This is a good, basic place to stay. It was very handy to be right next to Penn station. The breakfast buffet is wonderful. The only issue is I had a few bug bites in the morning when I woke up.

Definitely location. In a quiet area off of time square but within walking distance. Rooms are small, but I knew that going in based on the photos. Good quiet location, good price as we were only there to photograph the city.

This hotel was perfect for what we needed. The rooms were nice and up to date, the beds were quite comfortable and offered pillows of various firmness. I even sort of felt like i was sleeping in my own bed. The bathrooms were super clean and large. I myself need to have a clean washroom in order to have a good stay and this bathroom met my standards. The shower was big, nothing too cramped so i cant complain. The location of this hotel was also convenient. It was walking distance to 34th street, macy's, theater district, time square..perfect location. If you say on 8th street and walk up you will find everything you need. At night, I say past 11ish i probably woudnt roam down certain street but if you are in a group then you should be fine. The breakfast they offer is pretty good for being free. All you need was a coffee and a bagel. This was an excellent hotel and i would definitely say again. This hotel definitely helped makae my NYC trip amazing...

We will defintely stay here again. Our room was ready for early check-in, which was great after a long day of travel. The location was perfect for seeing all parts of the city...subway station within a block; however, we could(and did) walk to Times Square to the north, or to Chelsea/Greenwich Village to the South. Breakfast was HUGE...a big plus for this hotel. The room was small(expected), and would be tight for four people...we just had three. Our room was on the back side of the hotel...not street-side, and was relatively quiet.

Great service, comfy beds, free breakfast -- all nice. My only (big) complaint is that I was awaken at 6am to the sounds of the doors to the stairwell slamming repeatedly outside my door. I have no idea what was going on but it certainly left me with a bad taste about the experience. The TV control was also finnicky which caused some frustration. Overall, it was a great value.

Stayed for 3 nights and had a great time! We arrived to New York by train to penn station. The hotel is a very short walk from the station which was very convenient. Room was very clean and the beds are awesome! More comfortable than my own bed at home although they are doubles not queens. Breakfast was very good and helped to save money because New York City is very expensive! We pretty much walked everywhere from here. Great location and great price! I have stayed at much more expensive hotels in New York and this was comparable.

this hotel has an exceptionally friendly staff. even though our stay was only 1 night, they treated us as if we were staying longer. the room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. the only bad thing we found was that there were no ice machines or vending machines on each floor. we had to go down to the 1st floor for ice, but we would definitely stay here again

My sister and I along with my daugther came to New York on a shopping trip. I wish there were mini fridge so that you could store water without having to pay for it.It was the perfect location was only 2 blocks from Penn Station and was within walking distance to everything. didn't know I could spend so much money in just a few days. I would stay at this hotel again

The hotel was super. When we arrived we asked for 4 extra pillows and towels and they had them to us in about 5 minutes. The air conditioning worked, the heat worked, the shower worked-it was great. The only thing that might make life easier is the breakfast buffet room-it was a bit tight fitting but the breakfast was great and we can't wait to stay there next year.

This was a "girls trip" and our first time to NYC. We didn't want to spend all of our money on a hotel, but at the same time, didn't want to sacrifice our safety either. This was a perfect hotel to accomplish that. Its central location made it easy to get to the attractions quickly, and it was also an easy walk to almost anywhere! We walked from Ground Zero all the way through Greenwich Village and Soho just to see the neighborhoods, and it wasn't too much trouble. (Don't do this if you have somewhere to be quickly - it took a while!) We also walked to Times Square and the Theater District, Rockefeller Center, the Empire State Building, and Central Park. The hotel is nice enough - comfortable and clean. The breakfast is a big plus - it is way more than a continental...in fact, there are many hot items each morning, and you can count on the cinnamon rolls to start your day off right. We ate such a hearty breakfast, we could skip lunch and have a nice dinner. The staff was very helpful and friendly, especially a male concierge working the bellstand the morning we arrived. He stored our bags and helped us with a map so we could go out and hit the city before we could check into our hotel. Obviously, there are much nicer hotels in the city, but if you would rather spend your money having fun and eating well, this is a great find....and you could tell that the staff really want to make the experience pleasant to build its repeat clientel.

The complimentary breakfast added value to our stay. I was impressed with the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an affordable place to stay while visiting NYC.

I liked that that hotel was easy to find. The staff was friendly and professional. The only thing I have to say was disappointing was the closeness of the room next to me; and I guess this is advertising purposes but the pictures on the site of the lobby is not this actual Holiday Inn. The lobby is much smaller, other than that I had a GREAT TIME. Great for relaxation purposes!!

We were in a non-smoking room on a non-smoking floor. But the room directly across the hall from us was rented to smokers two of the nights we were there. We complained to the front desk, expecting management to be as surprised as we were and to do something about it, but all that was done was management came up and sprayed air freshener in the hallway. We suspect the room was an "overflow" smokers room when the rest of the hotel's smokers rooms are rented. And there was enough space under the doors that the odor wafted from that room into ours with ease. We had to put a towel along the bottom of the door and open a window -- did we mention there's a dance club nearby? -- to try to keep our air clean. And the beds were pretty hard; not as comfortable as your typical Holiday Inn Express.

The hotel's room door locks are really noisy. When others on the floor come in it wakes you up. Great location, excellent staff, convenient breakfast.

Very convenient location, clean, and on a quiet street. Small room, and small closet, but expected that, so not really a problem. I had messed up my reservation and the hotel cheerfully accommodated me. Very clean; satisfactory breakfast included. Free business center (internet access).

We planned our trip through online and everything ran like clockwork. The Holiday Inn Express at Madison Square Garden was great. The rooms were a little small but the beds were very comfortable. For the amount of time we spent in the room, it was perfect. The front desk was very polite and the complimentary breakfast was fresh and plentiful....the bagels were the best!!! Great location. Our whole trip was great!

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised at how wonderful the hotel was! The room was small (to be expected) but clean. The bathroom was reasonably clean and it was pretty roomy. The staff was friendly, and they were very helpful. The hotel was close to subway stations and it was walking distance to pretty much a lot of stuff--restaurants, shopping, and landmarks. The breakfasts were awesome!! I would definitely recommend this hotel and I would definitely stay here again.
