Date of Stay:
April, 2009
I visited my son for Easter at Univ of Pitt. We went to Phipps Conservatory, explored different neighborhoods, shops, restaurants, etc.

Very convenient for Medical Test at UPMC. Cost of parking. Very nice hotel. Extremely convenient if you need to have medical procedures done at UPMC facilities in Oakland section of Pittsburgh.

Extremely clean, exceptionally courteous staff; a little pricey, but in this case you do get what you pay for. Great shuttle too.

The Holiday Inn Select at the University of Pittsburgh campus a good place, but, stay at this hotel when you don't need the heat or the air conditioning. The room heaters make so much noise that we had to turn it off and put on an extra blanket just so we could sleep in comfort. Stay far away from the hotel restaurant. The Sunday brunch is overpriced and under quality. Service during any meal on any day is poor at best. We waited 15 minutes to be acknowledged after sitting, and sat patiently for another 30 while waiting for our order. We ultimately bolted for the door, sans meal, and ate on the road on our way home. Facility = acceptable Restaurant = avoid like the plague

Eatery was excellent, staff overall friendly, and rooms generally clean. Inconsistency with shuttle drivers, snack shop not affiliated with hotel, and shuttle has limited convenience. Holiday Inn select has apparently re-branded itself across the board, and I believe the most visible change is in the pillows! This location not tremendously local unless you have business with the colleges in the immediate area. Hotel was clean though, Bridges(the eatery) is a very attractive place to eat a quality meal. Hotel staff was friendly and knowledgeable, mostly. The biggest negative is the courtesy van had limited use, and was banned from going downtown. I liked that the business center was free.

I was in Pittsburgh on business and stayed in an executive suite with a king bed. It was very clean, on the ninth floor, and pleasant decor. They had pillow options, firm or soft, which was very nice. Great pillows and great bed, which was the most important thing for me. The bathroom was also very nice and contemporary. Overall, very nice, contemporary decor and clean place to stay. The restaurant is also nice, with polite staff. Only down-side is the cost, which is a bit on the expensive side. I think I could have found comparable accommodations at a better price, but the location was ideal for me.

Great people and close to University.

Stayed overnight on a business trip and was impressed by the personal, professional service, the large, well-appointed room and bathroom, and good room service food. The air handler is a bit loud and could use a ""low"" setting as opposed to being either ""high"" or ""off"".

Very clean and good value for the money. The pillows were not firm enough.

I found the service at this hotel extremely exceptional. Cleanliness was also very good. However, sleeping was difficult due to the fluctuation in temperature and accessibility of fresh air. For example, when the air flow was at a minimal, it was hard to breath. When the air was on I could breath but I was freezing. I suppose I would jump out of bed in a panic, half asleep, due to allergens already in my system. If this was an allergy free room, however, I would stay again.

The hotel was very conveniently located in Oakland near Shady Side. I was able to walk to nearby restaurants. The room was spacious & well appointed. The gym was a bit small and sparse. The hotel was very conveniently located near the University of Pittsburgh and other Oakland attractions. The room was very comfortable and well appointed and quiet.

They tried to charge me extra $ 20 for two bed room.

The restaurant was nice. The floor and couch in my room were stained in several places. Parking $18.00. This hotel in not 3 star. The rooms looked more like a motel room. The area was not the best there is a lot of construction and parking was $18.00 a day. No valet service. Not friendly nor accommodating. I changed rooms twice, there was no satisfaction. Very noisy during the day and dirty sheets were left in the hall throughout the day. There were also room service trays left in the hall all day long. The towels were not fluffy, very old and worn. There was a very small convenient store in the lobby and the business center was decent.

Great location for visiting Univ. of Pittsburgh. Parking was expensive and no complementary breakfast.

Location. Excellent hotel, centrally located to both the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University.

Very clean, proximity to the U of Pittsburgh. Paying $18.00 for parking. Great location for a visit to see the U of Pittsburgh. The hotel is situated just behind the Alumni Building which is where the admissions office is located. We ate breakfast at the hotel. Very nice restaurant - enjoyed the food and had prompt service.

Great location. My only complaint was having to pay $18 per day for parking.
Date of Stay:

The hotel was very clean, safe and met my expectations. The price for parking in the parking lot. $18.00 per day was pretty steep for me, so I used metered parking. The hotel was located in a safe environment. The hotel is on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh. There were not a lot of college students around during the time of my stay, which made it more peaceful. The only thing I did not like was the price for parking in the hotel parking garage, which was $18.00 per day. The hotel also does not have refrigerators/microwaves in the rooms.

Convenient to university. Fee for parking. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. Rooms were spacious and came with many amenities. Conveniently located in the heart of the University of Pitt.
Date of Stay:

Extremely close to major universities. No water in the fitness facility and vending machines did not work. We just walked out of the hotel to the next building to attend the University of Pittsburgh admissions tour.
