The new remodel. I loved the thatch style roof and shutters and the remodeling in the lobby, the exterior and in the rooms. Loved the torches and looking down on the pool below. Also, really liked the textured carpet in my room.

Swim up bar and beautiful view of the beach. The fire alarm went off from 6 am till about 10. So much for sleep. I really enjoyed it over all. I was a bit irritated that they didnt give us any discounts or anything due to the alarms going off all morning.

We wanted to stay close to the beach and to also have access to a pool. The pool and the service poolside was excellent. We really enjoyed our stay.

Nice pool swim up bar, good air-conditioning, helpful staff and good location. Periodic sewage smell. The hotel was easy to find. Good location on the seawall. Easy check in and out. Gated parking for security. Seemed as if all the rooms have view of the ocean. The pool was kid friendly; 4 feet deep in all areas, waterfall and not very clear water though - probably just needed chemicals and vacuuming. Noticed periodic sewage smell - not too pleasant. The room was pretty standard - we had double occupancy 2 queen beds with a small balcony - smoking section. Small coffee pot and hair dryer in bathroom. Overall satisfactory - but probably not resort material - probably would recommend.

My husband and I desired a get away with easy access to beach, tennis, and golf. The SunSpree filled that need. The pool was beautiful and had a swim up bar. The beach was just across the street, and golf was an easy drive. Public tennis courts were just a few blocks away. Hotel staff was very helpful.

All rooms with views, location on east end, pelicans, pool, Isaac's Storm. Too expensive! The atmosphere is delightful, from the sunny, tropical entrance to the colorful, whimsical lobby. The Sunspree Holiday Inn Resort has a five-star staff. They are eager to accommodate all of our needs. The gated parking makes us feel safe. Every room has a perfect view of the gulf, and it is always relaxing to sit on the balcony and enjoy the pelicans as they glide by, one after another, on the air currents, soaring above the busy vacationers. The only complaint I can think of - high rates prevent us from frequenting this hotel more than once or twice a year. I would love to visit more often.

The hotel was a little pricey but the rooms were great, the location was great, and the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. All of the rooms have balcony's that overlook the ocean. It is a great view. Overall I guess the only bad thing I have to say about the hotel is the beds were a little hard for our liking but other than that, it is a great hotel. Also the hotel has a little restaurant on the lobby floor and the waiter there was extremely nice and gave us a few tips on where to go and what to do around Galveston. We will defiantly be back this summer.

The Holiday Inn Sunspree was pretty good value for the money. I'll start with the good stuff. Great drink prices at happy hour, great live band playing on friday night. And great bar in the pool! Great, friendly staff! I liked the balcony, although I had to wear shoes out there because the bars and the floor were sticky. The shower had a good strong flow, but there were long hairs stuck to the ceiling and up high on the walls of the shower. The pool was extremely hazy.. looked like too much sunscreen washed off in it. And no diving board:( Thanks to the staff for their seafood recommendations.

When I checked in they gave us a room that had someone in it, in the bathroom, embarrasing for both-- Called for maintenance regarding the frig frozen up and outside chair borken--both were fixed, but somehow someone during that time left a pillow that was not ours and not the hotels and concerned of who did get in everything else was fine

The Holiday Inn Sun Spree Galveston was very comfortable. Our room was clean and had all of the amenities we needed. My kiddo loved the pool area and we liked the swim up bar.

We had a wonderful time at the hotel. We had a problem in which during the night our air conditioner stopped working. Staff tried to be very accommodating. They tried to move us to another room, but there were only smoking rooms available...he let me go into all the available rooms to pick which one I wanted to go into. They appologized and credited us with a credit.

Wow! We loved the swim up bar. We lived in the pool the first night. We also enjoyed the view from our balcony. The ocean looked beautiful. The location was perfect and we enjoyed the seafood restaurant that was near our hotel. We would definitely stay here again.

This hotel was wonderful. The location was great. The staff in the restaurant was wonderful and everyonw was very friendly. There was always staff around to help us. Our room was wonderful. We loved the pool area- BUT the pool was freezing. This trip was for a child's birthday and she wanted a hotel trip with a pool. Noone could tolerate the pool long at all. We would definitely stay here again ,but if the pool is always this cold, we probably won't. The swim up or walk to bar was just wonderful. I felt like I was in a far off land- not in Texas.

Right on the beach with a perfect view of the ocean. Staff was simply wonderful. Freindly and helpful. When we found that our room's phone was not working the maintenance staff was repairing it within a matter of minutes. Could not ask for a more pleasant place to stay!
