Great location. But small room.

Great location, comfortable beds. Room was a little musty. This is a great hotel if you are utilizing Amtrak to get to Santa Barbara - it's within an easy walking distance and there are also shuttles available. Lots of food and shops also within walking distance - and don't forget the pier and beach!

The hotel is located in a great location for tourism in Santa Barbara. Beautiful area and great weather. Room was decently furnished and comfortable bedding. Just don't leave anything in the room of value! I'm not talking just jewelry or laptops but expensive toiletries and skin care products. My wife accompanied me on this trip and on two different occasions her skin care products were pilfered and stolen. Not just a portion of the product but every drop removed from the container and empty bottle left behind. Of course their hotel policy states they accept no responsibility for loss if item not secured in safe deposit box at front desk. But come on make up and lotion in the SAFE! ?? Stay at ypour own risk!!

This hotel has great location, is clean and well kept. Rooms are nice but little small. They also have a decent little breakfast. I deducted a star for noise. The only problem was the noise level of the neighbors. There is a Good Neighbor Policy that was signed by all guests but they obviously did not understand the policy. If we had called the front desk, they would have immediately made the noisy people leave the hotel and make them pay for our stay for the night. I didnt call the front desk because I thought that I would be nice, but think that maybe I should have. Other than that it is a really nice hotel.

Absolutely beautiful, bed was comfortable, and felt safe. Limited parking was available.

Went to a family wedding in Santa Barbara. Three couples stayed here. Two couples had rooms in front. One in back. The ones in back had an ok nights sleep. Didn't hear too much noise. But us in front - well let me start with someone on a skateboard outside on the sidewalk at 3 a.m.,(we were on the second floor), people walking in the hallway at 4 a.m. and hearing their entire conversation. . Toilets flushing at all hours. Garbage being picked up at 5 a.m. A train whistle early in the a.m. The topper being at 8 a.m. when we all checked out the "Continental Breakfast" - very poor. I went to the front desk and asked the clerk if there were any vineyards he could reccomend and he responded "I don't drink". What does that have to do with anything! I didn't ask him to go for a drink with me! Again I asked him "Are there any wineries or vineyards in the area we could visit before going back to LA - again he responded "I don't drink". Let me tell you that was the topper for that hotel. If you must stay there get a room in the back - take a sleeping pill (I took one - didn't work for me that nite) and don't bother asking anyone for any kind of help or directions! Their staff probably is from the area you would think that they would know whats in the area.

Good location, alright room, what you would generally expect from a Holiday Inn Express.

The hotel and facilities were fabulous. Great location. Unfortunately one of the worst nights of sleep ever. The windows are old. Even when shut, you were able to here every single car that drove by and every conversation on the street as if it was in your own room. I will not likely stay here again.

I wanted a romantic place to enjoy our 3rd wedding anniversary, and this was PERFECT! The hotel is obviously historic. I have stayed at newer hotels and the walls were paper thin. This old gem is solid brick and that adds to its charm. The parking lot is a little small, but they offer complimentary valet servide so it was never an issue (nice touch!). Also, I could tell that they spend a lot of money on their complimentary breakfast. Most hotels offer a continental breakfast, but here they add hard boiled eggs, omlets and yogurt along with fresh fruit for those who want to stay away from the carbs. My wife and I felt appreciated and pampered by the front desk staff. Even the housekeeping staff was friendly and courteous. If I must spend a little more to stay in Santa Barbara, this hotel is the one that I would want next time!

The Holiday Inn Express met all our needs. It had a large room with 2 queen beds, was newly redecorated and very spacious. The bathroom was really updated and well appointed yet kept with the decor and Spanish style of the hotel in general. The complimentary breakfast was a nice treat each morning and very complete from eggs, bacon, sausage, bagels, toast coffee juices and cereals and seemed well stocked and maintained. My favorite part was that the location made it easy to walk the main streets of downtown to farmers market, great shopping and the wharf and beach. We had a wonderful stay. If you don't necessarily want a pool or hotel stay with all the extra ammenities, this is a great location to get to everything right off the freeway and in a safe nice neighborhood.

Great location, clean comfortable room. Street noise, loud air conditioning.

We asked for a quiet room and were happy with it. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. The breakfast was fine--and the woman who prepared it baked homemade cookies for everyone! It's an old historic building with some flaws, but the furnishings are lovely.

The room of the hotel was ok for the night; the bathing room should be better in comfort. The location is very near the city and you can reach most of the necessary restaurants .... with short - minutes walk.

Wonderful location near State street and the beach with newly renovated rooms. Parking was not free and the rooms are a little on the small side since it is an older hotel. This hotel is a little older so the rooms are on the smaller side, but the new renovation and the extra touches really bring out a charm. Also, location is right on point so that you can walk along State Street for dining, entertainment and shopping or down to the beach to relax in the sun. Santa Barbara is not a place to miss a chance to stay at and this little hotel has all the right features and just the right price.

Everything was great, except the upstairs neighbors! It sounded like there was a gymnastics tournement going on above us, at 6 AM no less! That would be my only complaint, maybe they need to work on soundproofing between floors.

The hotel is perfectly located, half a block from State Street, still quiet and silent, and few blocks from Santa Barbara beach. The room was clean and spacious enough, but that's it. For the money paid, we would have expected some more amenities, and more helpful staff.

Location to state street good but also quiet. Proximity to beach good. Hotel has no useful staff just college kids. No services offered and phone system did not work. Ok if you don't need any onsite facilities. Simply a nice room with no staff assistance.

"The rooms are small, quiet and luxurious and show great care in details. Large new flat screen TVs. Quiet, central location near ocean and State Street. Valet parking. Nice continental breakfast. Friendly accommodating staff."

I was very pleased with this Holiday Inn. The staff was friendly and made sure we had a room that would best fit our needs. The room was clean and nicely decorated. I liked the marble bathroom vanity and terracotta flooring. It made for a unique experience. The hotel is only one block away from State Street which is a huge plus. Once we parked we didn't have to get back in our car until after we checked out of the hotel. There is a $7.00 parking fee but it's worth it to not have to drive around on the one way streets. It was only about a 10-15 minute stroll to the beach and we were able to check all of the unique stores and restaurants along the way. I will definately stay at the hotel again the next time I go to Santa Barbara.

Convenience to many Santa Barbara shopping, dining and beach experiences. A little claustrophic in the lobby and stair area. Overall, the hotel was very convenient. It was clean and well kept. The lobby and stairs are a little small and therefore easily congested but overall a great stay.
