I was really pleased with my room's location because I had a window that looked out over the river. I was really pleased with the location of the hotel because it was in a very safe area so I could walk at night in the dark and feel safe. The location was perfect for connecting with all aspects of Charleston and the neighboring states of Kentucky and Ohio. It made driving from and to the airport very easy also. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!

Location. Pool was closed. Was given a room that was already occupied. Good location. Walked in on someone's room due to being given wrong room.

This hotel is an abomination to the the Holiday Inn name. The only thing this hotel has in it's favor where it sits in downtown Charleston. I stayed their March 7-9, 2009, and left the hotel because the hotel was such a miserable stay. My company puts me up in this hotel on a monthly basis, and on this last trip I couldn't take the 80+ degree heat in the rooms, so I left and found a different hotel out of pocket. The air conditioning was broken and the windows do not open to the outside. The hotel manager knew this was a problem, but was unwilling to politely speak with me about it, let alone take action. The bathrooms in this facility do not have a ventilation fan. The carpet throughout the facility is worn, dirty, and showing it's age. The restaurant and bar are priced incredibly high. A domestic beer is $5 a bottle! Furthermore, the mattresses in the rooms are old and very uncomfortable, and don't expect much in the way of linens as the beds are made with mattress cover, sheet, and light blanket. The hotel has NO stairwell access from the inside. You must take an elevator to get from floor to floor. Of the three elevators that service the building, two of the three work the majority of the time at best! From talking to hotel staff, it seems apparent that the owners of this facility are aware that the hotel is in a shabby state, but do not have the resolve to remedy of the problems. AVOID this hotel! I could not stand at this facility and it was FREE. You will be very disappointed by this facility. Holiday Inn-corporate needs to REVOKE this owner's franchise for this facility!

Clean, quiet, good location, great value for the money. The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially the night manager. I bugged him with several questions and problems. He was very friendly, helpful and professional. It's a downtown older hotel at a great price. It's not the best place I've ever stayed, but it cost about 1/5 of that place and we all slept just as soundly.

The hotel had a decent layout and a nice feel as you entered the lobby. The Staff was curteous (although maybe not as competent as I would have liked). The room had a cheap feel to it, albeit a nice waterview. The mattresses were cheap and noisy. Don't really have any other complaints because I checked in so late, crashed asap, and woke up and was back on the road. I didn't have time to take anything in. The Continental Breakfast, if you could call bear claws and apples that, was also Sparse.

Very friendly staff. No in room information about the area or facilities. Lovely staff and very clean, new feeling rooms.

The service desk was friendly, but other than that our stay was awful. We had to check out a day early, and stay at another hotel. Don't plan on sleeping very much here. Hotel was noisy until very late at night. Housekeeping tries to force their way in around 8:00am. I had the chain locked on the door, so they could only open it about 3 inches. They did this 3 times before 10:00am. When I checked out my rooms nightly rate was $10.00 higher than the price that I reserved it for. There was a $6.00 parking fee added. I did not have a car in Charleston, and arrived by taxi from airport. I will be staying at one of Charleston's other hotels next trip.

The service desk was slow and they did not offer any information to any pluses of the hotel (i.e. restuarant/bar/pool/etc.) So we read the information book in the room, however, it was not up to date and the pool that should have been open til 11 was locked at 10. The rooms furniture was pretty but very dinged up. Someone tried to enter the room 3 times around midnight and housekeeping thru the ENTIRE morning! Finally I woke up to find 10 in tax fees had been added to my bill with no mention of that at purchase.

This hotel was very accomodating and comfortable. I would stay there again!

Accommodating. Leaking in bathroom. I enjoyed my stay. The hotel staff was great.

I don't have a choice where I stay on business, but I can easily say that if this was a personal trip, I would not stay here. The rooms are cold and uninviting. The beds are hard and flat. They use an unattached mattress cover under the fitted sheet (which doesn't fit), so within 10 minutes you have thick wrinkles underneath you. Not a comfortable night's sleep. The location is good, and the staff friendly, but I would have to stop there. There are many other options in Charleston. Do yourself a favor and pick one of those.

Great service! Very friendly staff. Awesome location right on the river. Nice upstairs resturant/bar on top floor.

Bed mattress was uncomfortable.Air condition did not produce cold air all day, only at 3;00am it started to cool down enough to make it comfortable.

Convenient location. The room smelled moldy and like smoke.

I was very disappointed with the service and the amenties! Don't waste your money eating at the downstairs onsite restuarant! Other than that, the rooms were very clean...ok to stay if your going there just to sleep.

The view of the river was delightful, but the fitted sheets on both beds would not stay on and I ended up sleeping on top of a bare mattress because I was too tired to get up and fix it again and again.

The view from the front of the hotel was very nice with the river. It was close to the mall and downtown amenities.

This hotel looks outdated from the outside, but is actually quite nice on the inside. The staff obviously works hard to keep the place immaculate, and the location is good for sightseeing and dining; we actually had a river-front room. The windows need to be replaced but this was an otherwise nice hotel.

Large room. AC/heater. Worked well for my travel needs, heat in room failed.

The location was good and parking was easy. However the room was not that great. The tub had mold on the grout. The door was very poorly fitted, and lots of light from the hallway came in around the top, bottom and sides of the door. Breakfast in the restaurant was good, but the service was neutral at best. People at other tables were having trouble ordering and getting their food. I came back through Charleston several days later, and stayed a different hotel.
