We have found the Monroe Avenue Holiday Inn Express in Rochester the best choice whenever we are there. It is quite well located one of the main streets and near highways. The rooms are spacious and include a comfortable reading chair and ottomon. Breakfast is nice and there's a Starbuck's right across the street. We urged the desk staff to put families with young children on the ground floor, not the second. Little people don't sleep through the night and spend lots of time running around.

Very clean, super friendly stuff, nice location, will stay again. I highly recommend this hotel! Very nice and neat place. Staff are more than friendly to assist for my needs. For anyone who is looking for a place to stay, this is the one.

On the up side: -Friendly staff -COmfortable room -Centrally located to what I needed -Close to the airport -Beautiful weather (OK, that wasn't them but they get the credit) On the down side: -THe free breakfast was worth every dime I paid for it (ick) -The sound protection from the couple upstairs was non-existant and meant they were in a virtul threesome which, if you really wanted to sleep, wasn't the greatest option.

This was our second stay at this particular hotel. As always, the staff is very friendly, in that sincere way that doesn't make you think their paychecks slap smiles on their faces. The room was a decent size, with a cozy bed and nice, fluffy pillows. The fitness center is a smallish room with a bike, treadmill, and elliptical machine. If you're the type that doesn't like to be watched while working out, the location - near the front of the hallway - may not be your cup of tea. There is a free continental breakfast every morning with eggs, sausage, a variety of breads and cereals, and coffee, tea, juices, and milk. While a lot of the local businesses are newer and rather nice, some of the locals seem a bit rough. Fortunately, we didn't run into a whole of of those.

I found a bed bug in my bed. When I went to the manager, he said I was crazy and that I should just go to sleep. Horrible customer service.

This hotel is one of the nicest small hotels I have ever stayed in. The staff was fantastic and very accomandating. Very clean, bedding and room was quiet. Looking forward to staying there again on my next visit to Rochester.

Breakfast; shower. Location; building #2; bugs. This should not be a 2-1/2 star hotel. Positives: nice breakfast, nice shower, staff were friendly. Negatives: hotel is situated between a vacant restaurant and a vacant gas station on a busy street, with an apartment building behind it. We were placed in building #2, which is separate from main building. A non-smoking room across the hall from smoking rooms, plenty of smoke to breathe in. No feeling of security in Annex building. Body hair in sink; alarm clock panel partially broken; two bugs, one alive, crawling across the bed. All rooms were booked, so we could not move to another room. Never received a response from hotel staff the next day addressing the situation. Ended up leaving early, and cutting vacation short out of dismay.

Have stayed here several times. Excellent front desk staff, clean, large rooms with modern furnishings and comfortable beds. Large, inviting lobby and breakfast area.

Very loud, poorly built, no soundproofing, floors rattle. Close to highway, restaurants etc. In a suburban strip setting. Was very loud hotel, hear water running in adjacent room, sounded like upstairs guest was going to fall through the floor.

This has to be one of the finest hotels in the area. The property is maintained beautifully and looks as if it is brand new. The rooms are super clean. I travel alot and the service I received from the staff was incredible. All my expectations were met above and beyond what I could have hoped for.
