I was thoroughly pleased with the location of the hotel and the shuttle service every two hours to points of interest. The view from the restaurant was worth the stay, although the temperature was rather warm most times. The food was okay if you did not want to go out, but I enjoyed restaurants down on Market and Meeting Streets so much better. Overall, this hotel met our expectations. I would stay here again. Apart from the stain on the carpet in our room, the hotel was clean and the staff was friendly.

The location was excellent. Very nice rooms. Breakfast was very good, but a bit pricey ($24.00 for two). Excellent view from the restaurant though. I had an excellent stay at this hotel. The service was very friendly and the rooms were comfortable. The food was good but pricey.Excellent veiws from the room and roof top restaurant.

Round hotel what a super design for a hotel. My wife and I wanted to get away from Charlotte for the weekend and read the reviews--we were pleasantly surprized by the staff and the cleanliness of the room. The view from the bar was very romantic and set the stage for a wonderful weekend away from Charlotte.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was very comfortable. And it was very easy to get where we were going in Charleston. Definately will stay here again.

The hotel stay was great! The hotel is in a good location if you want to do other things besides just go to downtown. It is located right on the highway that is accessible to Folly Beach, Savannah, North Charleston, Mt. Pleasant, or to Downtown. The room was clean and the beds were pretty comfortable. The service was good. I would recommend if you need to use their business center to print something off of the computer to check the printer first. It did not work the whole time we were there....and they did NOT put anything on the printer stating that it didn't work. The front desk is pretty great though....they ended up printing everything that I needed.

The restaurant view was gorgeous. Repeated power failures. Terrible, simply terrible. Power failures each of the two days there. AC power circuit breaker had to be reset. Keys failed on return from breakfast. Two towels left for three people. Dried snot found on bathroom wall. Internet only available on two machines in the lobby.

The bar had the best view at night I had ever seen! We must have sat there for three hours watching the world go by--it was so cool. I would go back in a minute we had a so much fun in Charleston.

The room was up-to-date and clean!! That and the cost are the BIGGEST things for me; there was Internet service, the customer service was excellent, etc. The only little thing was that the back top of the toilet bowl was very dirty from the previous guests. When I asked that it be cleaned, I know they tried, but they obviously didn't see the mess--we cleaned it ourselves. The other thing is that there were 4 of us in the room and they kept giving us only 3 towels. I had to ask for more each night. But it was worth the stay there because the location to all sides of Charleston was great and the hotel was nice. I would definitely stay there again! The other nice thing is that the hotel provided copies of directions addresses and phone numbers of local theaters and attractions. VERY helpful.

The rooms were very nice and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was good for where I needed to be the next morning. Plumbing was a problem. The toilet didn't want to flush, and we had to call for maintenance. They took care of the problem immediately. However, the showers did not drain properly, and we ended up standing in water and waiting for the water to drain before another could shower. That happened in both of the rooms we had, so it wasn't a problem just in one room.

The view. Staff was very rude at check in, and the power when down for a whole day in the hotel. No compensation. Didn't clean room on 2nd day. I will not stay at the Holiday Inn Riverview again. First off the staff was very rude upon check in, very short and rude with the customers. The power went down in the hotel on the Saturday morning and it stayed down until later that evening, no accommodations or compensation was given to the guest. We stayed two nights and our room didn't even get cleaned after the first night and we never received fresh linens. The stay was not worth the money I paid.

I have to travel toooo much for my job but checked rates on-line and the Holiday Inn Riverview had the best rates and they were 5 min. from downtown where I was doing business and my company is in save mode so I gave them a try and I could have not been more happier. At dinner I decided to take the shuttle downtown for free the drive dropped me off an picked me up which save my company a cab ride. The view from the room was over the Ashley Rivier which was GREAT! I will go back more often during my business trips to Charleston...

Staff was very friendly and helpful. The free shuttle into town is such a perk but only runs every two hours. A shuttle every hour seems doable and would be more useful. We paid extra for the view but between the dirty windows and the parking lot floodlights aimed into our room, it was not worth the extra fee. Also, this hotel sits essentially on the median strip of US 17. If you are bothered by traffic noise, ask for a high floor although non-smoking rooms may all be on low floors.

The Holiday Inn- Riverview was in a good location if you want to be within about three miles to downtown Charleston. One nice feature of the hotel was the complimentary shuttle service they provide to downtown. It leaves every two hours and makes several stops downtown. I was disappointed with the fitness center. There were three pieces of equipment to use, but no weights. The rooms were roomy, carpet was a little worn, but overall it wasn't bad. It had a nice restaurant on the top level, overlooking the river. I didn't eat there, but they did offer a breakfast buffet for a reasonable price.

I was hesitant to reserve this hotel based on many of the negative reviews but decided to try it because of its location right on route 17. Am I glad I did! Wonderful room, with a view of the harbor and city and the sunrise, very clean and fresh. Staff couldn't have been nicer, luckily we could get into the room a couple of hours earlier than usual. Bathrooms are small, but larger than a cruise ship's! Harbor View Restaurant was very good, with a pleasant staff and good service. Not as pricey as many of the restaurant's in Charleston. We took the complimentary bus into Historic Charleston and it was terrific. Dropped us off and picked us up on time. We didn't have to worry about looking for, or paying for, parking downtown. We thoroughly enjoyed the time and will definitely go there again. Maybe we just got very lucky, but worth every minute of my time. Thanks AARP and online travel for your suggestions!

The Leaning Tower of Holiday Inn. Would have enjoyed a free continental breakfast. Room was clean and in great shape. Vending machines annoyed us as they kept eating quarters and refused dollar bills. I was counting on using the free shuttle service but it runs only every 2 hours, and they won't even guarantee that. Staff exhumed southern hospitality. Despite being nestled between 6 lanes of traffic, everything was quite at the hotel. Next time, I'll just bite the bullet and stay in a pricey downtown hotel.

The staff was very knowledgeable about the area and helpful. Parking lot was overcrowded.

The service is questionable. The walls are thin and you can hear most activity in the call and in the rooms next door. They weren't particularly loud, the noise simply doesn't filter very well through the calls/door(s). The new room smelled of bleach (I did not complain about that, figured it was a blessing in disguise.) and the room service did clean the room when I requested. (But tipped the cleaning lady ahead of time and made sure she knew what room I was in, so...) The restaurant at the top of the hotel is priced high, thought the food is good and the view is quite nice. There is a mock balcony with every room. Mock in that you have the sliding doors, but you cannot go out on balcony. Reportedly because they do not meet building codes. The sheets could have been cleaner and I found some trash laying around the room from the previous guest, but all in all the rooms felt decent. Also, I called in a a wake up call at 8:30 PM for "9 AM" and received it at 9:00 PM. The automated call did not say it was a wake up call, rather that it wished me a pleasant stay. I did not connect the dots and subsequently did not bother to call down and verity the 9 AM call was still in order. It was NOT and I was l was late waking up. I probably will not return to this hotel. Also, the hotel is located in between two busy streets and you are forced to drive wherever you go outside of the hotel.

Went with the family for a holiday trip and the hotel exceeded my expectations based on some of the reviews i had read before booking. It is a fairly old hotel but well maintained. Our room was very clean - no complaints here. Staff was courteous and helpful. Just across from Charleston and the historic district made it very convenient but pay attention to the road signs going to and returning from Charleston or you might be in for a longer ride than you expected.
