rooms were clean. the service is horrible. they would not look at you when they talking to you. they charge $35.00 extra to park the car in the hotel. that is on top of the 265.00 for the room. it is not worth it. you can stay at a different hotel and take the cable car to the wharf.

The first day we arrived I was a little put off by the staff. He asked for my credit card and was going to proceed to charge me for parking at a rate of 41.00 per day. I was aware of the price but when he asked for my card he was is such a rush he wasn't telling me what he was doing.. I actually had quickly stop him and ask what he was charging me for. I then gave him my other credit card that I wanted the charge to go to. After he rushed me out of the desk and gave me bad directions to our room, we got lost because he did not explain that we would need to park at the building I was in and walk across the street with all our bags to the next building. Honestly I felt really dumb carrying all of our stuff down the street, past the bus stop and looking so lost. The entrance is actually through the Denny's Resturant. When we got in the room was great. I can say that I did like that they replaced all of the pillows, sheets and conforters every day. I didn't care for being in the building across the street and having to walk across the street with my 5 year old every time we needed the car. The Denny's is also over priced to what you are use to at any other typical Denny's.

couldn't be much closer to the wharf without being in the water. two blocks or so to ghardells square, the cable cars, ferry to alcatraz, starting point for city tours and wine country tours, and great restaurants. room was large, new, and quiet.

Location was great. We used the consierge, service was good except one guy seemed more interested in taking his next break. Room was clean, bed was just fine. There were two buildings so we were dropped off at the main building with all of our stuff then told that we were in the building across the street. It's not that far but surprising and a pain taking your stuff across a busy street. There was usually a person at the front desk of our hotel... except the morning we wanted to check out so again across the street when we where not prepared to. Oh well, really good experience... had we expected it I would not have complained.

It was a great location. Front desk was too busy. Had to wait for service. It was a good hotel that was at a very nice location. Clean and spacious for the price. Would go there again, other than the pricey parking.

This hotel was located perfectly for our family's San Francisco trip. It was convenient to Fishermans Wharf which is where we spent most of our time. It was also close to the tour companies and to many car rental companies. The rooms were generous with comfy beds and linens, the business center was convenient and well stocked with paper, and the laundry facilities were a nice benefit as well. We would certainlyl stay there again!

The room was large, clean and comfortable. Excellent location to everything. All 3 public transportation lines were within 1/2 block of hotel. Area felt safe. One block from fishermans warf. Tip: use back of building exit, it will save you steps. I would stay here again.

We spent 3 nights at this Holiday Inn in on Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco and enjoyed every night. We were within 1 block of all the shopping and fun of the wharf. We easily walked several blocks down the wharf to the other piers for tours of Alcatraz and the shopping center. Would recommend this hotel to everyone.

We arrived at the Columbus Street address. The greeting was very friendly, then the bombshell. You are in our beach street building. There is very limited parking (maybe 10 spaces). If you cannot find parking there you can park here at the main location. Our hotel stay was good. The staff was very helpful, especially with directions to attractions. You are only one street over from the pier. I would certainly stay there again. My complaint is that we had to pay $41.00 a day for parking that was blocks away from our hotel. I think it is bad that the hotel charges their clients more for parking than public parking charges. The kicker being that the parking may not even be at your hotel.

We were traveling with our two young children, and just picked this hotel because we saw it while walking along Fisherman's Wharf. When we asked if there was a room with a view, we were told there might be, but the reservationist couldn't guarantee it. We ended up looking at the back alley and into an adjacent office building window. My kids didn't care because they were too fascinated with the Mario games they could play on the tv in the room. The beds were too soft, but the room was clean. We must have been near the trash area because around 11:00 pm I heard what sounded like the trash trucks picking up the dumpsters, or just a lot of trucks. We had the breakfast buffet there both days, which was excellent. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive to the kids. The location is good for walking to Pier 39, The Ghiradelli restaurant area, and all the shops along Fisherman's Wharf. On the morning of 4/3, I asked the concierge downstairs in the lobby area if San Francisco had any type of natural history musuem, specifically with dinosaur bones, fossils and the like, and the only thing he could direct me to was the Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park. When we got there we were disappointed to see the museum was undergoing remodeling, with a huge sign that said "Reopening Sept. 2008". We also tried to visit the Nautical Ship Museum down by Ghiradelli Square (also recommended by the same concierge as a good place to take kids), but it too was undergoing remodeling. Needless to say, that particular concierge on the morning of 4/3 was not up to date on his city. All in all, an ok place to stay.

Friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, wonderful location for visiting the tourist ares. The only issue is the non-smoking rooms are a block away from the main building. Once you're in your room it's great. Make sure the Bellman helps you with your bags or you drop them off at the non-smoking building and then park over at the main building.

1. the hotel should warn customers on its main reception/check-in desk. otherwise there was no staff on duty in another building, as well as no warning at its garage gate. and we ended up draging our luggage b/n different hotel buildings. 2. why?why?why? summer/very light bedspreads in mid-February? and noisy AC/heater ruined the night sleep.

This hotel is great. BUT -- I called the front desk and point blank asked if there was a bay view and I was told there was. When I checked in I was told there was no view - our view was the back alley. Stay at the Holiday Inn Express on the next block for 50 dollars a night less. I also called the Express and they told me they did not have a bay view so we paid the extra 200 (4 nights) for this hotel (view). At least at the Express you can get coffee in the morning with out having to make it yourself in your room or pay for it in the lobby.

My wife and I stayed at this Holiday Inn for a week at the end of January 2009 and found it to be an exceptional value. The room was large, clean and the king-size bed was most comfortable. The bathroom was clean but could have used some type of separate heater - it always felt cold in there. The restaurant was way over-priced, so we never ate there. Disappointed that there was no free continental breakfast or even free coffee. The staff was friendly and helpful. The concierges were outstanding. We traveled the city on public transportation and never had a problem getting anywhere thanks to their helpful directions and recommendations. The location is ideal for doing the "wharf thing" or heading uptown on a bus, trolley or cablecar. An excellent choice of lodging, especially for the traveler on a budget.
