some friends of mine wanted to visit Worlds of fun and check out the power and light district downtown. The hotel was a perfect location maybe an 8 minute walk to all the action. Worlds of fun was a 15 min. drive. The hotel was a very cute and comfortable room. Parking is not free and we parked across the street for $12 a day. The staff was very helpful and more than nice. My only complaint was the noise factor. We were watching t.v. and received a noise complaint. The t.v. was not even on that loud. Their policy is one complaint and then your out! During the day you could hear people just talking upstairs not even raising their voices just talking. also at night you could hear people engaging in "night time" activities which was a bit disturbing(especially if you have children). It's just an old building and the sound goes right through the walls. Other than that the stay was great and had a blast. So if you are in bed at 10:00 then stay here if not i would suggest a different hotel.

Overall value. The staff was not helpful in giving directions or suggestions for restaurants in the area. It exceeded our expectations as far as how nice it was for the price. There was no parking available, so that was a bit of a hassle. Overall, a positive experience.

I stayed at the Aladdin for two nights on business. I was greeted with a glass of champagne upon my arrival, and was quickly checked in by their very friendly concierge. My room was very nice, albeit a bit small (it was only me so it didn't turn out to be an issue). It was also very quiet at night and I didn't hear anyone out in the halls or above me (might be a slow time of year and not too many guests), but the heating unit was kind of loud when it kicked on (made a loud clicking noise) and woke me up a few times during the night. That was annoying, but it was the only thing I can complain about. The restaurant had good food for breakfast and dinner, with a very nice wait staff. In fact, I found Kansas City in general to be a very friendly place, wherever I went. To sum up: Positives: Beautiful decor, great people on staff (including their restaurant wait staff), helpful doorman, right next to bus stop, quiet, nice restaurant, martini lounge, choice of pillow in room, internet access in rooms as well as business center, fitness center, and did I mention the lovely people who work there? Negatives: Loud heating system in room, single queen room a bit small (but quite nice still), and bed was too hard for me (personal preference here, I'm used to a foam pillow top!). I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling for business! A+!

Nice renovations but everything is mini. Mini elevators, mini doors, mini bathrooms...The service was good at the front desk. The rooms were very cute and retro. Had a few plumbing problems in the first room but they were quick to move us to a new room. Close to the Power & LIght District that was hopping with a live band. The downtown is a little dead besides that area. Make sure you take a drive to The Plaza...it was awesome!

The rooms are spacious, well decorated and very comfortable. Parking costs are high and public parking is not reliable.

I was very excited about staying in what appeared to be a historic landmark hotel in Kansas City. I was going to see B.B. King at a nearby theater the night I traveled, so I arrived as early in the day as possible in hopes of seeing some of Kansas City before I returned home the following day. I ended up sight-seeing with my bags as this hotel does NOT do check-in before 4:00 pm! No exceptions (at least that's what the desk clerk told me). So, I lugged my bags around for over 2 hours. When I finally got into my room, it was very nice. Great television, bed was comfy, room was relatively clean. Views aren't much too talk about. The lobby is beautiful. The inhouse restaurant is WAY overpriced compared to the surrounding area, so if you need a good meal at a decent price, leave the hotel. I did partake of the breakfast buffet (almost $12) and it was good, nothing special, but convenient. I would consider staying here again, but feel like the late-check-in rule should be plastered on any reservation they make from any site with whom they work. I would have definitely arranged my travel differently. B.B. King made the hotel inconvenience insignificant though, the man truly is the King of the Blues! :-)

Our room was next to the elevator so late at night we woke up to loud people arriving drunk from the power and light district, but was only disturbed for a few minutes. Everything else was good, nice room, comfortable bed. Not much around the area for Breakfast. We walked around the area to find something and no places were open except a Starbucks in a Hotel near by.

Beautiful renovated hotel, originally the Aladdin, with much more upscale charm than is typical at a Holiday Inn. Really slow internet connection, the bar and cleaning staff was average. I needed a hotel close to the convention center, and I wasn't interested in being in the conference hotel across the street. The price I got using Priceline amazed my friends. Charming, clean European size rooms were more than enough for my needs, large desk, attractive, and nice bathroom. Individual digital thermostats gave great control of air temperature and fan. This is a beautiful old hotel with small marble lobby and 50's charm. Everything upstairs is much more recent and excellent.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Aladdin in Kansas city January 18th - 20th. THanks , I found out that there is a parking garage across the street where I can pay $12 a day. I used that. A week later I find a $30 charge on my credit card. I called on Monday January 26th and left a message with the Manager. No call back. I called again on the 28th. Spoke to a young woman who said she would PERSONALLY relay the message to the manager. Still no call back. Finally, I called again today and the person who took all three of my calls finally looked into it. They charged me a $30 parking fee. I DIDN'T EVEN PARK IN THEIR GARAGE! Ridiculous!!! So I advise that if you stay there, CHECK YOUR BILL!

This is a cozy and fun place to stay. Staff was very friendly, and attentive. It was conveniently located right next to the Marriot, in the downtown convention area.

Old building that has been renovated. Rooms are nice not too big. Next to power and light district but rooms were quiet. Bought room in a package so I do not know what I paid.

Recently renovated in sheik style. Walking distance to Power and Light district. Loud parties both nights in adjoining room. Self-parking not convenient. Maintains charm of small older hotel while seeming modern and hip with new decor. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were nice, but a bit small as you would expect with older hotel. No view from our room (was of another building). We had bachelor or bachelor parties in the room next to us both nights. Were awakened a 3:00 am both nights by loud talking.

The hotel was nice and pretty, but noise from the adjacent rooms and hallway was annoying. Beware that there is a $15.00 per night fee for parking. I'm sure this fee was in the "fine print" on the check in paper work, but we were not alerted by hotel staff of this extra fee. There really is no other parking option, so just figure on an extra $15 per night tacked onto your bill. We've stayed at roomier, quieter, just as nice looking, and less expensive hotels in the past, and won't make this mistake again.

The hotel is on the national register of historic places and beautifully restored in a art deco modern theme. The beds were wonderfully comfortable, the bathroom was really modern and there was even a flat screen tv in the room. The hotel was super clean and the hotel room service and restaurant were so beautiful and the food was great. I was alone with my two kids and 5 bags and the bell staff helped me carry up my bags and parked my car for a very reasonable fee. I will definately recommend to anyone a stay at this beautiful high rise centrally located downtown hotel.

Great location!! Walking distance from Power and Light district. Great time. Staff not to friendly when checking out and the check out line was long.

Very convenient location for downtown events and easy parking. Older hotel with cosmetic upgrades to rooms. Lobby is old world marble mixed with black and white zebra theme that works well. Beyond the lobby the upgrades are not as well done. Rooms have updated lighting, fixtures and modern flat panel HDTV.

Very unique, nice hotel. As an architect, my husband appreciated the art deco motif. We thought the room was very nice and the towels made into an elephant was adorable. Location is amazing. Everything is right at your doorstep in downtown Kansas City. Staff was very polite and accomodating. We will likely stay again, despite the minor minuses: TV didn't work when we arrived very late at night, but maintenance came up promptly and fixed it; no hairdryer was in the room the next morning when I got up to get ready, but maintenance brought one right up; the elevators are very, very loud, but we weren't really disturbed by it; I never did find vending; Room service was polite, prompt, the menu choices are great, but breakfast was burned and not everything was on the tray when they brought it up - food quality was not great. Zebra Room dining experience for dinner was a disappointment. Service was extremely slow and the dinner was ruined by the extreme cold as the front door was opened and closed and opened, each time sending a blast of cold air into the dining room. Food was dismal. I like the decor, I like the idea, I like the look of the menu, but someone needs to be in the kitchen that actually knows how to prepare food. For the price, I expected much, much more and much, much better.

The hotel was recently renovated and is unlike any in Downtown KC. The Staff was Fantastic and left me wanting nothing but to come back
