Parking was 20 dollars a day I think it should have been included in the price of the room. Staff was very friendly.

The parking garage is VERY tight and I would not receommend anyone with a full sized van or SUV attempt to park here. The room door had to be pushed/pulled shutr, or it would not latch closed. Bathroom countertop is 17" deep and 24" or so wide = no room for placing make up, shaving items, hair dryers, etc.

I chose this Holiday Inn since it was close to alot of different things to do. I hadn't seen my son (military) in almost a year. We were planning on a hotel that we could hang out at the pool and relax. They had a pool but it was empty due to remodeling, we didn't see anyone working on it. The price was fine, but the next time, I would pay more and go down closer to the harbor.

hotel in located in downtown but at least 5-8 blocks from the night life...not too far from the mall..not a bad place to stay if you dont really care where you sleep..the rooms are ok size the bathroom is small.bedding is good.if you're trying to enjoy a luxury stay book another hotel.you get what you pay for....

nothing. run down, had to pay way too much for parking. Parking was very expensive. Restaurant affiliated with hotel was empty and looked very unappealing. Could've stayed just a few miles away for a far better experience.

The hotel was clean, the staff were kind and helpful. the location was nice and close the hotel, but not in a particularly fabulous part of town (though within walking distance of a lot of fun stuff!). A great deal!

I had several issues I had to deal with while travelling for business but the staff met every need with enthusiasm! The room reeked of cigarrette smoke when I first came in and they did not hesitate to let me change rooms despite having a busy week with the conference in town. They let me print out my airline boarding pass and some personal work files I had to have when their printer at their public computer/internet station wasn't working. The 100 pound desk clerk helped me carry our heavy bags upstairs (big tip for that). Directions, advice on restaurants, printing aid, extra towels, etc etc - the staff was incredible. The staff at this hotel stand out from many others. The rooms were always clean, the towels were big, and the A grade breakfast are a all reasons I will stay here again. But the biggest suprise was the friendly staff. The room was a bit noisy on delivery day but only if the door to the balcony was open. It was quiet at night. But honestly, I always pack earplugs when I travel anyway. The only critique I have is the neighborhood. I felt safe enough walking quickly to the trolley stop at night (2.5 blocks) with a friend. But if I had my family with me it would likely make me a bit nervous. Of course they can't change that too much.

The Staff at the front desk were very friendly and efficient but it was obvious they were understaff for a busy holiday weekend. We went to San Diego to see a baseball game and chose to stay at the Holiday Inn Express because it is walking distance to Pecto Park. We arrivied after the game about 5 oclok to the hotel and our room was not ready. We had to wait about 30minutes. The room was clean and comfortable. The Staff was very good.

Very helpful and friendly desk help. Small bathroom, no place to put clothes. All in all, it was pleasant and I would go back. Loved having the shuttle to take us places.

The hotel is in a very bad location in San Diego and is in a poor area. I didn't feel safe at all here! It was a mistake to book this hotel!! Travel agency should have informed the people about the issues with this hotel. Its a very old hotel and it shouldn't be called Holiday Inn Express at all. The bathroom is so small, 75% of the bathroom is the small shower they have. Its the smallest bathroom, I ever seen. I had to wait for 90 mins for my room to get clean, when I came in. Also, they told me out loud my hotel number was.. which is a concern. The room size is avg for a hotel in the city like this.. bathroom, you barely have room to move at all. The bed is not that great at all either. The hotel looks clean.. but is very old and you can tell in the past it was not taken good care of at all.

staying at the Holiday Inn Express took a whole lot of stress off me. I went to San Diego to meet my Biological mother and her family. Coming back to the hotel was relaxing where I could ponder about the day. The employees were over the top of great. The parking garage is so narrow that I scraped the rental car. Oh I was not the first nor will I ever be the last. The cement on ALL the turns were no longer gray the color of cement but black from all the cars that have kissed them as well. If I knew I would have a case I would of made the parking garage owners pay for the damages of the car. Let me just say again that the hotel it self was Great!!

The hotel staff was very informative and helpful. Could not think of anything negative. The hotel was clean and spacious. The breakfast was included, very delicious. The hotel was 2 blocks from trolley station which was easy to navigate.

Rooms were clean and a good size...we had a nice balcony overlooking the pool and downtown which was very pleasant. The hotel shuttle service was okay - didn't tell me that it stops at 10:30pm so when our plane landed we expected the shuttle and had to take a taxi instead. Also, one night we waited almost an hour for a return and it never came - even though we had called and they said it would be there shortly. It was helpful to get to the zoo and gaslamp - but gaslamp is easily walking distance anyway.Maid service was good - random times for it though. We returned to the hotel at 4pm one day and the room hadn't been cleaned. But in general, it was done nicely by the time we returned and after a long day sightseeing that is appreciated. Staff is very pleasant and helpful in finding our way around or suggestions - but my recommendation would be to do your homework in advance. You definitely need a car to visit logoland or the animal park. They have a shuttle which goes to the zoo and to Embarcadero (where the USS Midway is) and you can walk to Horton Plaza and the rest of the gaslamp (which means you don't have to stay in the more pricey downtown areas to still access all the activities there). The breakfast is warm and stocked frequently.Overall I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Good, comfortable rooms at a reasonable price.

If you have a San Diego Go Card this hotel was close to many attractions: Balboa Park, the Midway, Go Car rental, Mission Beach, Sea World, Old Town, etc. We walked to PETCO stadium and one of us walked to Balboa Park. The breakfast didn't have that big of variety but it was ok. The pool is shallow, but has a nice wheelchair lift. The elevator was slow, but if you're not in a hurry that doesn't matter.

Very friendly staff, great shuttle van service around town. A couple of rooms had no view of surroundings. Great place to base an economical tour of San Diego. Not a resort, but has all the basic amenities you'd expect from a base for touring the town. The staff will go out of their way to point you to the local attractions, and they throw a pretty good cocktail party every night. The Shuttle Van service is outstanding - they will take you anywhere in town, and come get you later. Our driver also provided coupons for several attractions. And don't forget the full hot breakfast, including hot breakfast buns that are fabulous. Located 6 blocks from Gaslight District, 8 to Little Italy, and 11 from the Cruise terminal/Maritime museum/Midway. You can walk to everything, but need to remember that your hotel will be up hill when you come back. Cab rides are under $10 if you are coming from the waterfront or Little Italy. Its not a Vegas resort, but with the van available, you don't need a rental car to really see San Diego. To wrap up - the Holiday Inn Express is a nice clean motel in central San Diego and is a great place to stay while visiting the town for sightseeing. We'll be back.

My son is stationed in San Diego this summer so we wanted to see him before he leaves. Finances are tight but felt it was really important for my daughter and me to see him on his free week-end.I researched as many 'deals' as I could and chose this one because I thought it was the right deal for us. I did NOT know there would be $64 worth of parking fees for 4 days, nor did I know that this particular Holiday Inn Express did NOT have a fitness center. The pool was extremely small and only four people could sit out by it -- certainly not enough space for a hotel pool in the summer! Pretty disappointing.

The Hotel is in a great location, very easy to find. There are many things to do in the area with in walking distance, everything from dining, shopping, Petco Park, and other attractions. We enjoyed the location and the view of the city very much.
