Royal VictoriaAs a child born in Sheffield the 1 hotel I have always wanted to stay in was this. What a dissappointment. The first executive room was refused. The second although better still had the same small iritations. The free chocolate advertised on the web, turnes out to be 1x 2 finger Kit-kat. As there were 2 of us this was 1 finger biscuit each. 1 x Hot chocolate drink. 1xBath robe. 1x pillow each. The staff did provide an extra bath robe, and drink. We were given the wrong information for evening meal. When we went to dine no one was around so we went out for the evening meal. On our return the receptionist informed us the change of location for the evening meal, to late. We had just spent 1 hour looking for somewhere to eat and had to settle on Pizza Hut. The paper ordered for the morning was not delivered but another paper not requested was left. this again was put right by the staff. The breakfast was brilliant. Self Service and everything available with NO waiting around.

Hotel has kept the OLD Victoria ceilings and steel banister rails and lifts etc. NA. As explained above it was a delight to see the old Victoria hotel I knew fifty years ago. A far different cry from the more modern Holiday Inns of today.

We have used this hotel several times as our son is at University of Sheffield. It is in a convenient location with a free car park so you can leave your car at the hotel and walk into town, plus Sheffield has a good public transport system. The hotel is very well maintained and we have always found the staff very friendly and helpful.

Stay at Holiday Inn April 2009This hotel is ideally situated for the city centre & there was ample (free to guests) parking. However we did have a little trouble finding the entrance ramp - the hotel is quite prominant, but the entrance not so obvious.Rooms were quiet, although only one bath towel was provided for a two occupancy room...strange! We had to request the extra towel which promptly arrived.Rooms are perfectly adequate although this stay was quite expensive compared to other hotels I have used, this may have been linked to the World Snooker that was going on at the time.

The Breakfast is very good and I hope they continue to offer freshly squeezed orange juice (not many placed do anymore). A number of rooms do not have air-conditioning and the windows can only be opened a few inches. If we get a hot summer this could be a problem. Very well placed near the city center and parking is free to guests. I will be staying here again.
