Fantastic location, great amentities, and best pool ever, your kids will absolutely love it! My one complaint is that the staff was very inconsistent. The staff at the pools, stores, dining/restaurant, valet were great. But the consierge service and front desk staff for the most part were not very good. Not helpful at all and definitely needs classes on what customer service is all about. Very abrupt and it is like pulling teeth to get any information. It is too bad to since the consierge and front desk staff is the face of the hotel. Inspite of this I still would recommend the Hilton especially for families with kids. My kids can't wait to go back to the Waikoloa. I would have rated my stay a 5 star experience if it was not for the inconsistency of the overall staff.

he grounds were great.

Just spent 7 nights/8 days at the Hilton and although the grounds were very nice, the lagoon was good for snorkling and the pool and waterslides were fun, those were the only highlights. The room was a very standard "hotel room", nothing special and the distance to get to your room from the main lobby even with riding the shuttle was quite a haul. We usually added 20 minutes onto our departure time to get from the room to the self park lot and out the gate. The pool although very large and there were several of them, they were freezing cold. Here's the important part. The prices for everything were beyond expensive and borderline insulting. Cheeseburger and fries ($17), smoothie ($8), Latte ($7), dinner at Chinese restaurant for two with one drink each ($110), 24 hour use of internet ($16), one week of internet ($99), swim with the dolphins ($350, twice the price of Mexico and only half the experience), etc. etc. I fully expect to pay a premium while on vacation, especially in Hawaii but c'mon...$17 cheeseburger? The saving grace was Queen's marketplace just down the street. Reasonable food prices and plenty of local tastes (try the fried bananas at Paradise Grill!) Definetly go to A bay next to the Marriot for the beach and snorkling and while you're there just have the Hilton send over your bags and stay. The Marriot is almost as nice and much more reasonable.

On arrival at the hotel we were greeted as we checked in with a cool refreshing towel. This was absolutely wonderful after traveling. I would have loved to have more casual dining choices at the resort. A shuttle from the self parking lot would be nice.

Everything was wonderful. Some of the prices. From the time we checked in to the time we left the service was perfect. The food was great. The lagoon was the most enjoyable part of the big island for me. I had read some bad reviews on the boat or tram transportation to the rooms and around the resort let me assure you if your on holidays to kick back and relax they are great they come about every 10 minutes. The tram provides air conditioning and the boat offers a relaxing ride where you can sit back and relax even take it around the resort a extra time. We ate at the (steak and seafood restaurant) can't remember the name. It was our splurge for the big island. And had the breakfast buffet in the ocean tower all food was excellent. I didn't want to leave.

We just stayed for 9 days. The grounds were beautiful but the service wasn't 5 star. Our shower had a broken handle so we couldn't use it until it got fixed, with no apologies or compensation from the hotel; everything was OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive (from a $4- Diet Coke to a $8- Smoothie); the pool was freezing cold; the room service menu, which was also OVERPRICED, was very limited; EVERYTHING was extra including internet; and customer service was non-existent! We happily stayed here when it was owned by Hyatt and the experience was 100% better. We wouldn't stay there again.

Awesome hotel except some rooms are soooo far away from the entrance. The only thing missing is a beach

The private lagoon with tropical fish and turtles swimming in the waterfall. The cost to eat at the restaurants - too expensive to eat at the resort. Astonishing, amazing, beautiful, memorable, its like a little paradise a top a fluffy white cloud!

Lovely place on the shore line, great pools, waterslides and boats to take you from one side to the other of this great resort. There is beautiful, well kept landscaping and an ascian art museum. The lagoon with a sandy beach was fun for little toddlers to swim and play in. You can also take the train In addition to the boats from here to there. It is a very nice place for young families with small kids. I did not like the eating places it was too expensive and not much to choose from. It was also too quiet in the evenings, no music or entertainment, Next time I like to stay in a smaller place closer to Kona and have access for some evening entertainment. Five days was enough, it was very relaxing and we had a great room with view over the ocean.

First of all, this is a beautiful hotel. Having said that, the food is ridiculously overpriced at the restaurants. If you get a room in the ocean tower you can count on waiting for 5 to 15 min to catch a tram or boat to ride to your rooms. otherwise, you can walk the 1000 plus steps from the front desk to the ocean tower (we counted it one night). The workout room is small, hidden in the Kohala spa, and has no windows or view whatsoever. In spite of these shortcomings the staff was extremely friendly and helpful when we needed to change rooms due to the shower and phone not working.

Excellent resort facilities and beatiful grounds. Huge resort - can take 10-15 minutes to go from room to lobby. Very large resort with beautiful surroundings and rocky beach(not suitable for swimming).

We spent four nights in this hotel during our Christmas Big Island trip. It was a great place to stay. My girls went to the Dolphin Quest. They played in the pools and the pool slides all the times and did not want to go any other place.

We went to the luau at the resort. It is standard luau that had a high price, but it was conveniently located. My whole family enjoyed the food and show. The pool is large and had a few water slides that my children really enjoyed. We also liked snorkeling and kayaking in the ocean lagoon. We saw lots of fish, turtles, and an eel. There was not much of a beach there, so some guests elected to drive to nearby beaches. There is alot of walking around if you end up in the Ocean Tower, but it was a pleasant walk. We had a great view of the ocean from our room on the 8th floor. Food at the resort was expectly expensive. Many people bought groceries at local stores and brought them to their rooms.

Beautiful grounds. Food very expensive on site, nothing close as an alternative. I've stayed here before, so I am a repeat visitor. The grounds and pools are beautiful. You can be as involved or as removed from it all as you choose. The food options are OK, everything is rather expensive and there are not a lot of low cost alternatives, especially for breakfast. With that said, it's Hawaii and things are typically more expensive for dining. Convenience to golf and shopping nice, guests receive special rates on golf which is very nice. I fully recommend this resort.

Rooms were clean and comfortable, Food and drinks very expensive but food was good. Ruth Chris steak house down the road was less expensive and better. Stop at Costco before you get there. Birds very annoying in the dining areas. Kept going after your food. The birds are also very loud at night as they nest in the center of the buildings and are kept awake be the lighting. Pool water is on the cool side. Nicely kept grounds, goods for the kids.

This hotel is enormous and not actually on the beach at all. If you stay here make sure you pay extra for a lagoon tower room because it can take 30mins just to get from your room to the lobby from one of the other towers. This is a family oriented resort, tones of kids running around. Depends what you're looking for because I can see it would be great for a family, but not so good for a romantic couple. Excellent pool. It really annoys me at 4-5 star hotels when they charge you for everything (and I do mean everything) that made it a 4-5 star hotel. You pay for everything you do here, $15 internet, $25 parking, $26 breakfast buffet, $25 to use gym, $45/hour to use a canoe in the lagoon etc etc etc. Lots of restaurant options but none of them have particularly good food, and for ridiculous prices, i.e. $17 for a cheese burger and another $5 for fries with it. If you're a couple looking for a romantic setting I would recommend forking out a few more dollars for the Mauna Lani Bay hotel and Bungalows, where I stayed immediately following the Hilton, which is a 5 star hotel and way, way better, not to mention that everything is included here, so you'll end up spending the same $ anyway.

hotel was clean and staff was good. Had a Disney-Land type feel, needs a face-lift to bring up to date. Accommodations were good, resort must have been great 10 years ago, and not it looks a bit dated, although still clean. Getting from rooms to parking took a long time.

Stayed 4 nights in September. Unlucky for me they were taping "Wheel of Fortune" in Hawaii at the hotel while I was there and this disrupted the enjoyment of the hotel for other guests. Even so, this is a fantastic resort. It is beautiful and clean and comfortable. Its so big you never get the feeling that its crowded. Of course the restaurants and shops at the resort are very pricey, but one mile away there is a food court and a super market with decent food and good prices. I had a very relaxing time and the hotel staff is great. I very much enjoyed my visit.

Having never spent any time on the Island of Hawaii, we were pleasantly surprised. We arrived late at night and were not able to see much of anything, but the resort driving up was fantastic. Early morning, we enjoyed a walk around the premises after a quick breakfast buffet (worth it)! Very well done! Would have appreciated coffee available in the Palace Tower, especially after such a long previous day. All in all the staff was informative and friendly (course you will always find a few that you really wonder how they keep their job with the market the way it is)

Great location, attractive property. Housekeeping could have been better; need to use tram or boat got annoying. Very attractive grounds, nice rooms and amenities. The property is so large it takes a while to get from your room to your car. Ocean view from lanai was wonderful. Restaurants are exceedingly overpriced. Housekeeping could have been better. Staff was friendly and helpful. Pools are very nice.
