The Holiday Inn Express in Belfast, Ireland was comfortable. The room was clean, with a fairly large bathroom - with a shower only. We had three people in the room and the size of the room was sufficent. The dinning room/pub had wonderful food and a sufficient selection from which you could chose from. The only problem is that the location was just a little far in walking distance than we anticipated. The downtown area was approximately at 45 mins to 1 hour walk.

The pillows smelt of smoke as if they had been used when the hotel was a smoking zone and we felt that they should be cleaned or replaced. Would like two single beds for two children but as we stayed a very short night it wasn't too important. We were very happy overall except that maybe put families to the back as we got very little sleep listening to drunks and fighting in street till 2am.

Good breakfast included with the room. Hotel did not have our payment. Paid twice for the room. Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel was noisy with lots of college kids in the area. I had to pay for the hotel twice and straighten it out later.

Receptionist answered the phone when I was talking to him and carried on with his conversation just ignoring me. Bathroom was dirty - could do with a good clean. Room was fine and it was very good value for money

Staff seemed very friendly, but it really is a basic cheap and cheerful hotel, without being that cheap.

Value for MoneyAs I booked the Holiday Inn Express one month in advance, I got a good deal and all was ok.Reception staff were good, but the place is obviously in need of a major refurbishment. Badly stained carpets all around, including my room. Handle came offf my door and they were unable to fix it: however bathroom and shower had a makeover and were very good, particularly the shower.Buffet Breakfast was good, lots of choice and good quality.Belfast is an expensive place to stay in, due to the dearth of reasonably priced hotels; the Express by HI was good value accomodation for the one night I needed

following good experience at express by HI in hammmersmith was disappointed in the state of the hotel generally, the breakfasts were not as varied, and the whole experience was a lot scruffier.

There are several reasons why I wouldn't stay here again. But the main ones as follows. It took 5 minutes for the staff to open the security gate for car parking when we arrived and it was pouring at the time and I had to stand by the intercom system. The room walls are very thin especially with adjoining doors and you can hear all noisesThe bathroom smelt of sewer drains and got worse as the evening progressed. It looks okay from the outside but the inside is very tired looking

Breakfast was a joke, everything had run out and there was a long wait for fresh food to be brought out. In the end i eat my breakfast by myself ans my husband was waiting in the quene for his breakfast. they need more staff to keep up with the demand for breakfast at certain times.
