I was there for a high school reunion. I was very impressed with the whole layout. The rooms were spotless and very spacious with everything you could want. The girls at the check-in counter were outstanding and very helpful. Much more than the average hotel.

Great place to stay. Close to shopping, restaurants and a Starbucks. The staff was great and the rooms were very clean with comfortable beds.

Easy access from the freeway. Close to everything. Recived one free meal for kids at Rubys across the way. Friendly staff. Well kept. Very kid friendly. They even offered another guest booster seats for the shuttle. $* for a Monday night during spring break. They didn't have any trouble with a family of 5 staying in the same room like other places.

The exterior of the hotel was a little run down but once inside the room it was very clean. My wife didn't think it was the best but agreed that it was very clean. There was a TGI on the hotel property and few other restaurants across the street in the outlet mall. I am not sure whether I would return next time I am in Carlsbad. The experience was neither outstanding or regrettable, just OK.

Clean, modern rooms. Nice shower. Took 45 minutes to check in. Arrived 11:00 pm. Ridiculous. The hotel staff at check-in was absolutely horrible. We arrived at 11:00 pm, tired, just wanted to get to our room and get to sleep. It took 45 minutes before we were checked in. The room was nice and shower was great, but we'll never stay there again.

This is a clean hotel... close to everything.. This hotel charge way to much per night... and i have not a clue why they say it's on 22 acres. I thought is would be more like a resort...

This hotel has the best location and the most friendly staff. Also took advantage of the KIDS EAT FREE program to save tons of money. The complimentary shuttle to Legoland was a plus and we will return next summer. Mark A

Holiday Inn By the Sea has a great location near Legoland and the area's beaches. There's an outlet mall across the road and several restaurants to choose from. However, it is pricey, like most every hotel in Carlsbad and SoCal in general, so be prepared to spend alot for what you might consider average in other parts of the country.

Nice TV, comfortable beds, pillow menu, helpful staff, close to beach. No free breakfast. Would recommend to those going to Lego Land or the beach. Wish they had continental breakfast. Nice flat screen TV, friendly staff.

The hotel offered great service, all their employees are always cheerfull and glad to help. The convenince of having so many restaurants near by and not to mention the outlet mall across the way. Yea the rooms are not as new as some other hotels but the property makes it up by offering great consistant service and it looks like the cleaning crew make a great effert to keep the rooms clean. Kids eating free at rubys help me save some money and also the breakfast is so good. The children enjoyed the pool thank god it was heated. cant wait to visit soon.

The staff was great and the hotel was very convenient to everything I wanted to do. I was very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. There rooms were great and the amenities very good. They provide a kids eat free which helped save money and the staff was excellent, friendly and very helpful. They never complain about how many towels we use at the pool, I traveled with 3 kids and they use a lot of towels, we totally like this hotel. I would recommend staying here.

The Holiday Inn is near everything. The Complimentary shuttle back and forth to Legoland was great. Tke Kids Eat free worked great for our family as well. Everyone on the staff from the front desk to our maid service were not only helpful but went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. We enjoyed our stay so much we plan to return again next year.

It was in a convenient location. My room looked over the dumpsters and there was hair under my covers in the bed. This hotel was in a great location! However, I was not impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel, nor did I like that it was a motel and the gates locks were broken.

We took a short weekend trip. We went to Legoland, which was very close, but this hotel is about 30 minutes away from all the other sites in San Diego. That would be the main reason I wouldn't come back. I would want to be closer to the city. Hotel was fine, not fancy, but I did not expect it to be. On the first morning, I tried to go the TGI Friday's on site for breakfast. There was not a soul in the place. Holiday Inn is not using them for their restaurant anymore. Instead we got "kids eat free" coupons from Ruby's Diner across the street. It was great for families and the kids ate any meal free (B,L,D) so we ate through several times during our 3 day stay.

The whole family loved the Holiday Inn Carlsbad. This hotel has the best location. It is nearby everything you need! It is just around the corner from the beaches and Legoland and accross the street from a beautiful shopping mall. They shuttle you to Legoland and back for free. The rooms were spacious and clean and everything worked. Also, this Holiday Inn has the most friendly staff. .A great plus is their Kids Eat Free Program for all meals which saved us a lot of money. Thank you Holiday Inn. We will see you again next year.
