Friendly and accommodating to us. Waterleaf problem. There was an overflowed toilet in adjacent room that overflowed water into our bathroom and floor An adjustment was made in the cost of the hotel by management for the problem, to our satisfaction.

Room was very attractive and very spacious. The room had a king size bed and a pull out sofa. I always enjoy having a microwave and fridge in my room and this room did not disappoint. My only complaint was that there was no hot water when we arrived at hotel approximately 9:00 p.m. However, we had hot water in the morning by 7:00 a.m.

Conveniently located near entertainment, shopping and dining. Some minor check in issues due to a staffing problem. Our overall experience was good. Upon arrival to the hotel, we were told that our room was not ready due to a lack of staff that day. Management asked if we could return in an hour, and suggested some entertainment. An hour later, we returned to discover that our rooms had been cleaned and subsequently given away, and could we return in an hour again, suggesting dinner around the corner.

we booked the king suite. check in was quick and easy (we arrived at 5pm). the room was spacious, nicely decorated, and clean. the bed was incredibly soft with lots of pillows. the frige, microwave, and mini-sink were nice to have. the free high speed internet was a great addition too. the location was perfect. just off of 395, a few exits away from mohegan sun and foxwoods, 30 minutes to mystic, and 45 to new haven. in the area is a supermarket, pharmacy, mcdonalds, etc. the pool was a bit small. it is built for children. the 5 ft area is a narrow strip at one far end. the majority of the swimming area is 3 and 4 feet deep. but, the water was very warm. the hot tub was very nice. the workout room had the basics. the free breakfast was great (yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cereal, baked goods, then some hot items, coffee, tea, etc.) the hot items changing each morning - scrambled eggs, mini cheese omelets, bacon, sausage patties, cinnamon rolls, biscuits and gravy, waffles, french toast, etc.). the only minor complaints were the water pressure. the shower head was really weak. also, the toilet is a low-water unit with rather poor suction power. It clogged very easy. when we called the front desk, they told us to come down to the front desk to get a plunger. why couldnt they send up a maintenance worker? another good thing about the hotel was there eco-friendly policies, trying to cut down on water useage. overall, a great stay, and I would definitely go back.

We stayed at the HI Express for 3 nights. Although we had to sit in the lobby as our room was not ready for 45 minutes after the check in time of 3:00 pm, overall, we were pleased with our stay. The staff was pleasant. The room (King non-smoking) was larger than we had expected and the bed was very comfortable. The shower had wonderful water pressure and felt great. The pool area was a decent size and we enjoyed it every day. The only complaints- very limited number of pool towels available and the hot tub.... though wonderfully warm, the hot tub tiles above the water line were covered with a dark film. Unfortunately, the "hot breakfast" that we had read so much about in traveler reviews and on the HI Express website was a disappointment. We expected all of the hot foods noted on the HI Express website however on the first morning, the only hot items available were bacon and "omlets" and the last morning, there was only sausage and scrambled eggs (which were very overcooked!) There was an assortment of bread, bagels, and waffles to toast aswell as cereal, hard boiled eggs (some mornings) and yogurt There were NO cinnamon buns or biscuits and gravy on any morning- and we went at different times each morning. The coffee however was actually delicious and available all day and evening. We did enjoy our stay would stay there again in the future.

This hotel was actually a great find for my husband and I. We were looking for a nice inexpensive hotel near foxwoods so that we could enjoy a show and some other activities without being too close to the casino. This place fit the bill nicely - it was about 15 minutes away and it was very clean, very comfortable and with most of the amenities that you would find in a Holiday Inn Express - great value!

"A nice smallish Hotel with Hot Tub, Pool, well above average continental breakfast, good sized rooms, good service, just do not expect room service for food & drink. This Hotel works very well for family, business, and large group travelers."
