I didn't get much of a chance to enjoy this hotel. I was in and out for just one night, but this was more than I expected from this hotel.

The hotel staff was very helpful if we had any problems. The fire alarm went off in the room twice very early in the morning.

The rooms were new and very nicely decorated with a clean white bedspread and granite counter tops in the bathroom instead of the usually semi-pressboard with the seemingly flammable cheep bedspreads. It was a nice change from the usual room decor at a lower price than I've paid for a tacky room in the past. The people working there were very nice as well. The problem came from the fact that the parking lot is extremely well lit with lights that face all four sides of the hotel and are not hooded in any way to keep the light from beaming into every window. This is great as far as the safety of your car or your safety should you have to go to your car at night but it's horrible when it's time to sleep. I thought our room was being lit by the television we had on but when we turned the tv off it was still as bright as could be in the room. Sound carries as well. There were a lot of kids slamming doors in the hall (typical kid running in and out, nothing more) and every time the door slammed it sounded like a gun shot. Assuming you can sleep in a well lit room (or you bring a sleeping mask) and assuming you don't have marauding door slammers, the room is wonderful with perfectly soft and cushy pillows but if light is an issue when you're trying to sleep you may want to look elsewhere.

We stayed overnight at the HIE in Powell in 11/07. It was fabulous! The room was nice and clean, the staff was friendly, the bed was soooo comfy. Bathroom was nice and clean with nice toiletries and plush, fluffy towels. Will definitely stay again!

I am having a hard time thinking of anything. Lobby and hallways where under construction at time of visit. My stay was okay. The hotel hosted a youth baseball tournament that weekend. Kids running down the hallway after 10:00 pm. Playing with the one slow elevator. I put in some ear plugs and went to sleep. Hotel lobby was under construction, hallways had patches of spackle all over them. I would think that the price should have discounted due to construction in progress.
