Great help by the staff on what to do and where to get the most bang for your dollar!

The staff was outstanding and the rooms were beautiful.

This hotel is on the outskirts of the historic district. If you plan on checking out a lot of shopping or the historic homes - then you would want to stay closer to downtown. We drove and then parked to see a lot of things and to dine each night. This parking cost started to add up when you went down to explore the city, then came back downtown for dinner. The hotel is very clean, all staff was very helpful and nice. The concierge sent us on a trip to the Lighthouse near Jolly Beach that no books even mentioned it was available. Although we only asked his opinion for this one event, he had a lot of sightseeing tips/trips that he could recommend so use him. Note; Parking at hotel is an additional cost. If you do one thing, take a carriage ride. The drivers are very informative and can point out different things that you may want to get a closer look at while you stay in Charleston. Overall it was a great experience.

Very nice hotel, not especially close to market you can walk it, but it's quite a walk. The rooms were great with plenty of room. The parking is very tight for larger cars, and cost $11.00 a day, something I didn't see on the web site. Some nights there wasn't enough room and you park across the street in the church parking lot. The concierge was very friendly and a great help in planning tours, etc.

Concierge was excellent and should be the first person you talk to after check in! Great location and excellent concierge! Would recommend to anyone.

Charleston was a great romantic getaway. This hotel was the most reasonable in the "Historic District", with decent reviews that we could find. We found it expensive pretty expensive for what you get, but you are paying for the location "Historic District", not the hotel. Trust me, if you age going to see Charleston, you want to stay in the historic district. The hotel was very clean, staff VERY Friendly and helpful, the hotel had all the ammenities that we wanted, it just wasn't new or recently updated, which I am used to for this price. We paid extra for a balcony room on the 6th floor. The room was spacious, but the balcony was kind of a waste. There are two plastic chairs on the balcony (which is all that can fit), and there really isn't much of a view. Save the balcony upcharge.

This was my 2nd stay here (I have a student enrolling at the College of Charleston this fall). The location is beyond perfect for someone looking to enjoy Charleston, particularly if being near campus is important. The hotel had everything I needed - from free computer & printer use to do my flight check-in, to honest advice from the concierge, to a clean room with a powerful hairdryer, and most recently a desk clerk who lent me her personal phone charger since I'd forgotten to bring mine. Everyone is exceedingly friendly and accomodating. This will be my Charleston hotel over the next 4 years of my son's college experience.

Location was perfect for our trip and most staff was very helpful. $11/day parking, trash pick up outside our window at 8:00 am. The concierge service was very helpful but with only 1 person available she was hardly available. The hotel was nice and most staff members were very pleasant but don't know if we would stay here again or try the so many others in the area.

Checked in to the hotel and reception was good. The hotel has a complimentary concierge K M who was very helpful as to where to go and what to do. K's writing could be improved though when writing out iteneray for the stay. K had the schedules and contacts at his fingertips. The beds s**k as they were very firm and squeaked when getting into and out of bed. Pillows were very small and too soft. The pillows were smaller than standard size. The cost of the hotel was very expensive as my room was nearly 300 per night on Friday and Saturday night. Hotel parking is limited as overflow had to park in the church lot across the street and had to be moved by 8:30 AM on Sunday morning. Rooms were ordinary. Air conditioning temperature control was poor. Either the room was too hot or too cold. I did see uniformed policeman going to one of the rooms on the 4th floor during my stay. My 6th floor room was not scenic as it overlooked a roof top and parking lot and several other buildings. TV was very small. I would expect a flat screen for the price.

The hotel concierge, [...] assisted us with event planning during our visit. His suggestions were crucial to contributing to our great Charleston experience. He filled our time with tours, dining, live musical and a theatrical show, and general information about the area. I would recommend this HI (Historic Distric) to anyone visiting the area. A visit with [...], or his associate is a must!

Luxurious and well appointed. Alittle far from historic center of town. Avery nice hotel within walking distance of the center of the historic district.

Our family of 5 stayed for 4 nights. The location is right in downtown Charleston within walking distance to shopping and historic destinations. We found the rooms very clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much, and would recommend it to other travelers.

We were on a sight seeing misson and were able to walk to most things. The hotel was in a great location for this. All of us enjoyed the city and surrounding historic areas. I would definitely go back.

The concierge, went above and beyond to show us the city! The fabrics in the rooms made the room feel outdated. I would stay at the Holiday Inn Historic Charleston again in a heartbeat for one reason - the staff! The concierge, spent an hour with us planning out our entire visit and booked us on a wonderful walking tour. He also made all of our dining reservations for us, going so far as to call ahead to one restaurant, and find out what the catch of the day was! The front desk and cleaning staff at the hotel were equally friendly and did an exceptional job, of making our stay a memorable one.

This was our first trip to Charleston, but it will not be our last! This hotel was an excellent jumping off point due to its fairly convenient location and very helpful, friendly staff. The concierges made excellent suggestions for sightseeing and dining. As mentioned in other reviews, we enjoyed dining at Coast (great seafood at reasonable prices), as well as at Slightly North of Broad (delicious!) and 39 Rue St. Jean (nice bistro). Hyman's is another very good seafood restaurant. The concierge recommended Tommy Dew's history tour which was a high point of our trip! Tommy is passionate about his subject and a very interesting guide. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet daily. There is a choice of full (11.95) or continental(5.95). We found the food to be very good and the service great. ALL the employees we encountered were gracious and charming, from the maids to the front desk staff. On arrival our room was not yet ready because it was only 11AM. The young lady at the desk offered to store our luggage so we could go have lunch and begin sightseeing. She then called our cell phone to let us know when our room was ready. Our return flight was an evening one, so we had the same problem in reverse. Again our luggage was stored securely and we enjoyed a last day in Charleston unencumbered. We found our room to be very nice, very clean and comfortable. We would be happy to stay at this Holiday Inn again!

Very nice - the people were friendly and the accommodations were clean. There was an odor of gas on our floor as well as in the elevator. I didn't like the odor of gas and told the front desk about it who said they would check it out. I didn't hear anything beyond that. Beyond that, I enjoyed my stay and felt safe and comfortable.

This Holiday Inn is located in the heart of Charleston's historic district. The staff could not have been nicer. I requested extra hangars for the room and within 5 minutes they were delivered. I asked for water bottles twice daily and they gave them to me for no charge. The front desk staff was extremely friendly. I would definitely stay at this location again.
