV were the only amenities. Granite countertop in remodeled bathroom but rest of room very old and depressing. Clean sheets and a nice firm mattress. Don't stay here unless you just want a place to crash.

It is a very nice Inn. It closes to downtown. The only problem is no internet.

The rooms are large enough, but they have been in need of updating for a long time. The internet service is painfully slow and the nieighborhood after dark is a little intimidating. Pollo Loco up the street has good grilled chicken, but it's still just fast food within walking distance. To call it Hollywood is a stretch.

The continental breakfast needs much improvement (only gooey donuts and rolls were provided along with coffee and powdered orange juice). Even though the hotel was not at full capacity, the hotel staff initially denied our request for additional towels and pillows. They DID fulfill our request late in the evening that first day. The room was large, clean and comfortable. The air conditioning worked very well as did the shower, sink etc.. I beleive that with some minor, inexpensive changes and perhaps more attentive and cordial staff, this hotel would easily receive higher scores.

The people at the front desk wore really rude and hard to understand the room are OK nothing spercial about them i try to get internet for 2 days and never got it working i think they wore pulling my leg everytime i went to the front office and tols them about it the were like ohhh my friend will have it running in 1hr well that one hr became 2 days so i just gave up... what ever the room service are really slow

This Hotel was ABSOLUTELY disgusting! I'm so glad we only stayed one nite. THe blankets were OBVIOUSLY unwashed, there was a bloody band-aide in the restroom on the floor, and the trash cans were not emptied. Our nite was spent trying to avoid getting diseases or infection from the room. It is very close to Highway 101, but that didn't make up for the awful time we had. And, there were terrible donuts in the morning. The pool was ABSOLUTELY FILTHY! I wasn't planning to swim anyways, but seeing the pool made me GLAD i didn't bring my suit! THE WHOLE PLACE IS FOUL! Invest a little more in a HALFWAY DECENT place! DON't WASTE YOUR MOEY OR TIME HERE!!!!! I IMPLORE YOU!!!!!

This hotel was very clean. The staff there were polite. The room was very big and had enough space for the two of us. The closet space was well oraganized. most of the things you can shove in a suitcase were there iron, ironing table, hair dryer etc. Theres so many cars but then it could have been the holiday traffic. overall my stay here was very well enjoyed and i would recommend this hotel to a friend.

I stayed at the Hollywood Express Inn South for 7 days and 8 nights while on vacation in LA. If you have a lot of money and want something more luxurious with restaurants/bars, then don't stay here. Also, if you want to be closer to the main attractions of LA like Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, then don't stay here. If you're looking for a decent, plain motel in LA without paying a lot of money, then stay here. The location isn't too bad. I didn't have any problems with safety. It's in a central area, between downtown LA and Hollywood. It's better to have an automobile while staying at this hotel, because the buses by the hotel don't run too rapidly and are very slow at times. There aren't any nice restaurants nearby either. The motel had a nice, large room. The bed was comfortable. There weren't many channels on the TV, but why come to LA just to watch TV? The bathroom was clean. The heat worked well. Everything was neat for the most part. I didn't use the pool, but it appeared to be clean, yet small. The staff was friendly. Overall it's not a bad place to camp out while exploring the City of Angels. It's not luxury, but it's not a dump either.

Our stay was a mixed bag. The check in was friendly and last minute due to a mix-up at another motel. The room needed some cleaning (light switches and doors were grimy). My wife bought some cleaner for that. The beds are a little hard. Some confusion when we extended our stay. They acidentally rented the room to someone else who walked in on my wife in bed. i got home later, and was awoken in the middle of the night to come down to the front desk to straighten it out. We got it straight, but it was a little upsetting. At least this staff was friendly. At the other motel they wer very uncooperative and rude. I would recommend this place for someone looking for simple accomodations. Nothing fancy here, but friendly staff.

Hollywood Express Inn is in a great area and very accessible to the freeway. The room was clean and comfortable with two queen size beds. There are plenty of eating places in the area. We were on the 1st floor which was more convenient for the amount of bags we had. The hallway on the 1st floor needs more lighting and the carpet could be cleaned better!

Room was not ready until after 4:30 in the afternoon. I had to keep calling down to the lobby for someone to come clean the room. Finally after 4-5 calls I tracked down a maid and bribed her with 10 dollars to please clean the room. The management seemed to care less about my situation, even when I asked for a different room he just kept saying my room was goint to be cleaned within 10 to 20 minutes, which never happened. I am very dissatisfied with this hotel and will never NEVER stay there again!!

I do not recommande this hotel at my worst ennemy, we have continental for breakfast donut with a very bad coffe, no milk just milk in powder, the wife of my friend ask for a supplementary pillow, my friens as to disput to have it, they know that we AR 4 PERSONS, but they give us only 2 0r 3 towel, they close air conditionning during the day, so when we arrive it is so hot, we ask for a good restaurant, they send us at the MCDONALD It is so bad like service with a service like that i will close door in my business so i hope that client that they want to lease a motel choose an other place

This hotel was absolutely horrible. We we first check into our hotel room, it was a complete mess. The room smelled horrible, the comforter and bed sheets were all over the bed and there were used towels laying on the sink. We called to notify the manager about this problem and it took over a hour for the maids to come clean up our room. Later towards the middle of the night we had strangers knocking at hotel door, screaming and yelling. It was really creepy. It maybe a cheap place but it is difinitely not worth spending your money on it.

I chose to stay here based on room cost and location, but after experiencing the rock hard beds, dingy bathroom and razor wire surrounding the property, I won't be a returning customer. On a high note, they have HBO and excellent water pressure in the shower.
