Very good parking, conveniently located and nice decorating.

This hotel was clean just an exit away from Monterey Bay and a few mins away from downtown Carmel. Free breakfast and internet. There is a lake and a trail in back of the hotel. Chili's is just walking distance from the hotel. I would defineately stay here again.

For the money, I was surprised at the basic lodging. Reminded me of a converted motel. Walls were thin, bathroom very small. Convienently located near Monterey and Carmel-by-the-sea, but I paid the same price for a B&B in Sonoma the day before and Palo Alto the day after and there was a world of difference. Room was clean and staff friendly and helpful.

Clean. Bad internet service provider, loud, internet pics were deceiving. The hotel itself was nice, rooms were nice, a bit small, but clean and functional. However, on the internet it shows water all around, my room faced a highway with a lagoon or swamp in between. I could hear loud traffic noise the entire stay. The internet worked, but as I am there for business I needed to get an outgoing smtp server - very simple thing to do - the tech support gave me one but the provider was very mickey mouse and it kept crashing, not a reliable provider. There was no restaurant.

The room was very small. It was the smallest room my family & I have ever stayed in. The beds were very small. We only had an option for 2 double beds. There was not enough room on the beds. My husband slept with 1 of our children and I slept with our other child. Very small. However, the room was very clean. Plasma TV was good. There was no option/restaurant available for room service. No refrigerator/microwave in room, etc.

This hotel is a very good comparative value for the money in the Monterey/Carmel area. We paid 99. per night for a three night stay over the New Year's weekend - a steal for Monterey/Carmel. Those expecting the newer look of a Holiday Inn Express won't find it here. This is an older property with updated rooms; exterior corrider w/ 5 floors, one small elevator, and lots of stairs; no mini-fridge or mircowave in the rooms. I thought HIex properties mandated interior corridors, refrigerators and microwaves in their rooms, but this property must be coming in under their radar. Overall the room was very clean. The bath linens were a mix of newer, somewhat used, and flat-out old towels and wash cloths - consistency of linen quality would be a nice improvement. Pillow cases had embroidered 'soft' or 'firm' on them, but I couldn't tell the difference between them. The rooms are smaller, and most likely why there is not enough room for fridge and microwave. Our room had a new HVAC unit and a tube TV while other family member had an older HVAC unit with a new flat panel TV - so they seem to be piece-mealing improvments.I am sorry if this sounds like I am nit-picking, we did enjoy this hotel and surrounding environ's very much - it's a close drive to everything, the rooms were very clean, and we would definetely stay here again - it's not at our expectations for an average Holiday Inn Express.

Very clean room, very comfy beds, quiet in room andsmelled good in room. Many flies outside, dirty outside andlong walk from stairs to room. Although the room was comfortable and very clean inside, the outside was very dirty, looked very old and run down. There was a long outdoor walk to my room from the parking lot, tons of flies buzzing in my face whenever I walked outside the room. Looked like a run down, busy highway, noisy area outside and I couldn't wait to get in my room. Not at all pleasant atmosphere.

The service was wonderful, but we were on the first floor an we could hear people walking up and down the stairs and outside our room. Also if you purchase a handicap assessable and you are not handicapped the room will have everything at about waist level. Good Hotel overall.

We generally enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The views from the beach are wonderful! However, when we arrived, we were told there was an additional 10 parking fee. There was no on-site parking except in their parking garage, and that fee was not disclosed prior to our arrival. The funny thing here is there isn't any way to get to the hotel without a car. It's outside Seaside and outside Monterey. So unless you're a rich hitch hiker you must pay the extra fee. Would I have stayed here if the room charge was 10 higher. Yes. Will I stay here again because I was treated this way. No. The only way I can protest against such silly undisclosed fees is to vote with my pocket book, and to let others know so they can make up their own mind.

Location. Elevator was not working that day. lean and great location.

Don't let the picture fool you. We should have mapped out the hotel because the picture makes it look like you're by the ocean, when the water is actually a pond. The room was clean, but very small and water pressure in the shower was extremely slow. It was decent enough for one night, but I wouldn't stay longer than that. Parking is limited near the elevator if you're on an upper floor, which there are 5. Price was not comparable to expectations.

The breakfast bar was great. Really filled me up and tasted good. The staff friendliness wasn't outstanding. They sort of just did their job instead of really making me feel welcome. I would stay here again and recommend it to others. The room was great, the food at the breakfast bar was great, and the hotel was in tip top condition. I was a bit disappointed that the quality of service from the lobby staff didn't match the quality of the hotel atmosphere. And I thought my room was supposed to have free wireless internet and it didn't. Maybe I was wrong about the Internet but I would definitely return to this hotel again.

The hotel is very nice and comfortable for the price and location. The rooms were extremely clean and the hotel staff from the General Manager on down were very nice and friendly. The complimentary breakfast was very well down. Would recommend the hotel to family, friends, and others.

Nice clean room, great location, nice continental breakfast. Shower pressure low. I thought the staff was extremely friendly, Room was nice and clean. Continental breakfast was very nice, we enjoyed that very much. Location was very convenient to The Naval Postgraduate School so that was a big plus. Overall I would definitely stay with holiday inn again.

Location. Sand bluffs prevent ocean view unless on top floor. This hotel was adequate for what it had to offer and was well priced for the stay.

Nice view from room. Very nice, very clean, very comfortable, and friendly/courteous staff. Nice continental breakfast too. Super quiet and a very nice view of the lake on one side of the hotel. Highly recommended.

The Holiday Inn Express in Seaside, CA met our expectations. We were looking for a room at a reasonable rate to stay in Monterey (or close to) for the last two days of our vacation. The pluses: lovely room, great beds, great location to Monterey, quiet during our stay, the sink area was separate from the toilet area. The negatives: TV did not work when we arrived (staff replaced it after about an hour of fiddling with it). There was no self laundry, which would have been helpful (the desk clerk did provide directions to a nearby laundromat), the wi-fi did not work, and finally the room was a little small. I feel all my negatives are just nit-picking. It was a nice motel and we would stay here or at another Holiday Inn Express in the future.

The hotel is right across the street from the beach. Chili's is in the parking lot. There are many raccoons in the hotel parking lot at night. The hotel is convenient for beach goers. The hotel was pretty quiet. The swimming area is okay. The hotel is very close to several local eateries. The rooms were pretty clean. However, the double beds are full size and not made for taller people. If you are tall, request a king bed up front because they do sale out quickly.

"This recently rennovated hotel has clean, nicely decorated rooms and is conveniently located to downtown Monterey. Very good breakfast buffet is included in the price. Rooms are fully rennovated except for bathtub and surround. Don't know why they stopped there, but bathroom is still in good shape and clean. Located just off a main road, so you can hear traffic(although it didn't keep me awake), but otherwise very nice hotel for the price."
