PleasureStayed here again as it is convenient for us to access family from here. Lovely clean room, bedding too, facilities good, bathroom clean, plenty of hot water and lovely clean towels. Staff lovely and friendly, always willing to help. We were B & B so great value and loads of choice. Would stay again, lovely place.Only one downside - drinks in bar far too expensive - and restaurant food expensive too. Many guests went to Fox & Roman across the Road as drinks were very, very much cheaper than the hotel, as were their superb meals. Think hotels should take the hint on prices and maybe their bar/restaurant would be full too.

Directly across street from an unbelievable pub! Ultra thin walls which allowed me to hear the monster snoring in the room next door. Ear plugs would not help either. It is a basic hotel. Clean with no frills. Make sure you stipulate the bed arrangement and no adjoining door to your room if you are a light sleeper.

This hotel is old and is trying to look up to date. The rooms are shabby and there are no ice machines. If you are still in your room when they come to make it up, they never come back. It was not up to my standards.

Enjoyable stay. 2.5 km from York. Regular bus service at top of road meant not having to drive in and Park.Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Room spacious and comfortable. Breakfast superb! Only downside was cost of drinks in the bar, over £6.00 for 1 175ml glass of red wine!!

Nothing. The cost of drinks. Based on my recent experience at the above hotel.

Generally ok, but a few glitches: 1. The type of room booked was not the room given on checking in and my choice was not made available, nor any alternative offered; 2. Reception was unable to produce an invoice showing my address as being in Germany, only 'Great Britain' (???). This cost me a lot of time at reception and I eventually couldn't wait any longer.

They accommodated an extra person without much ado. Pretty setting. The front desk personnel were not friendly. The hotel was outside of the city center, but in a quaint area. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of delicious foods. Our room met all our needs.

Spacious room and nice shower. The view is bad and the roof of the restaurant look ugly from above.

Would recommend this hotel!Stayed with two teenage children. Family room - clean fresh and tidy. Good location - just short bus trip into centre - buy a day saver! Staff nice - food great - especially breakfast. Would return to this hotel and have recommended it to friends already!

Family rooms don't live up to the nameOn this holiday, we stayed in a different hotel every other night as we moved around. Of all the places in we stayed in, this was by far the worst. You couldn't swing a cat in that room. Yes, it sleeps a 2+2 family .... barely. It then is so cramped that you get claustrophobic. My wife will certainly not forget the sight of me sitting on the toiletseat to drink my tea after putting the kids to bed, as there was only one chair. Makes for a great holiday. To the hotel: It is difficult enough travelling with small children in hotels, as you have no door to close once they are in bed. So you either go to sleep yourself when they do, or you sneak about, hoping to maybe read a little. You are offering standard double bed rooms up as family rooms, which just isn't on. We stayed in other Holiday Inns on the trip and this hotel was by far the most uncomfortable. We couldn't wait to get out of there.

Pleasing Experience My husband and I stayed for three nights at the Holiday Inn this was our second stay at this Hotel. We recieved a friendly welcome and our room was clean and comfortable. All the staff were friendly and if asked for help gave it willingly. On both occassions we have stayed at a reduced rate and would possible not use the hotel if we had to pay the full rate.

Very pleasant stayWe just stayed at the hotel overnight as we were going to an event just outside York the next morning. We were very pleased with the room - unfortunately there seemed to be a problem with the air conditioning but we just opened the window. We liked the shutters on the windows as they blocked out all the light. We arrived at breakfast just as it opened, as we had a very early start, and already there was a great selection of food. The staff were very helpful and polite. There is a bus service to take you into town just across the road from the hotel.

Everything we needed for the two days we were spending in York - convenient location with easy parking and easy to find; good service and food in the restaurant. Room was fine as we only had to pay £69 including breakfast which was very good indeed. However, had we been paying full price for the room I would have been disappointed as the decor was somewhat tired and in need of updating. All in all a pleasant experience and I would stay there again - at the right price!

the hotel was in a very good position, the city centre was within walking distance. The only complaint i would have was that the room sometimes smelt of cigarette smoke . Otherwise we were very happy with the hotel and would stay again.

Bar & restaurantBar prices very expensive compared to local pubs, even allowing for usual hotel differentials; £3.35 per pint compared to £2.10.Buffet breakfast; quality of coffee was disappointing. The cabinet meant to keep food hot was not really doing its job.Bread available for toasting had obviously been in the freezer and had not defrosted properly.Alos[separately] the receptionist who checked us in stated that the bookind was room only, relenting when I showed her the printed reservation which stated that breakfast was included.

Great MotelWe really enjoyed our stay, it was such a lovely pleasant location, quiet at night, room of a very high standard and we were given a warm welcome on arrival. The breakfast was fantastic and we would certainly recommend it to anyone and will certainly stay here again on our next visit to York
