BEWARE!! Guests are charged to park in the hotel's parking lot. We were charged $15 per day. Even if your room is prepaid, they still require a credit card or debit card at check-in for a $50 per day deposit that is charged to your card. It takes 3-4 business days for the money to be refunded back to your card. The exterior and lobby of the hotel are attractive and presentable but the room was rather old and and worn. The carpet in the room was rather dirty. There was no continental breakfast because they have a restaurant/bar inside the hotel. There were no other dining options near the hotel. No swimming pool.

Price. There was a prison out side my room and thePA system was on all night. It was okay.

Just trying to get to this hotel from 95 was an absolute nightmare. Then to boot they charge for parking 15$ which is not stated anywhere on there site or when you call to make reservations. They charged me THREE TIMES for parking against my card although i paid for parking with cash.Breakfast ? forget it 25$ for two people to eat.And believe when i say i have eaten better meals cooked by a six year old.The rooms were at least decent, but to me thats a very small part of the equation.Theres many other hotels in better locations to the airport to choose. Never again would i stay here

It is an older hotel that has seen some renovation but still needs some more. It is a good hotel for short stays at an airport.

I have never written a hotel review before and I probably won't again, but after one night at at this hotel I knew I would be making an exception. There were so many problems with this hotel that I made a list of those things in order to come here today and write about it. Okay. The place was difficult to find because you need to navigate some very thick spaghetti-like highways around Newark airport to get to and from this hotel. (I would get very detailed directions from google map, and have another person to navigate.) Parking is $15 a night. No refrigerator. No restroom fan. Service was hard to find and didn't seem very knowledgeable -- when I asked, they did not know when the buses came. I left for the day and put up a do not disturb sign, but when I came back that night they had come in anyway to fix the sheets. But I could tell they did not change the sheets or pillowcases, they only made the beds. (I asked the desk people if they normally change the sheets, and the response was "usually".) Also, they gave us a room right next to the elevators, which meant we had to listen to them rushing up and down all night (it turned out okay, we pretended it was a windstorm and this made it easier to sleep). Bathrooms near the lobby were not fit for use and needed maintenance.

I called many times to the front desk but nobody answered... so I had to come down to the front desk if I need something!!!

Nothing. We had 2 rooms, each dirty, tub didn't drain, blow dryer ripped off wall and gone, unfriendly staff, $20 charge to hold our bags for a few hours. This hotel was not what we expected. We had two rooms. It was dirty and smelled badly, the bathtub didn't drain. In one room the blow dryer was ripped off the wall and gone. The curtains were torn and hanging so you couldn't block the light out. In the morning we asked the hotel to hold our bags for a few hours. They charged us $20.00 even after telling them about the problems in our rooms. We got no apology and the clerk just said "oh well" I've never had a hotel charge to hold bags before. The restaurant had OK food but grumpy wait staff. I would definitely not stay at this hotel again.

This was a great hotel and the price was right. A few things about there that I did not like was 1) the location it was at. Meaning that if are driving there its very very easy to miss the hotel. 2) Not told about an extra fee of 15.00 $$ per night fee for parking. That is not a realy big deal but I wish I knew that before hand. Other than that it is a very cheap way to see New York City. Plus if you want to go even cheaper drive to Penn Staion anbout 10minute drive from the hotel and take the Subway into the city. That worked out great and kept me from driving in. Prices for parking nere Penn was 6.00 to 20.00. I found that the prices was based on how far you want to walk to the Subway and if you want or needed to get your car at a certain time...IE before midnight. This was the cheapest way that I found to see NYC. Its just getting back to that hotel that messed with my head a few times. Other than that heck yeah I'd stay again! Oh and the bar was a great place to hang out after walking all day around NYC. HAVE FUN

The location is excellent, close to the airport and pretty quiet. Elevators are very fast and the staff is pretty efficient if not very friendly. Restaurants pretty good. Room was in need of work - some lights didn't work. Tub drained very slow; wasn't fixed after complaint. Remote control for TV mostly worked, but on/off never worked. Hair dryer switch is touchy. All in all, not too bad but not what it could be (or was).

The first of 5 nights was diasterous to say the least. The room was paid for in the month of January but I was emphatically and belligerently denied entry at 8:00 pm until I produced a credit card. This is a ridiculous policy for anyone who pays for lodging a month in advance. Furthermore, when my wife used her credit card the manager in poor taste asked if the card was real. I found no humor as onlookers sighed. I'm a licensed and ordained minister who has tons of patience and a keen sense of humor but to travel 650 miles from home and be insulted like this is absolutely shameful. This same night manager saw me two days later after receiving my ministerial card and addressed me as "what's up big fella". I plan to write the national office with this complaint. Thousands of my parisoners will never stay at the Holiday Inn. And I hope they spread the word.

Staff was slow, terrible and not helpful! The hotel was dirty... I had a large roach fall from the ceiling onto my shoulder and in my room as well. Hotel staff had no care for the situation.

This was nice hotel, normal rooms, with a decent location in regards to the airport, but please note that there is nothing but a prison and other hotels in the near vicinity, and you will have to drive to go anywhere/do anything. One huge problem is lack of food options, and I will say they have options on site, but the prices are ridiculous for food that is not even close to what the selling price is. The "chicken tenders" were nothing more than gas station food at best. Something else, $15 a night for parking? Seems like a rip-off to me, but I'm not used to paying to park at Holiday Inns. Even so I would stay here again if I was visiting Newark, or was on a lay-over... However, if you are staying here to explore NYC on a budget, I'd suggest staying somewhere else. Even though the price to stay here is cheap, by the time you factor in the parking fee, transportation costs to the city, and the headache of figuring which transportation route to take, you could stay in Manhattan for almost the same amount... Bottom Line: It's not the rooms or the hotel itself that is the problem, so all of these people complaining about it like it's the worst hotel room they have ever stayed in really need to get over themselves!

We stayed at the Holiday Inn in Newark because it was so much cheaper then staying in NYC itself and it worked out great. They had a suttle that took us to the airport everyday and from there we took a bus to NYC and it only took about 1/2 hour. We would definetly stay there again it wasn't real fancy but the room was very clean and the staff was very freindly.

I liked the water pressure in the shower. The staff was rude. I did not get the room I reserved. I was not informed I had to pay to park. I was very disappointed with my stay at this hotel. First, my room was not what I reserved. Second, the request I made at the front desk was ignored. Upon check-in, the fees that I would be charged were not described or even mentioned. Upon check-out, the front desk clerk was extremely rude to me and did not seem to care that I was unhappy with my stay. Also, the breakfast is far too expensive, and they do not offer any other options, we did not get any breakfast before leaving. They said they had wireless, but it was not working, and there was not a mini-fridge in the room for keeping snacks/drinks.
