a disappointmentbooked this hotel following an early morning flight into birmingham airport. the shuttle bus only runs at limited times so had to pay £10 in a black cab. on arrival, the night porter said he was in the process of checking us out as we had not arrived, even though i had made it clear on the booking that we would be arriving at 3am. the mini bar in the room consisted of one can of pop and what looked like some half eaten fruit. there was limited tea/coffee and not even a spoon to stir it with. there was no shower gel in the bathroom dispenser. room was shabby and i was glad i wasnt staying there longer than a few hours. on checkout, the receptionist was barely pleasant and again the shuttle bus was not running so we had to get another taxi to pick up the car. would not stay at this hotel again - will book the novotel at the airport where we have stayed before - the service and facilities are miles better, but unfortunately they were fully booked.

Loved their buffet style English breakfast. Inadequate car parking. Had to ask them for a space. Very convenient for business travelers to Birmingham. Clean and efficient. Only downside was lack of parking as they are using part of the car park for heavy plant.

The Holiday Inn Birmingham Airport was obviously under refurbishment and managment. Everyone we approached at the front desk were trainees so it took us almost an hour to get checked-in. In the later afternoon I asked if they could do an online airline check-in for me for the next morning, I was told they were too busy, come back later. The room was satisfactory, only extremely small. All we wanted was a space to crash and recover from our travels. It was fine for that but I would not recommend for anyone who planned on doing business or depended on the hotel amenities.

Shocking, better to stay at the Holiday Inn Express or Premier InnI only stayed here as I thought that the food would be better than that available at the Holiday Inn Express 2 miles away. How wrong was I? After the first encounter with their food I actually ate at the pub next to the express anyway.Low points:Room was very tired and dated.Quality of service was poor - had to wait 15-20 minutes for a pot of tea at breakfast even though there were only about 5 tables out of 50ish occupied. Checkout was unbearable.They are having extensive building work done meaning that the place is noisy and parking in severely restricted. I had to drive to the local NCP to park - ok so I didn't have to pay but......High points:None

Surprised by charge to park car.Did not expect a smoking room and as a non-smoker the room did not smell fresh would like to have been given the option of a non smoke bedroom.

Stayed at this hotel before.Hotel breakfast good, rooms adiquate, although renovation was going on at the time, so a little noisey. I would totally recommend booking through late rooms as we save a fortune.

Not what it appears to beI chose this hotel because it was offering a free shuttle service to and from the airport and it is a well known name. I called the hotel from the airport to request a shuttle pick up and was told I needed to take the shuttle train to the train station and go down the escalator to the taxi rank and wait there as a shuttle for the hotel would be coming soon. I quickly made my way to the taxi rank (a six minute journey) and promptly stood to wait for the shuttle for 25 minutes. It did not come, I found a pay phone and called the hotel - they informed me that the driver had been there and waited for 5 minutes. I saw shuttles from other hotels but not for the Holiday Inn. They said they would send him again - just wait at the taxi rank. Which I did for another 25 minutes - again no shuttle. I paid 8 pounds for a taxi to the Hotel, a 5 to 6 minute drive up the road. The receptionist was adamant that the shuttle came for me twice! By then I was frozen standing outside all that time waiting and I just wanted to get to my room. When I got to my room, the heating did not work so I called reception and was told someone would check the boiler - 15 minutes later I was called and told the boiler had turned off and was now on and I should be able to turn the heat on in a further 15 minutes which I did - it still registered a fault and would not heat my room. By then I was so fed up I wanted a cup of tea, under the duvet only to discover the kettle led would not work unless held firmly in place at the kettle connection. I went to turn the TV on only to discover the remote would not work and I had to operate it by hand - reception on the TV was questionable as well. After getting nowhere on the heating situation (I had three layers of clothing on) I asked if I could at least get another duvet. This was brought to me and I just went to bed to keep warm. In the morning, I took the shuttle to the airport - it definitely was never at the pick up point to col

Average hotel for ok money. I've stopped in better for less and eaten better for less but for what we paid and for the night we were undertaking (Paul Weller at the NEC) I wasn't too fussed.It was clean and liveable. The breakfast the next morning was good value although not piping hot all the way through but I tend to find all buffets are like this.On the whole I would stop here again if I were to see a band etc as the location was great for the NEC.

Staff could be a bit brusque, but mostly ok. Hotel is clean and food is ok, great for me as I prefer food to be plain rather than covered in sauces.

We ordered room service breakfast, we dialed reception who put us through to the kitchen who told us this was wrong, and they put us through to the restaurant. After repeating the order three times to a foreign sounding man, he told us bfast had already been taken under our room number. We assured him this was not the case. When the breakfast did finally arrive, (bowl of fruit and croissant for me, cooked bfast for him) we got my order twice, and his order was cold, missing items and toast and jam added (not requested). I was supplied with a knife and fork for my fruit and croissants. It's not that important, it's only breakfast, and the order probably got lost in translation. But at least have people with good English taking food orders, and people with some common sense preparing the trays!

It was a very enjoyable stay, the room was spacious and very nice, a comfortable bar area and the breakfast food was delicious. The hotel was easy to reach from the motorway.

Thought it could be better signposted from the A45.Only one real complaint was with the payment. I have had £80 instead of £61 taken from my account. The hotel staff tell me it is normal proceedure and that I will be refunded in the next few days. My point is , what would have happened if I had only £70 in my account? This was not explained to me before payment.
