Beautiful public areas, good rooms, overpriced healthclub, poor breakfast, nice people. Very expensive roomrates when comparing with the many other 5* hotels. Next time we will take one of the city hotels, where everything is on walking distance, and the rates 60-80% cheaper!

This older Hilton Hotel is located on the bank of the Nile, outside the city center. Perfect views guaranteed (allowing a meager 4 for LOCATION). And it should, as there is very little or nothing to do in the area, other than a visit to the nearby Karnak Temple or a 60 minute trip on a felluca sailboat. It has been completely renovated (something that was badly needed). At the same time, somebody at management level must have lost touch with reality, and introduced a NO DISCOUNT price policy. This has made it, by far, the most expensive hotel in all of Luxor. It has probably also one of the best (and most expensive) SPA's in town Would you dish up USD15 to have your shirt washed when you can have a new one MADE TO MEASURE for less at one of the excellent old-fashioned tailors in town? No wonder that they run at an average occupancy of only 3% in Summer. With just a few rooms booked, you'll have the restaurants, spa and pool area all to yourself. No wonder that there is no justification for a Breakfast Buffet. I heard from friends that they serve a 'Continental' one 'á-la-carte'. Luckily there is an excellent choice amongst 5* hotels with much more realistic views on how to fill their beds, and similar views on the Nile.
