Good hotel but found the desk staff very aloof, unfriendly. They did their jobs but it seems that they had to rather than wanted to. All had a touch of arrogance. This was a constant theme ove the 5 days I spent there. On the other hand, found the house keeping staff very friendly.

Location is perfect not far from central park. Room was nice and big bit outdated. Free newspaper weekdays by the door but not in the weekend. After all a good location. Want to stay next time here too.

We stayed there for 5 nights, hotel was fine, big enough rooms for New York, clean but nothing great about them,not a great room view, but didn't spent that much time in the room, who does in this city.only downfall is its very expensive for breakfast and staff where not helpful unless they knew they were gonna get a good tip off you. American's never tip in Ireland, bar staff[one fella] was very nice and friendly unlike the blonde behind the bar,who only served the men.

This hotel was a disaster from the beginning. I thought the * rate was great but I quickly learned that paying an additional * for a hotel with a more defined reputation would have been the wise thing to do. There was a nice long line in the lobby just for checking in, because there was only one attendant and no other hotel staff to be seen so people with general concerns were waiting in line. The room was a disaster, did not seem clean at all! Water stains on the ceiling, old TV, lumpy pillows, no tea provided for the room either, and upon arrival the room was freeezing! We had a reservation so they could have left the heat on for our arrival. The room service was terrible! They told me the pancakes were made fresh, but nope, definitely pre-frozen and terrible coffee. We needed a wake up call for noon and they never called! So we proceeded to miss our afternoon flight and since the next flight was not until the next day, they did not even offer to comp the room!! I stayed at a Sheraton in NJ closer to the airport last year and they missed my wake up call but at least they did not ask me to pay for the second night! The room was totally not worth it, the staff made the experience even worse! Holiday Inn is known as a low-grade, stock hotel but I just figured it could not be this bad! But it was, I will never stay at a low-grade hotel again, trust me it is sooo worth the extra * to stay at a boutique or 4 star hotel such as the Palace, or the Peninsula!

we were dissapointed that the pool closed at 6 pm. wanted to do a late nite swim after dinner with the kids. rooms were spacious and clean. front lobby staff were nice, yet I thought that they should have been more "uniform" in their dress and addressing the guests.

Rarely do we get to stay in a decent hotel while in NYC but the prices were great. Room was clean and comfortable, staff friendly and responsive. We were even able to get a room upgrade without increase in price. The location was great. We would definitely stay again.

The location was very good. Very unfriendly staff, foul language, bad attitude. Not the Holiday Inn I'm used to. Made my New York experience a bad one. Not sure I want to return to New York. I lived there in the 70's for 9 years. Some very nice people in the city. Not at the Holiday Inn.

Great location. No in-room safe, at least not in our room, and little to offer for storing valuables (like a laptop) at the front desk. Food in dining room - skip it and go out. Room was fine, in good shape. Heater works great and was quick to warm up the room.

This hotel was in a great location for traveling all around Manhattan. We were able to walk to 5th Avenue, as well as Times Square. The only thing is the bar in the hotel was a little pricey, $6.75 for a beer and $13 for a drink was very high, even for New York.

Beautiful hotel, room and priced right. Close to subways. We were very pleased with the Holiday Inn on 57th Ave. Beautiful lobby, restrooms and rooms with all amenities, including soda and ice machines. Great, safe location near subways. Would definitely recommend and will stay there again. Price was very reasonable.

Very satisfied with the hotel. Location was excellent, service was good and staff was courteous. Room was clean (slight odor in bathroom) and room service efficient. We got the room we requested which was a double occupancy smoking-room. A little noisy due to a high school located right outside our room and street traffic but overall not a problem. Would have no problem staying there again. Don't know about the other rooms, but I would recommend the hotel install heavier drapes to cover the window so that the morning light does not wake customers too early and for privacy.

Good trip with family. Preferred nonsmoking room which was not available, however made the best of it and enjoyed the overall stay at the hotel. Staff very helpful.

Our room was not newly remodeled, but was OK. Bathroom was really small and was a couple inches higher than main part of room? Staff was friendly and helpful. Was a good room for the price and only a couple blocks from Central Park.

This hotel was close to almost everything we wanted to do, and a short walk to the subway to take us anywhere else. The staff were very friendly and helpful with directions and any extras we asked for. It would have been nice if the pool were open later in the evening as it closes at 6 pm. The only other drawback was the restaurant was quite pricey when you have children with you, over the age of ten, and not a great selection-but NYC isn't cheap to begin with.
