This is a great hotel - I heard other travelers in the lobby compare it unfavorably with a higher-end hotel next door which I have also stayed in - and of the two, I preferred the Holiday Inn! Rooms are large and clean, with mini-fridge and microwave as well as the usual coffee etc. Being right next to Vanderbilt, the hotel is in easy walking distance of numerous dining options from white-tablecloth to fast food. It's also on West End Avenue, a straight shot into downtown Nashville (about 10 minutes even in 8am traffic). I'd definitely stay here again.

The back of the hotel has a cool great view of Vanderbilt's stadium. Its a well worth the money spent on this hotel. We decided to stay another day and they price matched a lower priced hotel near by.

My daughter and I stayed there recently on a visit to a nearby college. The location is great and there was abundant free parking in their lot. Close to the Parthenon, food and shops. It is also only a mile or two to the downtown bar scene and museums. The check-in attendants were very friendly and courteous. I had read recent posts about the remodeling. Rooms have been updated nicely; flat screen t.v., new carpet, sheets, updated shower with sliding glass doors, granite/marble looking counters in the bathroom. Everything was exceptionally clean. The room even had a microwave and refrigerator which was a plus. The only thing I didn't like was the bed- hard as a rock!!

I was returning to Nashville for a quarterly business meeting and was unable to get my usual downtown hotel. I had heard, second hand, that the Holiday Inn Select Vanderbuilt was a good place to stay. I would not have considered it at all except it advertised a free shuttle service to locations within a 3 mile radius, with my meeting location 2 miles away. What the site and staff neglect to tell you is that the hotel has a contract with baseball teams. The teams get first priority, no one else can ride the shuttle when a baseball team is on the shuttle, it takes at least three trips for the shuttle to get a team where they need to go, and apparently only a team can reserve the shuttle. I waited over an hour in triple-degree temperatures for the shuttle. Everytime I called, the shuttle was "just another few minutes." Taxi from the hotel to the downtown area in no traffic is about * Aside from the shuttle issue, the hotel was adequate. The rooms were ok, the staff were ok, etc. There are two in-house dining options - a restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch, and a sports bar that is open all day and provides room service until 11 p.m. The room service menu is limited. I did like the hotel's proximity to the Parthenon replica in Centennial Park and to Ruth Chris' Steak House.

The lobby was under renovation, but I guess they'd completed the work on the upper floors. We stayed on the top floor and had a great view of Vanderbilt stadium. The room had brand new carpet, and was overall very nice. Parking was easy and free, the people at the desk were helpful and friendly (provided us with free razors and shaving cream as we'd forgotten to pack these.) Only negative comment would be the internet access in the lobby. I'm not sure whether there's wi-fi in the hotel as we did not bring any computers with us, but we wanted to use the computers in the lobby to print our boarding passes for the flight home. The computer was PAINFULLY slow and only 1 of the 2 computers was hooked up to the printer. So we had to sit there and watch this inconsiderate guest check the news and weather for 30 minutes so we could use the computer he was on to print. Also the bathroom door didn't close all the way, but we propped it shut and didn't really care. Would definitely stay here again.

Overall not a bad experience. The hotel is in a good location right across the street from the Centennial Park, close to restaurants, bars and Vanderbilt and a short drive to downtown. They have a free shuttle to downtown too, but I think it stops running relatively early. The worst feature here was the bed. It didn't feel very clean (although I didn't see any stains) and the mattress was sagging. The room was also pretty small. I would go back there again, if I had a short trip and didn't plan to stay in the room much other then to sleep.

Great location close to Vandy campus. Recent (within the last year or so) upgrades to bathrooms, carpeting, lobby, restaurant are great. Staff very friendly. Free parking!

Very convenient + free local shuttle (3 mile radius). Exterior leaves much to be desired.

This hotel required me to prepay reservation in advance for executive room, room not available upon check-in and no comparable alternative offered. NO REFUND OFFERED! I paid executive price for standard room.

fire alarm went off at 5am and therefore we did not receive the buffet breakfast, lobby was crowded and hotel staff did not get everyone out of the hotel by the time fire department got to hotel, no fire but if there had been someone could have been seriously injured

Beautiful lobby and incredible convenience to Vanderbilt. Lots of young smokers outside for songwriter nights.

We loved the location of the hotel being right across from the Park. We wanted to visit Vanderbilt University and it was a short walk away. Finally, we liked the short drive to downtown Nashville to see shows and take in the historical sites.

Clean, location. Breakfast was the quality of a free breakfast, but 15 dollars.

This hotel is in a great location. However, it is very outdated, the rooms are small, and the entire hotel has a strange odor. We were traveling with a 6 month old baby and given a smoking room, which smells very bad. Very disappointed with the choice. I would rate this hotel a 2-star at the most. Don't overpay.

The room was absolutly beautiful! The bed was comfortable and all of the amenities were wonderful. It was only a block away from Vanderbilt University.

Free shuttle service to and from attractions within 3 miles of hotel. Nothing comes to mind.

The hotel was comfortable and clean. I would recommend staying there.
