If using this hotel while on a business trip to downtown L.A. the location is great. Proximity to the area we visited not as close as described by mapquest, considering highway traffic time. The fitness center was adequate. The room was comfortable for 3 adults. However, housekeeping did not supply sufficient towels. We had to ask each day for additional towels. The mattresses and pillows were too soft for our taste.Parking expensive, but other reviews alerted us to less costly alternatives. Staff was friendly and responsive. We did not eat in hotel.

No fridge in standard suite, parking too expensive on weekend, NO Free internet access!!, overall cleanliness was ok, but not great. Hot tub and pool were really nice on 13th floor. Front Desk personnel were very helpful. Vallet parking staff was quick to get your car.

In LA for the weekend, including Sunday afternoon concert at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, up Bunker Hill 1/2 mile from the Hilton. Also walked to Fashion District and Staples Center and had easy access to Dash buses and Metro rail for Chinatown and Union Station/Olivera Plaza. The Hilton staff was attentive and professional. Check in with my Orbitz reservation was a snap. Check out was equally easy. Enjoyed using the fitness center and rooftop hot tub/pool. Orbitz offer of third night free made it the best bargain I found for a hotel of this high calibre. The Hilton Checkers has a nice low-key intimate boutique feel, compared to the grandiose, busy feeling across the street at the Biltmore Millenium, where we ate one evening.

Elegant boutique, sized hotel, very comfortable and well maintained.

I booked and received confirmation through the travel website for 1 night, March 29,2008 at the San Fransisco Hilton Checkers Hotel. Upon my arrival and check-in, I was informed by the Checkers Hilton staff that the Checkers Hilton had overbooked that night. I was then told my reservation would be honored at another hotel some distance away. No explanation was given for the overbooking excuse. I booked the Checkers Hilton to be within walking distance from an event we were attending that night and a second event the next morning.. I now had to pay cab fare to the events and back to the hotel for events that was supposed to be a short walk away. I find this to be totally unacceptable behavior for a major hotel chain. When I tried to explain to the desk clerk that the second hotel had a less expensive room rate, I was told that the room at the second hotel was paid for, but no refund was offered.

I have nothing but positive comments about this hotel. The only negative was that it didn't come with a refrigerator or microwave which could have come in handy. Otherwise, it was a perfectly pleasant stay.

The staff was friendly, the hotel was comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean comfortable and conveniently located. Valet was a bit expensive, but I've come to expect this in the city so it wasn't a surprise.

For our honeymoon, we reserved a suite for only one night with plans to stay at the Peninsula for the remainder of our stay. We loved it so much, that we canceled our reservation at ""the other hotel."" Yeah-baby...can't wait for our 2nd honeymoon!

We have stayed at the Hilton Checkers many times and have never been disappointed. We enjoy staying at smaller, boutique hotels. The Hilton is updated, comfortable, clean, and quiet, and the staff is friendly and eager to please.

I chose this hotel because it is in downtown LA where I was gonig to be at the end of a day of business meetings. I read the reviews and though they weren't sparkling, they weren't bad. It's safe, clean, has a restaurant/bar. Not great rooms but not horrible. Nothing fancy and not badly priced.

The staff at this hotel were all professional and caring, I couldn't fault the service. The food was a very high standard, although a bit pricey, but no more than comparable hotels. The roof terrace was lovely; the pool was small but clean and heated to 90 degrees which was great and, as it wasn't busy, the size of the pool was fine. The hotel had a lot of character and style and my son and I really enjoyed staying there.

Very nice accommodations, very comfortable bed and beautiful location. Wonderful staff and again, the bed was very nice. Everything was clean. Though the workout facilities were almost nonexistent and the pool was tiny. The view from the roof was gorgeous and I would stay here again if the price was right.

We had a great experience at the Hilton Checkers. The room was spotless, the bed was very comfy, and the room was a good size for a downtown hotel. The food at the bar and at the restaurant was superb and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Our only complaint is that the parking fee was quite expensive.

Desk staff was extremely courteous. Parking was terrible. You had to pay and it was not even close by. The hotel was beautiful. The hotels Front desk staff was extremely helpful. She even asked if we had visited the area before, What our plans were for the evening and provided us with a detailed map of area restaurants and a map to our destination for the evening.
