The breakfast buffet was pretty good, but that's about all I can think of good. Not maintained well or kept clean, didn't seem to be anyone cleaning on a daily basis. Awful!

"The front desk staff is very friendly. The rooms are nice for the price. The whirl pool did not get very hot, it was actually luke warm and the water looked dirty."

Lights was out in room and hallway for long length of time.

Hotel is equipped with more amenities than comparably rated hotels. Hotel is in need of updating or remodeling. Starting to show its age. The hotel offers more amenities than most other properties in the market. The value is great considering that a restaurant/lounge, indoor & outdoor pools and breakfast room service are all available. The hotel is starting to show its age and would benefit from a remodel.

"The rooms were a little dated, but overall the stay was very pleasant. It provided a comfortable night, very quiet, and even had a lavish pool area. Overall very nice."

This hotel was very accomodating and had a great indoor pool area. The rooms were roomy and very clean. The front desk staff was very friendly and even understanding when we locked ourselves out of the room! Our overall stay was very pleasant. Would recommend it to friends and family.

Location and price. Room had an odor. Convenient and clean. Would stay anytime.

"the train was LOUD, but thank goodness it did not honk after midnight or before 7am"

The Holiday Hotel & Suites Monroe staff was the best ever. They went out of their way to make my stay easy and enjoyable. The room was large, clean and well stocked with towels, hair dryer and coffee. My overall stay was very pleasant and enjoyable. Can't recommend it enough.

Free internet and HBO. Outside looks like a travelodge, too close to train tracks androom service is worst ever experienced. First impression walking in the front door was that this is a typical setup, but when driving around the outside to my room, you can tell that this place has seen better days. The inside of my room had been renovated, so it was decent. Not great, but decent. Called room service & order a burger which went okay. Left the breakfast order form on the door, and it was picked up. However, I'd requested delivery at 7:45 am, and when it didn't arrive by 8:15, I called in and was told that they didn't offer that service. After several minutes of explaining the order form, they finally admitted to having it and would process it immediately. A half hour later I received my breakfast sans coffee, with cold toast. After I was finished with breakfast, they brought my coffee, so it was a rough morning, especially since my room was on an outer wall with exterior door facing a railroad track. Of course the train blew it's whistle several times during the night, and too early in the morning. Really bad experience over all.

"The train was very loud and very frequently. The smell from the paper mill was overbearing and woke us up during the night. The ice machine was broken and we had to walk to the other side of the hotel. Crickets, spiders, and bugs in the rooms. All rooms should have microwaves and refridgerators. All guest should receive free cont. breakfast. Staff was very friendly, helpful, and accomdating."

It was close to where I needed to be. The room was fine--with the exception of the room not being cleaned one day. Bar service was unsatisfactory. I would definitely stay there again.

Clean rooms, excellent staff. Train noise, and over crowded pool. The hotel is great. We stay there every time we are in the area. The staff is friendly and efficient. The rooms are clean and spacious.

It was pet friendly. It was by the railroad tracks. The hotel was clean but I do not like hotels where the rooms are on the outside and not inside.

Close proximity to shopping/restaurants. Dirty hallway/carpets. Nice location, but could use some updates in the rooms.

As a frequent traveler, quiet / comfort are high on my list . This hotel provided both. In the evening, I was surprised to find that there was no live entertainment in the lounge. The amenities of this (Monroe,La/Holiday Inn) hotel were very good. The food was great and room service was prompt. Live entertainment in the lounge in the evenings should be considered.

Convenient location to business activity. Pool was not operational at the time of visit. One night stay for business purposes. Quiet hotel, although the train at 4:30 AM was loud. Clean room, general hotel area was also clean.

Location. We could have stayed at a much nicer hotel in the area. The price was a little high for not having a functioning pool and spa. Prices should reflect conditions of the property. There was also a train track right next to the room with trains going by.
Date of Stay:
January, 2009
Good pools. The rooms, location, and overall experience. The people working there were nice enough but the outside looked rough. We checked into our hotel room and found stains on the wall and ceiling. There were three entrances to the room with a hallway on either side. The walls were thin giving along us to hear the people with in the room with the adjoining door along with anyone walking by. The sheets were clean so we thought about staying until we went into the bathroom and saw the floor of the bathtub peeling.
