Friendly staff. Problems corrected quickly. In adequate storage space for clothing, needed hangers and dresser. I have been here before. The room was comfortable. A bit on the costly side for value given. Hotel location is an easy walk to shopping and waterfront sights. Mid-week rooms were actually quiet.

Staff on reception very helpful and friendly. Room was clean and tidy, decor not brilliant (garish carpets in halls and lifts) but was generally clean. Bar service upstairs ok. Did not eat in restaurant, use pool or drink in lobby bar so cannot comment. Parking VERY tight for anything larger than a medium hatchback but great that it was on site just under the hotel. Pleased with stay and would return.

This was our first trip to England. Being in a Holiday Inn from "home" was a comfort. The location is wonderful, 1 block from a HUGE park with a lighthouse overlooking the harbor. Walking distance to the Barbican (shopping). Plenty of places to eat, even found a dollar store (Poundland). Restaurant is nice, the steaks were great!. Don't get too fancy at the bar and you will be fine. Can't wait to go again!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had evening meal on 2 nights, which were very good. The panoramic view from the 10th floor bistro was something else with its views over Plymouth Sound and the Hoe. The staff in Elliotts Bistro were excellent and attentive. I would certainly stay again.

The Holiday Inn PLYMOUTH was located in a GREAT LOCATION, maybe a block or two from the seaside. Parking was available, however during our stay we could not find a single available space. This might be due to functions they hold there or that the weekend we chose there was a half-marathon going on. The room was very big and accomodated our family of 5 (3 kids under 9). A separate vanity area from the bathroom was nice. Great pool but a little cold and there was no lifeguard available. Make sure to check the pool hours since it closes early on weekends if you have avid swimmers. Great shopping center that recently opened up and not too far from the hotel (easy walking distance). We would definitly return to this hotel.

Mrs R. BristolHaving read the reviews for this hotel, I can only speak from experience. My husband and I used this hotel for a chill out break. The car parking was excellent and secure and we found a space easily on arrival and on the two occaisions we left the hotel. The lift was slow ,and we had quite a wait on at least two occaisons but we were in no hurry. We booked a standard double room and was given an upgrade to a room with two double beds on the 5th floor. The room was very spacious and had fabulous views overlooking the Hoe and Plymouth Sound. The room was quite dated, the hose on the shower had a hole in it ,but we just used the bath. The TV was not a flat screen , we tried to order a pay view film but it did not work. This was charged to our account along with other supplements, which should have not been on the accout but the receptionist checking us out, made it clear that we needed to check the account carefully, and sorted out the mistakes very quickly. I had the impression that this was a regular occurance or may be there was a temporary problem. We had breakfast which was very good quality, and although we arrived at the end of service the waiter made sure we were offered everything ,and the chef cooked more hash browns for us. We had one evening meal in the restaurant included in the price which was a carvery and very good. The restaurant has lovely views of plymouth, and I noticed that the staff tried to sit everyone at the best available table to enjoy the view. I think for the money we paid £94.00 per night overall we had a good deal. The hotel is superbly situated close to the Hoe, barbican and shops. Car parking was good ,and the food excellent. We actually stayed another night. I would use this hotel again at a simular price.

Holiday Inn Plymouth - From Mrs. C. MURRAY - NOT L. MurryThe location and food were excellent. The room was clean, but there was a nasty stain on the carpet and another on the side of the bed. Also the new clean sheet had a dark stain in the middle, but overall the room was good, plenty of room nice view. The downstairs bar was good, but when we came back from an evening welcoming the troops back from Afganistan, we brought guests to have a nightcap and although there were other guests sitting and drinking, the bar person stated that the till was already cashed up and could not receive money from us - luckily someone had a card but we wanted to pay for their drinks. Not a huge problem but its little things that add up to an impression that is not so good.

We checked in with me, my partner and his teenage daughter, the hotel did manage to get us rooms next to each other which was good. The lift from the underground carpark up to the floors with rooms on wasn't working so we had to unload the car first and then on leaving my partner had to take some down first and ended up walking the luggage down as the lifts just seemed to go up and down betweeen the other floors never actually getting to the ground floor. However we felt that it was the restraunt that let them down the most. The choice on the menu was not particularly good, the service from the waitress on the first night was poor - opening the bottle of wine and spilling it on the table wasnt what we expected from a 4* hotel/restraunt on the first night. On the second night, whilst the waitress struggled slightly with the language - she was foreign, the food choice was again atrocious - we had all three of us opted for the carvery, there were no yorkshire puddings - which my partners daughter loves, I do have to say the meat was ok but however the choice of vegetables was, to say the least very odd!The choice was roasters - carrots that actually looked liked yesterdays re-heated, red cabbage, there may have been cauliflower cheese - which no one seemed to be eating.I actually did mention it to the chef and said there were other begetables in the back that they could bring out for us - which they eventually did - after we more or less finished the rest of our meal - the new potatoes were quite obviously cooked in the microwave and I would say that the peas also were - and no serving spoons either.Quite frankly we had a better carvery the following day when we stopped at pub on the way home for about a thrid of the price.Unusally for a hotel these days - there werent even biscuits on the tea tray, a minor point but all the same something that is generally expected and we certainly would have had them in a little B & B.

The staff were able to solve the problem of alternative rooms and cope with our request for a non smoking one,The room we had was quite spacious with a good selection of facitlies. The breakfast was to our liking and offered sufficient choice. Tha car park arrangements were satisfactory and allowed paring in a safe envioronment. Overall the experience was above satisfactory and after the initial problem was quite relaxing and enjoyable, However, tower block hotels are not for us.

I don't expect to have to queue for 20 - 25 minutes for breakfast (both mornings) with stressed staff & uncleared tables.Parking was on a first-come-first-served basis & totally inadequate for the number of rooms in the hotel.Due to rain, the main entrance was like a skating rink & particularly dangerous for children, the elderly & the disabled. The lifts are entirely inadequate for the number of rooms - I frequently had to wait 3 - 5 minutes for a lift.As a frequent visitor to Plymouth whilst my daughter is at the University, I can comparewith other hotels in Plymouth and the Holiday Inn doesn't rate 4 stars. I definitely don't intend staying here again & I will think twice before staying at any other hotel in the group.

At £145 for a twin room this hotel far from value fro money. The room was OK, the public areas basic and the restaurant very poor, the buffet breakfast came out of a packet or tin and the furniture was stained and dirty. I would not stay in or recommend this hotel and as a result would not book a Holiday Inn again.

Staff at reception were brilliant - friendly and helpful.Breakfast was good.Room was great in terms of cleanliness but was situated just outside the lifts, which meant there was a lot of noise.

I felt uncomfortable in the restaurant as a single woman. I was given a table for two and placed facing the window (which was obscured by condensation). There was a single man at the next table and we felt we had been placed in the 'singles section'. I asked to be moved so that I could face the room. this was met with some suprise but acquiescence. I had an appointment to keep and the food took ten minutes to come, although the restaurant was not busy on Saturday evening. The breakfast next day was not good - greasy spoon standard, tinned mushrooms, fatty cheap bacon. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming.
