We always enjoy staying at this hotel as our son lives close by. For this visit there were young people there for a basketball event. Maybe the hotel could take into consideration in the future to not put "adults" on the same floor. These boys opened and slammed their doors shut all night long.

The Inn has undergone renovations the past year or so, but even more impressive than its improved decor is the courteousness and professionalism exhibited by the entire staff. Everyone is very helpful and always greets you with a smile. We have even received assistance from the more than helpful General Manager when we inquired about a specific type of room. He personally ensured we received exactly what we requested. The location and fantastic new in-house restaurant are two more reasons why this is undoubtedly the best hotel in Gainesville, FL.

The only thing good about this hotel is its location to the University of Florida and its dedicated staff. Otherwise, for a few dollars more stay at the Marriott hotels. The Holiday Inn University has seen better days, and a few coats of paint, and new carpet will not solve its problems. The hotel needs updating, just because your guest have limited choices in hotels in Gainesville is no reason to try to charge inflated prices. The rooms at this hotel should be more in the range of a night or less. Yet, they want about . The Marriott down the road can come in at and it has more amenities. The cafe next to the hotel also needs an upgrade, but the staff there is friendly, courteous and young. Probably college students on a part-time job. I did not eat at the restaurant, just had a drink there. Also, though I saw cleaning products on the custodian's cart, the bathroom in my room smelled of urine and it was nauseating. I tried to freshen it up with mouthwash since I didn't have cleaners with me.

I loved this hotel, the staff is so great, they go so far out of their way to make sure you are happy with you room and enjoying your stay with them. Hotel has been remodeled and looks great. The employees treated me like their long lost cousin from the guy that cleaned the lobby every day to the maid that cleaned my room to the security dude that was there everytime I left the building. I will be staying here everytime I go to Gainesville. Go Gators

The Holiday Inn Gainesville was in a great location when it comes to the proximity to the University of Florida. We went down to the football game and didn't know whether we would have to walk far, get a cab or what. Well, the University was across the street and the stadium was 5 blocks away. The hotel is also close to the downtown area. They also have a shuttle that will pick you up and drop you off at the airport. Our room was very clean and cool. Very enjoyable time.

I have stayed here twice for school, but won't stay again. The rooms smell (My first the bed had a terrible odor). They renovated the rooms, but they are still dirty. The proximity to UF is great, but the neighborhood is suspect. I don't feel good about leaving my car there overnight.

Very clean. We were on the 5th floor and my brother-in -lawand we had to go to the 3rd to smoke. All in all the hotel was very clean and staff very nice - the only thing was the smoking part- if I do stay in this hotel next year - I will ask for the third floor.

April 4, 2007 - Gainesville, Florida: I just checked out of the Holiday Inn - University Center located just across the street from the University of Florida. I travel 5-days a week. This hotel was comfortable, clean; the staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is just finishing up a major renovation. The room was NEW, fully renovated and very clean. The location was perfect, right across the street from the University of Florida. Great price! I will have to send my Travel Agent a gift for booking me here. I will be back for the Football games! Go Gators!

When I checked the staff was very friendly -- but busy. Arriving in my room I found that the remote didn't work so I took it down to the front desk and asked them to replace it or the batteries while I went to dinner. Upon my return I stopped at the desk and the remote was still there - the front desk supervisor, called maintenance and we waited awhile. Finally I said that we needed to just go to the rooml and trade the remote with one next door or something (which should have been done in the first place). At my insistence the Spvsr came with me and when we arrived in the room the maintenance person came and brought another. Later, I found that my sink was stopped up. Wouldn't drain properly. When I went out the next day I asked that this be fixed. Two maint. men came at the end of that day and said they fixed it. I didn't watch. This was not fixed. Then I had noticed that the toilet kept smelling like urine. Asked for this to be cleaned and was told it was. It still had the odor, which really bothered me. I took my hand wipees from my purse and trie to clean the toilet and found that it may have been the design.

Conveniently located near UF and Shands Hospital. Water had unpleasant sulfur taste. Room was what expected. Comfortable and conveniently located near UF and Shands hospital. A pleasant surprise was the free shuttle to UF, Shands Hospital and the airport.

The location of this Holiday Inn is the reason I stayed there. It is located immediately across from UF and thus ideal for anyone visiting UF. The room was very adequate. There is nothing luxurious about this hotel but it served its purpose.

Very convenient to the campus, quiet in the evenings, friendly staff, free shuttle to and from airport - as well as campus. The coffee maker in the room didn't work the first day, but they fixed it. Friendly and courteous staff, clean rooms, quiet in the evenings. Very convenient to campus and local restaurants in the area. Highly recommend based on other hotels I've seen in the area.

I chose the hotel on the basis of location--perfect for me. The first room I had was quite musty and mildew smelling. I changed rooms and the staff accommodated to my request, but there was still a bit--much less of a musty odor--maybe due to air conditioning and moisture dripping off the windows. I found a great restaurant nearby, the coffee shop was open 24 hrs, but the food so so. The location was right across from the Library and the rates were a little high, but o.k. On weekends and game days they were out of sight and so I left.

Restaurant attached was convenient, location was great- walking distance to several shops, restaurants and campus. Rooms were a little old/shabby, but clean- AC was noisy.
