We were inarentalcare and driving ourselves-and had quite a time finding this hotel. There were a lot of one way streets around it and really only one way in which to get to the front entrance to the hotel so that we could unload luggage. No parking available, was sent to a parking lot a couple of blocks away. Did get validated for a discount, but it did cost. The room was for three people. There was a nice double bed but an unfolded sofa bed for the third person. This was low to the floor and hard for the older occupant to get in. With the sofa opened there as barely room in the room for our luggage. The room awas pretty and clean, and they did (thank goodness)have working wifi. If in the city again, would probably find a hotel in a less congesting, more convenient area. ****I do have a question for someone! Why do none of the hotels in Scotland or England provide face cloths? Is that too much to ask?****

Great Place to Stay in EdinburghLovely hotel, staff very friendly. Room very clean and modern and well equiped. Excellent value for money. Would definately recommend it to all my friends.

Hotel in a great location but noisy in center of town. Not good for loading buses. Lots of up and then down steps on premises. Food ok. Hotel clean just very bustling and noisy. Disco and street noise kept us awake. Nice shower (stall). Not good for handicap visitors. Prepare to walk in Edinburgh. I will return there but not to this hotel.

the beds were horribly uncomfortable and they charged a fortune for our telephone calls after they told us how to use the phone card... disappointing stay for a holiday inn express

Holiday Inn EdinburghGood location for those attending concerts at Playhouse. Rooms could do with a refurb and breakfast very limited with no non-dairy options.

AcommodationDissapointed that the rooms were very very small. The hotel itself is well situated near the centre only a short walk in. the breakfast was cramped and full and had to wait in a cue for ages just for cereal and toast ..nothing more substantial

Very much money for poor qualityThis hotel is not really adapted for families with a baby. Despite we advised by phone we are coming with a baby, we received a room on the higher section of the 4th floor. So we had to lift the baby cart from the lower to the higher section, as there is no ramp available.Alternatively a room at the ground floor with view to the car park was proposed. Also there was no access ramp from the street to the lobby, what makes the hotel nearly unaccessable for disabled persons, except they are driving around the whole hotel and access by the car park ( more than 150 m to drive ).The breakfast was very basic, not to compare with what I am used to find with Holiday Inn.The reception staff was excellent and very helpful. As a Priority Club member I was completely disappointed from this hotel and would never come back, neither recommend it to somebody.

Noisy Rooms Thje hotel is a nightmare to get to in a car , and even worse when you try to park ! The staff have no idea of the area or route to the car park . The hotel is nicely equiped with a nice bar . But the room I had front basement room was cold and very very noisy resultuing in very little sleep . The Hotel is escellent for central Edinburgh

Overnight stayWish I had stayed here last time I was in Edinburgh. Great location, £5 taxi from Waverley, lots immediately round and about the hotel. - Good selection or restaurants and other cultural activities!Breakfast was basic continental. Have paid more and stayed in far worse.Recommended as a decent, good value base ofr Edinburgh.

I would do it againGreat place, right in the centre of Edinburgh, quiet during the evening, nice comfy bar, directly opposite the Playhouse. Friendly and helpful staff and lovely double room. Everything was spotless and the shower was easy to work. Really good place to stay.

Great value, brilliant location. The hotel is located just off Princes Street and about 5/10 minutes walk from the Royal Mile and George Street, and so is perfect for people staying in Edinburgh to see the sights and indulge in some retail therapy! It is right opposite the Edinburgh Playhouse Theatre and Omni Centre (houses a cinema, bar/club, restaurants) and Jongleurs comedy club. The rooms were as expected; basic and very clean. The bathroom was spotless.Breakfast in the morning was the usual coffee/tea/fruit juice, cereal, fruit, croissants, toast etc etc.Staff were friendly and attentive.Overall, an excellent place to stay for those on a budget!

It was greatIt is my first time to stay at Holyday Inn Express hotels. I would say it was realy fantastic. Just few minutes walk from Train station Edinburgh Waverly. Hotle is sorounded with many restaurents, cafes, bus stops and Thestle sopping centre. Most imprtant is the value for money, thanks to late Rooms, for a family it was a bargin. If I visit the city again it will be my first option. Just try it ;)

Edinburgh Express at Holiday InnThe family room was clean and big enough, however the second double bed was made up of different \"bits\" toward the head rest, making it very uncomfortable to sleep in. Apart from that inconvenience, it provided excellent value for money and I would recommend it.

Arriving late-ish for breakfast on Sunday morning(10am), we were unable to find a clean table and had to eat in the additional accommodation downstairs in the bar. This was no great problem, but meant that we were running up and downstairs in order to be able to select from the full range of food on offer. The accommodation was comfortable and spotless. I don't think we could really have expected anything more.

This hotel is ideally situated for the Playhouse (directly opposite), it's very central and a short walk to Princess Street. The parking spaces are few, however if you are able to obtain one from the hotel it's excellent value. There are NCP car parks very close to the hotel so parking will not be a problem. The hotel has a very nice bar area and there's lots of nice eating places near by. Breakfast was continental in style BUT very very good, with fruit, bread, cheese, yogurts tea, coffee and fruit juice, what more do you want or need. We will use this hotel again.

Very impressed with the hotel! The staff couldnt be friendlier and the breakfast was great. I couldnt believe the price was so low for such a great hotel. Loved the huge bathroom towels.
