excellent, we loved it.close to the beach

Excellent & friendly staff, free breakfast topcomfortable upscale accommodations. Was not as close to the heart of LaJolla as I thought it would be. The staff especially Marian Foster the Manager on Duty was extremely accommodating and friendly. The free breakfast was great, omelet, cinnamon buns, cereal, coffee with flavored creamers, etc. the whole experience with the hotel exceeded our expectations.

Seven of us in our group. We had a king suite - only complaint is that no AC in the bedroom - only in the living area. Otherwise, beautiful place, everything new, granite countertops, very comfortable bed. Walk to the beautiful beach, great place. My parents' room had 2 doubles and they did not have the same situation with their AC. The suites and rooms are large and everything new. It was only the king suite that had the AC issues so be sure to ask about the AC units before booking.

this was our first beach vacation with our 3 year old. the hotel is within walking distance to wind-n-sea beach and close to other shopping and dining amenities in the la jolla area. we were not happy with our first room as the air conditioner was very loud. we opened our windows, but the traffic from la jolla blvd. was also very loud. we moved to a room by the pool and were much happier. we were able to leave the windows open and have a good, cool breeze with minimal noise. the hotel staff was very friendly and accomodating.

Location. Reported cable TV problem, not fixed. Comfortable and located near the area we were visiting and were convenient. Pleasant staff.

Our group consisted of two adults and three teenagers. Everyone enjoyed this hotel-short walk to the beautiful beach & surfers, quiet heated pool, free contiental breakfast & newspaper, friendly and helpful staff. Quality of room renovation was surprising, beds were wonderful, granite countertop, great shower, quality touches. Great price too!

This was my first time staying at the Holiday Inn Express in La Jolla, Ca., and it won't be my last. I found it very comfortable and close to all my favorite hangs that are in or around downtown La Jolla. When not out, my wife and I enjoyed the pool area with hot tub that was all very clean.

Friendly front desk, beautiful room, walking distance to the beach. Recommend this hotel. We were upgraded to a balcony room with a kitchen. Able to walk to the beach and the gentleman at the front desk was helpful and friendly. Beds were comfortable and the decor clearly new and updated. Close to La Jolla downtown.

The four of us were comfortable in a room with two double beds and a pull out sofa. The inn has been recently renovated with new beds, bedding, and furniture. The bathrooms have been redone and is in granite. There are black out blinds; we were on the roadside which was a little noisy but okay. The continental breakfast is good. Will definitely stay here again for a short stay.

Our room was large and roomy and the grounds were pleasant with tropical plants, outside sitting areas surrounded by bungalows. The beach was within walking distance through a an upscale neighborhood. There were 2 spas for pampering within a block. I thought we might feel a little removed from the hustle and bustle of the commercial area of La Jolla, and we were, but it was a good thing. parking here was free and not crowded.

It was decorated very tropical and I loved that. Also, loved the way the rooms were arranged. I guess the only little thing was that we only had a shower and not a tub also. The hotel was fine. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful if we needed anything. The landscaping was really nice and very tropical. We had trouble with our TV one night and they were right there in less than five minutes. We just really didn't have a problem and would stay there again without a doubt.

For a last minute room reservation, we got a nice one with 2 queen pillow top beds. The price was good and restaurant right across the street, the food was great. Guacamole made fresh right in front of you. The continental breakfast was great, except we did not have a chance to enjoy it for long. I had an early flight.

There is a swimming pool and a breakfast area with a hot complimentary meal. The rooms are very small ... no table or mirror outside the bathroom area. It is clean, but I heard outside traffic and the soda machine through the night. Not in walking distance of the park/beach area or the downtown shops and eating areas (2-5 mile drive). The shower had been redone and looked very nice but again it was very small.

The openness of the area, made me feel like I was at home in Hawaii. The room was smaller then I was expecting. The staff at the hotel was really nice and accommodating, I enjoyed my stay (even if it was only for a night).

The room wasn't very clean, the fridge was warm, and the beds were not that comfortable. The bathroom was nice, the pool was close and convenient to the rooms. Wish it would stay open 1 hour later. The manager was nice. The coffee and breakfast was good. Overall a good value.

We were very impressed with the employees during our stay. They were extremely helpful and always available when needed. The house keeeping staff was outstanding. We thought we had a bit of a problem with our room. Within minutes they were in the room recleaning the entire area! The grounds of the hotel were beautiful and always clean. We were disappointed in the bathroom vanity. It was very cramped and didn't allow enough counter space. The bathroom needs more than one small towel rod. The wall between the bathroom counter and the microwave/refridgerator space should be taken out and the refridgerator should open facing out instead of facing the wall. We survived The dining option, for us, was the Holiday Inn Express breakfast. The lady there was very effeicient and cheerfull. She even offered to help us with our bags! The decorating fit the La Jolla area.

Very recently remodeled! Nice, clean, and close to the beach. Road traffic a little noisy during the day, but not at night. They were remodeling the hotel while we were there, so if you go anytime soon everything should be brand new. Our room was spotless, the carpet, linens, etc. were brand new, and the service was great. The included breakfast was much better than most. I had problems with my TV (user error!), and they sent someone up immediately to fix it!

I had asked for a quiet room but was given a 2nd story room that faced the main street with all its attendant traffic noise. Fortunately, I had earplugs with me.

Room was beautiful, free Wi-Fi, hot breakfast. Beautiful grounds, great service, great shower. Noise from the highway. I was very pleasantly surprised by the accommodations. The location was excellent and the room was first class. They have a very elegant shower which I thoroughly enjoyed. Having complimentary Wi-Fi is a "MUST HAVE" for most business travelers. The layout is more like cottages, with no hallways. downside is noise from the street. upside is a feeling of privacy without people walking up and down in front of your door. Overall, the best place I've ever stayed!

My daughter's comment when entering the tropical theme room was, This is what I'm talking about! We enjoyed our stay at this nice motel. We toured San Diego by day, a short drive away, and came back and enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi in the evening. It was picturesque swimming in the aqua illuminated, heated pool under the moonlite palm trees.
