The location is perfect but somehow hard to find when we got off the train. The room is not sound proof. I can hear exactly what people talk nextdoor. But the front desk gave us a lot of helpful information.

We enjoyed the hotel and found everything that we needed to be within walking distance. The hotel bar has a great view and we found the staff to be wonderful. The only downside of the hotel was the pricing on the breakfast. The buffet was nothing special and it was 20 dollars and menu was similarly priced lunch and diner looked more in line.

When we were originally booking our trip, we thought the price was too good to be true! Stay downtown at a Holiday Inn for so little? We did some checking and were concerned about some of the reviews we read, especially about the rooms. We decided to pay extra for the guaranteed king bed w/ non-smoking, and were very happy with our stay.

View. Distance from door to check in point, then to room; no one available to help with luggage. Satisfactory. Vent in shower area needs to be cleaned more often. Towels need to be replaced. Ones in my room were tattered. Beds comfortable, TV reception good. Ate Sunday brunch at another hotel that was more accessible and reasonable in price.

The Holiday Inn Mart Plaza is an awesome hotel in the heart of downtown Chicago. One of the best qualities is that it's connected to the Merchandise Mall, which houses the Brown Line subway, so coming from the airport, there is no need to walk the streets of Chicago with your luggage, as you are indoors all the way through the Mart to the hotel. That was the first selling point. Secondly, despite having booked just a standard room (which opens to an interior atrium), we were still offered to upgrade to a 'room-with-a-view', and we appreciated that gesture (we upgraded) because the view was amazing! It definitely made the trip a lot more worth it staying in a room which looked out onto the city every day & night (vs. the interior atrium). We faced south which looks right down the river and smack-dab onto the Sears Tower. The pool was very nice and relaxing, although the lack of a hot tub was sure felt. We never ate at the hotel restaurant, but we ordered room service one night and it was great. The staff was very nice, and quick. Overall, an awesome experience, and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Chicago. Best points were for location definitely.

We were easily able to navigate the "El" to commute from O'Hare to the hotel using directions provided on the hotel's website. Due to the holiday, we encountered locked passageways in the Merchandice Mart but an employee of the hotel (the head of house keeping) noticed us and kindly led us through the maze and ensured we reached our destination. We were able to check-in early and our room had a great view of the Chicago River. The hotel had not been updated recently and there was peeling wallpaper in places and other signs of wear and tear, but I still found it to be a good value for the money. With easy access to the food court and the "El" we were very pleased with the location. We spent our time seeing the sights and didn't spend much time in the room. The staff was always friendly and helpful when we needed directions on how to get from point A to point B. We were very happy with our choice as it was a good value for the money and conveniently located.

We had a room with a view over the river. Farther up the loop but still with the downtown feel and close enough to jump in a cab and go downtown. It was very nice!!

Unexpectedly chic for a Holiday Inn! Room access was slightly inconvenient due to the two elevators. Good accommodations in a good location. Helpful concierge.

My family and I were overall dissatisfied with our stay. We had a horrible experience with the valet service. We waited and waited for our car and finally an hour later got to drive downtown!! It was awful. I will not stay here again. It was the most expensive Holiday Inn I have ever heard of!!! Way over priced!!

Very nice room and service. Location is good. We had a riverview room so we can see the Sears Tower and all the nice bridges over the Loop of Chicago river, espcially gorgous night view. The only thing missing is it's a little far from all the shopping area. Though it's at walking distance, at night it's not very convenient to walk out by yourself. But other than that, it's a very decent hotel. It definitely deserve the value. (I also like its free wire-less internet service.)

Very convenient access via El from the airport. Only $2.25! Little confusing getting to it from the El stop (all indoors through the Mart.) The hotel begins on the 15th floor and goes to the 23rd. Be sure to ask directions to the Lobby from the El stop. It's not a bad walk through the mart but can be a bit confusing. The El is not particularly accessible for people with disabilities or large suitcases something to consider. The pool looked very inviting and even had lap lanes for those more serious swimmers.

It was my first time in Chicago and we loved this hotel, the concierge and all staff were very helpful at all times, with a smile and nice attitude. Which for me is the most important thing in a hotel after cleaness and comfort. We loved the Sky bar and their food, specially the ceviche! The hotel room was clean, comfortable and the pillow menu a plus! Riverwalk within steps and everything else in the city. Ah! The restaurant recommendations from the hotel, you got to visit Carnivale Rest. great place, geat food! Definitely would stay here again, the price was ecxellent for the location everything around (hotels) it was double the price.

Our stay at the Holiday in Mart was wonderful. It was our first trip to Chicago and definitely not the last. The hotel staff was very attentive and wonderful to help. The hotel is convenient to anything in the downtown area. Would recommend to anyone wanting to experience the downtown Chicago environment.

I'd been to Chicago many times before but had never stayed here. The hotel is on top of a high-rise (the lobby is on the 15th floor) and, if you can get past the rather generic decor, top-notch. The room was clean and comfortable (with a magnificent view--try and get one that faces out) and the service was unfailingly courteous. The one drawback in my opinion is the location--although it's right next to the Merchandise Mart and its rail station, it's a bit of a hike both to downtown and the Magnificent Mile area. We ended up eating a lot in the good though standard hotel restaurant because there wasn't much else close by.

This hotel is in an excellent location and within one block of the "L". It is reasonably priced and provides excellent accomodations with breathtaking views of the river and the seemingly endless sky scrapers. The staff was helpful and very friendly. In addition, we were able to either ride the "L" or walk to most of the popular down down locations - including wrigley field and the air port. Our suggestion would be to not rent a car. You have to pay for parking everywhere you go which ends up getting very expensive and dealing with traffic can be a nightmare. Just get a CTA pass and use the puplic transportation. It is safe and not hard to figure out. But most of all it is worth the savings and you can actually get around very quickly.
