The beach in walking distance is not swimmable, but the hotel is in a convenient location on the East Shore, where you can get to many restaurants and shops and beaches by easy drive. It has a nice looking lobby and pools. Our room was decent and the gym was bare minimum. Staff were hit and miss; some were friendlier than others but overall they seemed to have lacked professionalism and knowledge that you would expect from a high-end hotel. Overall hotel experience was only marginally better than the average, but no major complaints.

Price was right. Dated. Correct and comfortable. No frills but good value at the Priceline price.

The rooms were clean and the grounds were well manicured. Location was good and close to restaurants, and a small shopping mall. Great vacation destination for a good price!!!!!!!!!!!

They charge for parking and limited security. Had nice view of beach and pool from our room, grounds were very nice, secluded area.

Loved Lihue, including the Hilton with the exception of the noise we heard nightly coming from the Shutter's Lounge and other parties utilizing the hotel conference rms by the gift shop. Rooms are small. Otherwise great stay.

The Hilton is perfectly located on the island if you want to spend the majority of the time at the hotel walking the beaches and just relaxing. The airport shuttle was very convenient and only 5 minutes from the hotel.

The hotel staff was outgoing and genuinely courteous. Pool was amazing, as was the beach. Not a lot of selection on the menus at the different dining establishments and the prices on the menus were very high.

My wife and I spent our 25th anniversary at this hotel in an "ocean view" room. The room was small but very well appointed, clean and well maintained. The ocean view was JUST as good as an "Ocean Front" room: paying more for "front" doesnt make sense. Hotel food was on the crappy side, not recommended. Otherwise it is a very nice accomodation and place to stay if your not just going to "hang out" at the hotel. The staff is very attentive and helpful. Because it was our anniversary, the hotel provided a complimentary bottle of 'bubbly' to our room. Not the best stuff on earth, but a nice touch nonetheless. They make every effort to correct mistakes. The activities arrangement service screwed up the date for our boatride, but the hotel made up for it by allowing us a late checkout at 7PM the day we left. The hotel is located in an EXCELLENT spot: exactly HALFWAY to anywhere on the island. If you want to explore Kauai (and you SHOULD) you'll appreciate being in the middle of everything. If you like an EXCELLENT buffet breakfast then go to the Marriott in Kalapaki...same price as the Hilton's and MUCH better. Otherwise EGGBERTS at the Coco palms shopping ctr is a great place to eat. For Dinner, DUKES at Kalapaki beach is tops for fresh fish- a little pricy but worth it. for Pizza go to PIZZETA in Kappaa..it is, in fact, 'Mo Betta!' The only caveat we have is the "vacation ownership" sales pitch...unless you really are interested in owning something like that, the 100 'credit' or day at the spa for one person is not worth the 2 hours of lost vacation time.Overall we had a great 9 day experience and do plan to return.

The island was beautiful, we don't usually stay in resorts and this may be why. The Hilton staff was very friendly but has a lot of hidden costs in your stay that were not mentioned when purchasing the room. Housekeeping is loud starting at 7am, so if you get a day to sleep in, it's ruined. Parking was $12.95 per day and to access internet was $12.95 per hour!!! Luckily we found a free hotspot, but this is ridiculous!! pools are great and grounds are gorgeous. Great food at the restaurants island wide!!

The pools, falls, hot tubs were a hit. The kids loved the koi. The water slide was not clean. We loved the pools, & restaurant. Our view to the mountain was ok, a little disappointing. The kids did like to sit on the terrace 1st thing in the morning. The ponds with koi were enjoyed by all.

We stayed here for a short weekend and it was fabulous. The beach is not a swim beach, but they have great tide pools, and there is a shallow sand pool with chairs for kids to play while well supervised. Free mai tais from 5-6, parking fees included in room fees, good menu at pool restaurant (that's the only place we ate). We would definitely go back to this hotel! Kauai is expensive--so be prepared. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful, room service was prompt. Overall, a great hotel for a much needed mini-break!

First, the hotel and pool is beautiful. Coming in through the front lobby makes you feel like you're stepping into a world-class resort. The rooms are moderately sized with comfortable beds. Also they have a nice happy hour with $3 mai thais and polynesian beers. With that said, there are a few drawbacks. The location of the hotel is alright. It is close to Lihue and some other bigger towns but it is not close to any of the best beaches. The beach on the property is not great because the waves can be too powerful. and the views from the hotel only look out on the pool because it's difficult to see the ocean. It seems like they nickel and dime you. You must pay $13 a night! for parking and $13 per 24 hours! for in room internet access. Don't we live in the 21st century? I thought with a place like the Hilton, you wouldn't have to pay for internet. Thankfully, when I booked through Orbitz, the parking fee was taken care of. Finally, one item that would have been very useful is a microwave. We could store our leftovers but had no way of heating it back up. We even called the front desk to see if there was one somewhere in the resort and we were told no.

Beautiful grounds and location, friendly staff and I loved the free Mai Tais. My room was at the end of a hallway next to an exit door which slammed when people would close it. Located on the eastern coast of Kauai, the Hilton Kauai Beach Resort is convenient to attractions on both the north and south sides of rugged Kauai. While minutes from the airport, it's snuggled down by a quiet beach in the town of Lihue. The on site dining is terrific and the friendly and gracious staff are more than willing to clue you in to their favorite secret restaurants on the island for those who want to explore the local cuisine. Hilton recently purchased this property and after a significant investment have given it a full makeover so much so that it looks like it was built from the ground up to cater to your needs.

I asked for a room facing the pool on the higher level. Our room was moldy smelling and one of the chairs was wet! We were moved to a room facing the other side which we liked better because it had a nicer view of the ocean and the green fields below. We enjoyed walking the beach and the complimentary mai tais each afternoon and the food in the restaurant was really good. Each evening we enjoyed watching the torch lighter and the entertainment by the pool or in the lounge. Our room was on the small side for what we paid. The pool was cold and it was in December so we never swam in it. The jacuzzi was great, the ambience of the place was romantic and comfy. My husband and I decided we're not 'resort' people, but we would highly recommend this hotel for it's great location and beauty.

Highest priced hotel on out stay in Hawaii and then we had to pay parking for ever night. But their towel for the pool was a real insulting program for what is supposed to be a first calss hotel.

Good food, nice pool, friendly staff. Stuffy rooms, small bathroom, small fitness room. Was a good hotel for one night but would not want to stay there for the entire week in Hawaii. Room's small and beach not very nice.

Overall we are satisfied with our stay at the Hilton Kauai. Here are the things that we liked: friendly and helpful staff; free shuttle to and fro the airport which is on the same road, only 5 minutes away; we had a late night flight, so they allowed us to store our luggage in the store room while we are out and about during the day; the hotel room is very nice and contemporary, and soft pillows and bed; the room looks brand new; ours was overlooking the small lagoon and a partial view of the ocean; the resort is not very crowded so we feel like it was a real get away; it was really quiet, big difference from O'ahu. Here are some of the things we didn't like: the beach is not swimmable at all; they only have a couple of restaurants which we thought were extremely overpriced; we were forced to rent a car because the shopping centers and off site restaurants are not close by. A car is definite must in order to explore the beautiful island of Kauai. Overall we liked our stay but next time we will try another hotel.

Convenient location, friendly staff, lovely pool area, great rooms. Dining room staff in evening and bar staff in evening needs some help. Great hotel with a resort mentality. Staff was so very friendly, room was clean and well appointed. Pool area and small man-made beach area were just great to spend some leisure time. I would highly recommend this hotel for the price and the service.

My wife and I spent 5 amazing nights at this hotel and we absolutely loved it! When we checked in, the girl at the desk allowed us to "shop for which ocean view room we wanted." We got a room closest to the ocean which was so tranquil and amazing! The property was so well maintained and was being cleaned daily. Hotel was very private and secluded, so if you want quiet this is the spot!
