Nice location, clean hotel, nice rooms. Only the reception staff is a bit slow, and especially when you pay cash. They have a hard time counting the money you give them. The parking is very expensive, and elevators not enough for the building. Apart from that I recommend it.

The hotel location was partly great--right down from the Santa Monica Pier. But it was also right up against the freeway. Not so bad in the room, but the pool was right there and you could hardly hear yourself. Plus, you had to walk through the parking garage to get to the pool. Their one guest computer blocked my server and the printer didn't work. Other than that, the location was great and the room was top notch.

Room was clean. Old hotel, poor layout outrageous parking cost. Overall very clean although you still had the feel that it was old. We had no idea our room would actually be right next to the freeway. It was hard to sleep. Tear down your hotel and build a new one, I felt I was in a motel.

The Holiday Inn is located one block from the famous pier. The price is expensive but on par with other hotels in the area near the pier. Rooms were of a good size and very clean. Staff were helpful and i would be happy to stay here again.

I have to be honest. I wasn't expecting much from a Holiday Inn, but it was excellent! The room was large and clean, there were bathrobes and even extra towels just for the beach. The staff were all nice and helpful, even bringing us silverware when the place we ordered in from forgot. Plus, you need key access for even the lower level floors which made us feel extra safe. Speaking of, there was also an in-room safe and free WI-FI. I have to say the only thing I didn't care for was the room service menu, but I am a very picky eater. I highly recommend this hotel and am already planning my next stay here.

I stay at this specific hotel frequently for business travel. It is basically no frills. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable; the staff is always courteous and helpful. It is within walking distance of some restaurants, but really you need to drive to find most options you would want. It does tend to get loud at times (though I ignore it); the beach is 'nearby', about 4-5 blocks away. It does offer a free internet connection, which for my business travel purposes is really all I need. There is no free breakfast provided, though there is a restaurant onsite (which I've never eaten at). I've probably stayed in this hotel 50+ nights, and I can't say I've ever had any problems; then again, it's just a comfortable room to sleep and do some work in.

Friendly, attentive staff from front desk to housekeeping. 1/2 block to Santa Monica Pier, 1 block to 3rd street mall. Rented bikes from HI and rode down to Venice Beach.

Location. This hotel must have been renovated recently because it is in excellent condition! I would recommend it to anyone and the location is fantastic.

Slightly expensive for a Holiday Inn property, but in terrific location right opposite Santa Monica pier. Service from hotel staff not particularly helpful

This hotel is ACTUALLY on the Pacific Coast Highway. We had a second floor room that the cars and trucks started driving through at 5 am. The pool is on the highway and there is such a high noise level, you can't sit and read a book. There is construction going on the street side. The hotel would not change my room when I asked 5 minutes after checking in. With fees, taxes and parking, the room was almost 300.00 per night. The pictures don't show the REAL place. My daughter and I were visiting colleges in the Los Angeles area and this hotel is not worthy of a three star rating.

My experience was about average. I'm not sure if housekeeping fully cleaned the rooms and my room had some maintenance issues. The managers and front staff were friendly and helpful.

Very close to Santa Monica Pier. Parking fee is way too high compared to nearby public parking.

I didn't encounter the noise problems that other people mentioned, and my room was on the 6th floor right over the highway, with partial ocean view. The location is great, the rooms were what is to be expected from a Holiday Inn (nothing spectacular). My biggest complaint was the price, it felt I was paying 5star rates for 3star stay. Not to mention the 23 per day ADDITIONAL parking fees. Don't fool yourself though, there is no such thing as free parking in Santa Monica, and the garages through out the city do not permit overnight parking. All in all a good stay, but at a very high price for what it is worth.

This is the nicest Holiday Inn I have ever seen. The location is convenient to the Third Street Promenade and Santa Monica Pier. We used to live in Santa Monica and this was the most conveniently located hotel around; we even could see the ocean from our "City View" room. The only negative is the street noise from outside. The hotel obviously spent some money renovating, they should have replaced the windows with sound insulated ones.

This hotel is just a pleasure! My wife and I had a GREAT time at this hotel. Front desk people were friendly as was all other employees we had contact with...smiles everywhere. The hotel itself has soom age on it but the room and bath room were recently updated. Plus the room has everything you would need, including robes and big beach towels for you to use at the beach WOW. This is also the best location you'll find, you are in the middle and so close to everything we parked the car and walked ...Venice, beach, peir and third street food and shops. Food at the resturaunt for breakfast the best, I had skillet steak and eggs. To get any better hotel or location you will pay hundreds more and may not get but dollar more value!

Location! Location! Location! This hotel is right across from the Santa Monica Pier. If you like sun and sand, this is the place for you.

Location was amazing and the staff was wonderful! The resteraunt. I was extremely pleased with the location of our hotel and the gorgeous view that came with it. The room was in great condition, lovely and spacious. We didn't even get a chance to check out the pool, but heard that it is wonderful. Found a fantastic Italian restaurant across the street. We were 100% pleased!

Do not underestimate the amount of noise coming from the street. Bring earplugs unless you want to listen to a lot of city bus and truck noise, along with the rantings of the drunks and homeless on the street. The front desk clerk was not much help. Check-in was at 3:00. We arrived 4:00 and were told only one of our rooms was ready and she had no idea when the other would become available. Our event started at 5:00 and getting four people ready with only one room and bathroom was unacceptable. The clerk didn't offer an alternative. I had to ask for the manager. She found an available room for us and got us on our way. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated, but the beds were uncomfortable. The parking lot was full when we returned from our event and we had no place to park. We had to leave our car at the front entrance. Breakfast at the restaurant was wonderful, but a bit over priced. Our waiter was energetic and very helpful. The location was good, but for the money, there are other hotels a block away that are much better.

The Holiday Inn at Santa Monica is a terrific location. You are one block from the pier and all the beach amenities. You can rent bikes at the pier and ride to Venice Beach. Also, two blocks the other direction you are at the Promenade. This is the trendy spot for eating and shopping in Santa Monica. Stay here!!
