Great hotel, very clean, good facilities. Only small problem was having to find a member of staff for more butter and glasses at breakfast.

Ideal shortbreak stopoverThe clean, modern hotel is handy for lots of attractions - it took us 15 mins to Drayton Manor, 25 to Thinktank science museum. The staff were chatty and helpful, the rooms and breakfast area immaculate. Prices on show for airport parking stayovers also made it an appealing option for flights from the nearby B'ham airport

Great StaffI must admit that normally the staff in the cheaper hotels leave a lot to be desired but the chap on reception when I booked in was excellent and very professional. He even personally turned off the extractor fan that wouldn't turn off! Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended!

Good for an overnight stay - breakfast was good.Car park was £7 - which we were not informed about and as we ate at the restaurant next door felt it was a cheek.

Check inDon't check in when the night staff are on. Uncommunicative, inefficient and disorganised when we arrived. We moved rooms because we were double booked with no apology. Very dismissive staff when we asked for information.

Very efficient, rooms clean and tidy , limited staff helpful and efficient. Stayed on a Saturday night . Possibly the best value for money in this category of hotel.

A night in transitThe Hotel has a good location , close to m/way but away from noise of traffic. Fast book in. We had the cheapest of rooms,it was small , but had all that was needed. The weather was hot for U.K. and the room was stuffy over night even with windows open as far as possible. The continental breakfast was good and well presented . The only let down was the poor state of the carpet in the room this was stained and not well vacumed . All in All a good to fair place to stay

Best ever experience of a Holiday Inn by Express hotel! The staff couldnt have been more helpful. They gave information about how to get into Birmingham city centre via there courtesy bus to the International Train Station, a train to New Street and a map to walk! The food next door in the Owl Inn was superb and very reasonably priced. Great vegetarian selection as well.

rich from aberdeenvery nice staff but room was a bit too hot and a bit small for being family room but well worth money spend for 60 pounds a night

Break in BirminghamExcellent value - a little bit away from the city centre but good if you don't want the night life.

Window handle was broken, no soap in sink dispenser and toilet roll kept falling off it's holder, otherwise all was clean and tidy. A lightweight duvet would have been useful as the ones we had were very heavy and too hot for us to cope with.

Everything was made easy. They even provided a bus to take us to NEC for £3.50. Saved us getting a taxi. Good service. Car park is £7.

more like a hostelThis hotel is more like a hostel rather than a hotel, reception was grubby, dirty corrodors with dirty linen piled high outside each door, rather than using linen trollys.First hotel that have charged 7GBP for overnight parking

As a base for one night it was ok. A strong smell of urine in the bedroom being covered up by a rather potent air freshener- not so good. Our room was ready for a new carpet! Probably due to previous guests not being house trained I would imagine! Staff were very helpful, position to the NEC perfect, parking good, breakfast good, warm and comfortable room. If it hadn't been for the smell, i could recommend as good value for money.

General reviewThe hotel lobby was being worked on at the time of my visit but it wasn't a major problem. Everything was clean and presentable. Breakfast is a fairly standard continental self service. Not an exceptional hotel but perfectly adequate. I would have no problem staying again if the price was right.

The room was very clean, breakfast was poor and no provision was made for evening meals. As a lone traveller I like to eat in the hotel or have room service at times. Other very good quality hotes in area were giving full breakfasts, and had restaurants. They were not charging any more than I paid for the two noght at the Express by Holiday Inn (over £200.00 for 2 nights)

Holiday Express at Birmingham nec was great for the price. Friendly helpful staff at 1.30am. Clean warm room and breakfast was not bad either. Well worth the money.
