This was an unexpected value in an ideal spot on the Big Island. This resort is enormous by most comparisons and there is plenty of space to roam. Activities are plentiful and the service is friendly. The cost of dining at the resort is high and there are many extra services available for a price that could double the cost of your room on a daily basis if you took advantage of all of them. The pools are very clean and well built. We visited in early June between festivals and before the schools let out, so the number of guests was low, which made the experience even better. The walk from the parking lot to your room can be as much as 15 minutes. Trams and boats are available to move you but waiting for them can be troublesome, so be prepared to walk. Even if you have to walk, you are treated to a awesome display of artwork so we had no complaints about the extra exercise. The lagoon and oceanfront are spectacular. We had difficulty leaving at the end of a relaxing week.

The hotel is nice for the price and anything else is very expensive (parking, restaurants etc).

We stayed in the Ocean Towers which is 1/2 mile from the Lobby! We only took the tram maybe four times in the entire week. It was so much quicker to walk unless the tram was parked at your starting point. When we got on the tram 4 of the 5 times we still had to wait upwards of 15 minutes before it would leave! This was frustrating. Our rental car was located another 1/2 mile from the lobby and we were charged 12.00 per day. The restaurants on site were very expensive and often times not open. The food was fair at best at the hotel so we ate off campus. We ate at the restaurant at the marina toward Kona and had a fantastic fresh fish meal at a more than fair price. We also ate at Roy's and although it was pricey, the food was fantastic. The artwork in the hotel was interesting, although no plaques describing anything about the piece which was extremely disappointing because you couldn't really appreciate something that you did not know was authentic or not. Internet was 14.95 per day, which we thought was excessive. The dolphin pool was very interesting, but very small. There isn't a beach however if you follow the southern beach path you eventually run into a small beach that is well used by the locals. You can snorkel here as well.

The rooms are noisy, we could hear our neighbors. The rooms are simple equipped. Not even a coffeemaker in a lagoon view room! The resort is in the middle of a lava field. You have to spend your vacation inside the resort. Because there is nothing in the nearby area! The volcano national park is about 1.5 hours driving. You better search in Hilo for accommodation. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The park is maintained beautifully. But personally this was my last vacation in a Hilton hotel. I do not like to pay 60 dollars to park my car 4 days at my hotel in the middle of nowhere. Even in Waikiki we received a guest parking card for 7 dollars per day!! The food at the Hilton is very expensive and the quality is not that good. You have to go to the shopping mall for other restaurants. At the reception we received free discount coupons, but all were expired in July, and we stayed in the Hilton in September. And you had to wear big plastic wrist bands at the swimming pool. The snorkel rental is very expensive. Rent your gear at Snorkel Bobs (e.g.) and bring it with you. The equipment is not that fancy (super market quality) and they charge you an awful amount of money for it. (In the food market at the nearby mall you can buy snorkel gear for $11.00) Personally we didn't feel welcome or at home in this resort. But if you like Las Vegas - style and you have a lot of money to spend you should definitely stay here.

My wife and I have stayed at the Hilton Waikoloa Village on 7 separate occasions. Most of the other reviews are accurate. This place is one of the most beautiful resorts in Hawaii including Maui. The resort is huge and very spread out. So be prepared to walk or you can wait for one of the boats or the tram. If you don't want to or can't walk too far, you should stay somewhere else. We usually walk because the scenery is to die for and it is good exercise. As others have noted, stay away from the resort restaurants, they are very overpricy and the food is not very good. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby at the King Shops (Merrimans and Roys), up the road in Kawaihae (Cafe Pesto and Tres Hombres), or down in Kona (Kona Brewing Company or at the Kona Yacht Harbor). Make sure you ask for a room that has been updated or you will probably get a room that does need updating. All in all, this place is a little bit of paradise and I would highly recommend it with the above caveats.

The Hilton Waikoloa village is a fabulous resort, perfect for families with youngsters. The hotel amenities and staff and location made our vacation on of the best.

I dont know what some of these reviewers are talking about! Me and my friends love going to this hotel especially. There's so much to do and see there, you can't walk 5 feet without seeing a new piece of art in the hallways. And there is a beach! Anaeho`omalu Bay or A-Bay is very close. And besides the once in a while small boat that comes in, its a great place to relax on the sand or in the water. And the beach is so big!The pool looks very great, my friends are always telling me it's so fun! there are so many pools, and one has a slide. So, I've never actually stayed here, but me and my friends love to go shopping at the King and Queen's shops, and walk around the hotel, and riding the boat and tram thing is fun also. Walking around may be difficult for people that arent used to walking that much, but you just have to have time to take it all in, there is so much to see here!I will be staying here for about 3 days though soon for our senior prom.

This is a gorgeous hotel that is more of an experience than a location. From the moment we stepped on the boat that takes guests to their accommodations, I felt that I was in an adult Disneyland. The pools with waterfalls are beautiful, the landscaping is gorgeous, and there are many available activities for adults and families.

We stayed for 8 nights. The entire stay was a disappointment. They did not have foam pillows available. The safe in our room malfunctioned and locked our medications in it until security could come to fix it. The radio in our room was broken, the replacement did not work properly either. The iron was broken and needed to be replaced. The topper was our bedding: the sheets had not been changed for 6 days so I took the bottom sheet off and left it on top of the mattress cover, thinking that the maid would get the clue to change the sheets. When we went to use the bed there was no new bottom sheet on, and the old one was still in a ball at the foot of the bed. When we went to eat at the outside dining area we requested our burgers be medium-rare. We were told that all the burgers were well done and were pre-cooked (for 12.95) The resort was very spread out and had a tram service and boats that took you from building to building. We ended up walking most of the time because the trams and boats were rarely there and we didn't want to wait 15 minutes. My wife went to the spa to schedule a massage and hydrotherapy treatment. She requested that the attendant show her the hydrotherapy tub. When she went back for her hydrotherapy treatment the spa attendant took her back to an area with regular whirlpool tubs. When my wife questioned why they were not using the hydrotherapy tub she was told it was broken and that she would have to use this tub instead. (which she refused_ The valet service was 17/day and it often took 20-30 minutes to get your car. DON'T GO!!

Good hotel, things are too far away from rooms, such as valet, pool and stores.

A beautiful place and setting with a lot of great touches. In its prime this hotel was one of the worlds best I'm sure. We used the spa and were not that satisfied however the rest of the hotel was impressive. A great romantic getaway for the Kona side of the Island.

Amazing, grounds are beautiful and so much to look at and do. Restaurants are very expensive and hard to feed the family without spending a fortune, very large and gorgeous, but parking is a long way from rooms, boats and trams are slow, but fun. Definitely the Disneyland of Hawaii! Wonderful for families with small children who don't eat much and just want to play in pools.

Overall for families this is the Disney World of Hawaiian resorts, with its lagoon, day camp, multiple pools and slides - but for honeymooners - the resort is too huge to have any intimacy for couples. If you don't take the boat or monorail to your hotel tower, it felt as though you are walking for miles to get anywhere.

The hotel is large and has a tram or boat to take you different part of the resort. It's good for young children but the restaurants are expensive.

The hotel grounds are expansive with a wonderful collection of Hawaiian and Asian art nestled in meticulously manicured gardens of over 20 acres. The monorail and water gondola, inter hotel transportation make this a magical experience. The hotels lagoon is home to sea turtles, eels and tropical fish for all the guests to enjoy snorkeling with.

Lovely location and beautiful grounds! A very enjoyable vacation. It was great experience to take either boat or tram to get around the 64 acres of property. Watching the dolphins was great fun, but probably would not recommend it. We stayed in Oceans tower, but would recommend the Lagoon tower if you want to be more centralized to best pools/restaurants and the dolphins!

This was the best resort which I have stayed in many years. Well worth the money and wished I would have planned for a longer stay. Will repeat this trip to the same resort again and will tell everyone about our wonderful stay.
