Date of Stay: June, 2009

The hotel is on Van Ness between Pine and California. A few nice coffee shops and one adorable boutique restaurant on pine just the other side of Polk. From this hotel you have a nice leisurely walk to Fisherman's Wharf, a slight incline from the hotel to the beach and wharf if you take van ness. California street has great buses and cable car, it is a hike on California to China Town, be in good shape; the hills become severe. The famous Lafayette Park, a hill top park with a "kick bottom" (this system won't allow the complimentary word to be used, it says it is an obscentiy, how stupid is that?) view of the wharf and of alcatraz is a must see, it is a short up hill climb from the hotel. A great side trip for a short day or a filler.

There is nothing to like. Unfriendly staff, rip off for all services, poor internet connection. The hotel is the worst. It is barely a three star hotel - more likely a two stars like one. Staff is rude, internet connection is not working, parking costs 40$/night, one minute phone call to Carmel costs 10$. They charge 50 c to print a page - but 5$ to connect to the printer in the lobby. Avoid at all costs - there are many other hotels in the area that won't do all that.

My Boyfriend and I stayed here last week while on of our first visit to San Francisco and we couldn't have been happier! The hotel is in the perfect location for all we wanted to do. Which was wonderful considering I went in blind booking cause I had never been to this city. The room was clean, people friendly, and again the location rocked!!! I could sit here all day expressing how pleased we were! It was scary to pick a hotel in a town your not familiar with but for us it was perfect!!! Buses and cable cars where all in close walking distance which took you to all the great tourist attractions! It was great! I would stay here again and hope too! I am not a review writter but we were so happy with the hotel that I couldn't see not writing one to help others who are having a hard time choosing like I did. Stay here, buy a bus pass or walk and go! It was a great experience!!!!

We were in an holding pattern flying into SFO for about 25 minutes. We were tired! Once in the corridors of the Holiday Inn we were warmly greeted! After explaining that we were their for our 9th wedding anniversary we were offered a grand upgrade! Wow! The view was awesome, the bed was so comfy and the shower was a delight. Everything was cleaned and nicely appointed! That night we showered and went around the corner and ate at Grubsteak! It was awesome and they stay open until 4 am! A great local hang-out! The next morning we went outside the hotel doors to the left to catch the trolley! The hotel gift shop sells tickets....A great location - safe and wonderfully priced and we will DEFINITELY stay here again!

People in there was friendly, and I have enjoyed staying at this hotel. Restaurant are little bit on higher side for price for what I get, but it was ok.

I would probably select another place to stay next time I am in San Francisco. I thought that $41.00 per night parking charge was obscene. I was also disappointed that I was unable to view Fox News, of course being the seat of liberalism, it really shouldn't surprise me.

Room was impeccable. Conveniently located at the end of the cable car line for easy accessibility to many attractions. Staff was very helpful. Parking is * per day, but with in/out privledges. Parking ramp is patrolled for good security. Also hotel elevators require room key for added security. By SF standards, this was a great value and I would definitely stay again.

I took my wife to San Francisco for her birthday and this was my first time on the west coast. The hotel is in a great location but hotel parking and food is very expensive for average taste. The room was fine but the comforter was small and heavy. The service was great and helpful in finding locations. Overall we really enjoyed ourselves and will use this hotel again.

We got a corner room on the 25th floor. Views of the city, bay, bridge, Alcatraz. Food excellent, staff very helpful. Beds comfortable. Would definitely stay there again

Easy to get everywhere.

The location was great. The concierge service was very helpful. The street noise was very loud - even on the 21st floor. Overall, we had a good experience there. The beds were a little firm for my comfort, the walls were somewhat thin, the street noise was loud but we would definitely stay there again because of the value and location (close to Whole Foods, cable car and bus routes, restaurants (try Swan Oyster Depot and Nara Sushi - 1 block away). The view from the 21st floor was also nice. The only complaint my 18-year-old son had was that there was no hot tub.

The customer service was exceptional. Very friendly & helpful. Got personal calls from the manager & head of customer service welcoming us & offering to help if we needed anything. Rooms were clean & of high quality altho our room was very small. Drapes needed upgrading--alittle worn & there was a plastic clip used to keep the dark out screens closed--didnt meet the overall quality of the hotel. All in all a great experience, would stay there again.

Location to Fishermans Wharf. The hotel lobby staff was very unhelpful and unfriendly & parking was too high. The staff was not only unhelpful but rude as well. The man who checked us in was great & the bartender at the lounge as well but that's where the good service ended. It was in a decent location to walk to the Wharf and Gheridelli Square. The parking was expensive and hard to get into parking spots with a SUV.
