The hotel had been recently renovated with a vague Oriental decor which seemed a little odd for Charleston. However, the room was clean and the view beautiful. The beach has a large expanse of white sand down to the water and there is a pier you can use for fishing. Fishing tackle is rented if you didn't bring your own. We didn't try the restaurants in the hotel but Mama's pizza delivers to the room and it was very good. As seems true of every beach hotel, parking was limited. All in all, it was a much nicer experience than the Myrtle Beach Hotels we've stayed at the last few years.

The hotel was right on the beach. During the day we would ride into Charleston which was only about 15 minutes away and went sightseeing. We went on a bus tour to see historic downtown Charleston and then the bus took us to Magnolia Plantation. We took a boat ride to see Ft. Sumter. We went to the Aquarium. There is so much to see.

Conveniently located right on the beach. Loud younger guests disturbed us and other guests into wee hours of the morning. The hotel was recently completely renovated and the staff was very friendly, ready to help.

This was my fifth visit to the Folly Beach Holiday Inn...and man, was it the best ever!!! The hotel was close for a few months for renovations...and what a difference a few months made! My family and I came here for the location, we put up with the lack of cleanliness (mold in bathrooms, dirty exterior halls, and cigarette butts dropped from balconies) to enjoy time on the beach. Now, it is obvious that the new ownership had taken the bull by the horns. The new owners, Avocet, have finally equalized the the property with the room rates. When you walk in, there is a huge fishtank, very pretty lighting, absolutely fabulous decor that screams BEACH, and most importantly you can see directly out to the beach and pier. Congratulations to the staff and owners for making this an all around premier destination in the Charleston area. I have been to Kiawah before, and this is very high class, you could pick up the hotel and drop it among the million $ homes out there and it would fit right in. Also, the bar and restaurant are unbeleivable. The chef is fantastic...the drinks and food are definitely pricy, but it is worth it. I suggest anyone that had made the trip before, and maybe left dissatisfied to give it another go. I LOVE FOLLY BEACH! Thanks!

Our room had a wonderful view. Couldn't ask for better access to the town. What else can I say. Our room was not clean, there were stains on the sofa, no clock in the room, the doors would stick, and the air conditioner was loud. The dining room staff was bickering, and not around when you wanted them. Hotel staff bordered on rude at times. Did not seem like enough parking for the hotel stayers along with other people who used the facility for other things. Only 2 elevators so the wait was long. All in all, if in the area again I would stay somewhere else.

Wow! I can't believe it's the same hotel! We wanted to stay at the hotel in February and found out it was closed for renovations so we visited the hotel March 15-17 on our kids spring break. We could not believe how extensive the renovation was. The lobby is beautiful and my children loved the fish tank (the front desk staff let them each name a fish which they were thrilled about). Our room looked newly painted, was very clean and the bathrooms have been nicely redone. The view of the ocean was incredible! We ate at the restuarant in the hotel and the food was excellent -- our children loved it too. We did not try room service. We also recommend a local restaurant called Taco Boy for a casual atmosphere. It rained one day and we were happy to be able to drive into Charleston so easily. At night we could walk to all the shops and restuarants. On the sunny days we were on the beach!!!! Our family really enjoyed this hotel.

The location and views from oceanfront room was great, but that is where it stopped. The times we did watch TV reception was fuzzy, I fixed cable wires to improve picture. The Room door handle came off in my wife's hand. Which they fixed that day. Waste basket was not emptied one day leaving me to wonder what else was not cleaned during our visit. To hotel's defense they did leave a card for two free breakfasts for that inconvenience. The first breakfast in dining room I had to chase down our server and request beverages. The outside door had a 1-1 1/2 inch gap between the floor and bottom of the door that anything could have squeezed under. We put extra blanket across gap to hopefully prevent any creepy crawlers from joining us. Air conditioner was loud. Toilet had to be flushed more than once to clear bowl. On check out the young man checking me out only offered "Sorry you had problems", my impression was that he didn't seem to care too much about my concerns since he made no note of rooms problems.

Great location, beautiful views, right on the beach. Walking distance to all the restaurants on Folly Beach. The restaurant had great selection of food, nice outdoor bar. I'll be back.

The view every room has a ocean from view. Rooms were a little small, but we spent most of our time by the water. Great location and view of Atlantic Ocean. Every room has an ocean front view. Right in heart of Folly Beach, SC. Close to variety of restaurants and bars. Folly Beach Pier only a few steps from hotel. Great staff very courteous and helpful to all your needs. About 20 minutes from Charleston, SC.

Great place away from the trappings and bustle of downtown. While Charleston "proper" is great, staying at Folly Beach, Charleston, SC allowed us to get away (a whole 15 minutes travel) to another world - like staying at a great beach resort. GREAT views, and VERY accommodating staff made this a memorable stay - one we would love to do again. A pleasant surprise. Beware - This was a fall vacation!- so I can only expect a big crowd in the summer will great you if you vacation then.

First, arrived and Hotel had no parking. Seems everyone going to beach uses the hotel parking. The staff just accepts the problem. Had to come back at 9 PM to find a parking place and check in. The room furniture looked like it came from a yard sale. I was not impressed with this hotel and it was not worth the $200 plus a night stay. I will never go back or recommend this dump.

Our stay at this hotel was dissappointing and so was what the town had to offer. The room wasn't clean. The private balcony would have been nice but you couldn't even sit out there to enjoy the one thing that was nice which was the view. They had no chairs out there because it was too small. The air conditioner, which stuck out into the room and out on the balcony was so loud you couldn't hear the ocean. The first two nights we had no bath towels so we were drying off with hand towels. The TV was broke so they got us another one then the two remotes that were in the room didn't work either. What topped it off was the 2" bug that was walking across the entertainment center while we were trying to watch TV, when we did get it to work. The main street of the town had very little to offer. The only decent place to eat was the crab shack except for all the flies that drove you crazy the whole time we were eating. And we were eating inside! We were looking for a place to walk to to get some ice cream one night and was surprise to find out there wasn't any where. We did end up at the hotel snack shop which had a few varieties of ice cream cones. If I didn't buy into a package deal we would have left the Hotel and stayed in Charleston somewhere. That is where we spent most of our time when we weren't on the beach. The beach was nice and spacious.

I had been to this hotel before the remodel and it was average at best. Now the decor and staff exceed your expectations for a Holiday Inn - probably should re-brand under an upper tier brand now. Even if you don't get a room take the time to enjoy the bar inside and out of this hotel.

The only good thing about this place was checking out and the view. There were so many things that went wrong, I will just hit the highlights. First- the door handle to our room was broken, then the fridge quit working, oh and did I mention the pigeons living on our air conditioner (yeah the cover was hanging off and pigeons began to roost in there). Don't get me started on the staff that did not speak english- they spoke russian and nothing else... for * a night we were robbed!
