Great location and facilitiesMyself and my boyfriend stayed here for one night as we were going to a friends wedding in York. The location is fantastic, being a 15-20 minute walk into the centre of town. The hotel is a good size with plenty of rooms and good value for money, breakfast being included - which was a selection of fruit cereals coissants juices, full english, toast etc. I have to say that the bacon was clearly fried and was covered in grease, it would have been much better grilled. Other than that, the breakfast was great. The room was comfortable and had all the facilities you would expect from a b&b.Staff were friendly too.

City break in YorkGood location, excellent food and friendly staff. Room a bit dated and basic but clean and comfortable. Ideal for a short break. Good parking space.

Hotel staff very friendly - let us check in early and leave bags the next day. Only a £5 taxi from city centre, and could have used buses. Very good overall.

The hotel is located a good 10 min walk into the city centre. But onsite parking was free and a bus stop is right outside the hotel. We stayed in room 11 which was a family sized room. Very spacious and comfy. Nice bathroom, again, larger than average and clean. Breakfast was nicely cooked and plentiful. Only critisism was the decor is looking a bit tired, but would stay here again, as the service and general feel of the place was fine.

The room had recently been painted and the fumes were overpowering which got to my chest causing me to cough...The bed was very uncomfortable, obviously very old....The people were very pleasant and chatty....Breakfast was freshly cooked and hot....It was situated 15mins from the town centre which wasnt a bad walk, but a bus services was regularly available....

A little disapointed on arriving back to the hotel after theatre visit @ just after midnight that we couldn't get a drink.

The hotel is a former Victorian residence which I would guess was converted into a hotel in the 1960's. The original house was quite impressive with high ceilings etc, but in much need of redecoration. An extension has been built to the rear of the property, which is where our room was located. When you went into the room there was a heavy smell of room freshener, which was supposed to disguise the damp smell which pervaded the room. The shower and toilet were separate and were very small with only a shower curtain between the bedroom and the shower/sink area. The bed was of very poor quality and smelt musty. We would have moved immediately but York Races were on at the time, so all hotels full. Unless you want a seriously budget hotel then give it a miss.

The hotel room decor was very dated. The cooked breakfast was very greasy and I was not able to eat it. We stayed in a B&B the night before which was £12 cheaper and much nicer and better quality.

Excellent location for either walking into York or catching the bus (it stops outside the hotel). The Hotel decor was a little dated however it was very clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the quality and choice of food was excellent. I would definately recommend this hotel as an ideal base for a visit to all of York's tourist attractions.

Accomodation was basic, and the food although plentiful was definately bargain basesement with unimaginative vegetarian option. I think I could have got more for my money with a B&B.The staff were very helpful and polite. Free parking was available and the hotel was very convenient for York centre.

Easy to find hotel. About a twenty minute walk into centre of York. Nice entrance to hotel and room comfortable. Friendley and helpful staff.
