The room was nice and the bathroom very clean. I loved the side location of the pool, it lent some privacy. The hot continental breakfast was a nice surprise. Not just the mini-muffins of other places. What a great way to start the day.

Very friendly and helpful staff. There was a car lot next door and we could hear the loud speaker when outside at the pool. Hotel was very nice. The staff made our staff very pleasant. Everyone was very nice and helpful. They always had a smile and said hello.

The room was overpriced considering the distance from the historic area of Charleston.

I attended a co-workers reunion and found excellent restaurants and places of interest right at hand.

The breakfast was good. I like that coffee was available all day. The facility was not as closed to downtown Charleston as I thought.

Can't beat the price of this hotel for the Charleston area. It's not in downtown, so it doesn't have the quaint atmosphere, but how much time do you really spend at the hotel on a vacation anyway? We had a rental car and this hotel was easily accessible to all the areas we wanted to go like Downtown Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Folly Beach, and the Plantations. The availability of a continental breakfast each morning offerred a great alternative to having to get ready and go out to eat. The food offering was great, but it was enough to get me to lunch. Our room was on the non-smoking side of the first floor but we still got a smoke smell from the hallway, though it wasn't an overpowering smell. The room had a refrigerator and microwave which made left overs for lunch and healthy in-room snacks possible. If you're planning to come to Charleston and rent a car in order to see more than just downtown then I think this hotel is a great value for the money. It's not perfect, but it offers a pleasant stay at a reasonable price so that you can spend your money on sight seeing and the great food of Charleston.

Our stay at the Holiday Inn Express Charleston was very enjoyable. I was impressed that the beds did not have the run of the mill bedspreads and pillows. Each bed had four pillows, two marked soft and 2 marked firm. Our room was cleaned everyday in a very timely manner. The hotel was very easy to find. However, it was a little farther out of town than I liked. The complimentary breakfast was very nice. Each morning there was something different. I would stay there again

Size of room wasgood. 1st floor smells. Bathroom not as clean as it should be and big hole in wall where shower head is. Entering the hotel' 1st floor hall you smell. Breakfast was expectable but lacking variety

Desk clerks were especially helpful in evaluating city tour options and arranging tour pick-ups for us.

Comfortable and spacious. Smoke smell. My husband and I were very pleased with our stay here. We were there on vacation. The front desk was very helpful on attractions to see and directions on how to get there. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The maid service did an outstanding job. For the money you couldn't ask for a better stay.

First off, the hotel manager was very helpful. My mother took ill and couldn't make the trip and the manager kindly refunded the advance purchase, so my husband and I made sure to stay there one night of our trip as a thank you. My only complaint is that, especially given it was an advance reservation, no one told me about their smoking policy. We asked for a non-smoking room, which we got, however they neglected to tell us that there was still smoking on all of the floors except for one. By the time we found out after walking down the smoke-filled corrider to our room, they didn't have any free rooms on the non-smoking floor to switch us to. Not good.

I have stayed at many H.I.E.'s and this one is the oldest and smallest. The breakfast area was too small for the people attending even at 7:30 in the morning. It is hard to get in and out of for parking as there is no traffic light there. The staff seemed rather indifferent to the service of it's customers.

Room was clean. Lobby and 1st floor smelled like cigarette smoke. We got into town about 11 AM and the room was not ready - so we went out to tour the town. We came back at 6 PM and was told the room was not ready. After I confronted them suddenly a room was ready. The lobby and 1st floor smelled of cigarette smoke. Our room on the second floor was ok. Overall, this was not as nice a Holliday Inn Express as others I have stayed in.

The Holiday Inn Express was a beautiful hotel. The room was very spacious, and it contained a sofa, and a recliner. The bathroom was very clean with a big counter to hold all my stuff. Checkin and check out was quick and hasselfree, and the staff was very courteous. I would definetly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants a romantic getaway or even a family vacation.

Our Holiday Inn Express stay was a surprise. Our check in took 20 min. minimum. The clerk that checked us in was not very welcoming and didn't seem very pleasant. After checking in and dropping our luggage off in the room we headed out for dinner. We asked the same person at the desk for some dinner recommendations. I think she was trying to be the least helpful as she possibly could even after we probed for more specific questions. She seemed annoyed that we'd even stopped to ask her this question. Our room was nice and very comfortable. There is only one elevator and the maintenance and house keeping use this along with all their supplies and equipment. The hallways had smell that was not appealing.

Free breakfast-friendly staff. TV remote didn't work, power button on TV was broken. Comfortable place to sleep--our only interest really.

with the hotel, it's location or the staff. The location was perfect for easy access to the city bus line. We never needed to rent a car. The staff could not have been any more helpful or gracious.

Convenient to place of conference and nearby restaurant. No screen on windows. All in all it was conveniently located for where I needed to be; maid service was good; check in clerk was not so welcoming and rather curt when I asked about a military discount.

The beds and linens were nice and cozy. The breakfast was far more then just continental, nice presentation, wide variety and well watched over and cared for by staff. I also liked that you have coffee maker, frig and micro in the room. Only negative was the 1st floor halls near the elevator have a stronge smell of smoke mixed with what ever they are using to try to mask the smell. We did not smell it on the second floor or in the lobby front desk area.
