Our stay began with greetings from a young gentleman who speedily checked us in. Very informative. Our dining experience at the restaurant downstairs was deliciously prepared, the chefs actually came out of the kitchen with their chef toques on and were making sure everything was perfected...wait staff was very professional. The bar area next to the restaurant had a couple who sang beautifully together, in english, that was nice to sit in the lounge and hear music in the evenings we weren't out doing something else. On Saturday night my husband and I walked down the walkway to Barrio Antiguo, where the night life was sizzling! There were people everywhere! Many different styles in music, totally loved people watching. We didn't go into the clubs but just walking by and listening to all the different music was great. The entire time we were there we felt safe, the staff at the hotel was very professional and greeted us every time we walked through the doors! I LOVE MONTERREY!

The hotel is in a great location and just a short walk to all the wonderful things the Gran Plaza has to offer. The staff were very nice and always attentive. The rooms and all common areas were well kept and very clean.

Excellent customer service. The problem: non smoking rooms are really top smoking rooms. Plenty of hard smoke odor. I think if somebody cover all body and face a lung cancer can be acquired in just one night. The internet speed 254 Kbps? Looks the hotel is still "living" on 1999.

Can't beat the price. Great location. Convenient. A little old fashion, could use some renovating but then they would charge twice as much for sure. Would definately stay again.

This hotel was awesome... free internet (wired).. so if you book someplace else and need internet remember you may get charged an extra * per day... the internet is free and fast and I use it with Skype to call back home to avoid expensive cell roaming. The staff speaks English. Security at bottom of hotel. It is right on Morelos Street which is closed off for shops and restaurants. Lots to do within walking distance. The food is excellent and has 24 hour room service. My room only had a stand up shower, no bath tub. Not sure if all the rooms are like that.. the bathroom is lacking counter space.. however for the price I can't complain. I'm booking this hotel for my next trip to Monterrey. Make sure you check out Cola de Caballo waterfalls.. I paid a taxi driver near the sheraton hotel (walking distance) * Pesos (* US dollars) and he took me there and back for 2 hours with stop at shops, views, etc along the way. It was a better taxi than most of the green ones. The 3 story gay club called Parking is in walking distance.

Mid-level accomodations. Safe, secure, staff tries hard to help. Rooms were surprisingly small, shower, no bathtub. Everything else was fine.

We actually stayed for a week in July of 2006. My son got married in the cathedral just 4 blocks to the east of the hotel. He married a Monterrey native and they now live in Lansing, KS. The hotel staff was extremely courteous and helpful. I drove a 15 passenger van down and the parking garage was too small, but they accomodated us in the check-in area where they had a small 6-8 space parking lot. One night we got back late, and the spots were taken, so they let us park in front of their gift shop and the van was watched all night by the attendant. The food in the buffet was pretty good, maybe a little pricey by Mexican standards. We ate breakfast there a couple of mornings, and went out the rest. We only ate dinner the first night, and it was ok, but was also a little pricey by Mexican standards. I got the best exchange rate by paying with dollars in the 7-11 on the corner by the hotel. I noticed another reviewer suggested Cola de Caballo falls, and I concur, it is a nice trip with beautiful scenery.

"Great location. Very helpful and courteous staff. The bed, however, was stiff as a board. Good breakfast buffet. Rooms facing west have a fair view of the mountains. The free parking under the hotel in the garage was very convenient."

"Our first time in Mexico and this hotel was just the best. Directions to get to it were a little difficult but once your there, its worst the effort. The shops and restaurants are all around this hotel, you do not need to drive anywhere."

"When you're doing business in Monterrey you don't want to stay in these old, poorly lighted, cramped rooms. The power outlets behind furniture are useless for laptops. Food is basically high-fat, high-carb and not-so-tasty. I am disappointed. It used to be a cheerful, friendly, pleasant hotel."

This hotel provides one of the best customer service I have experienced. Extremely polite and thoughtful staff.
