Hillside Country Retreat Bed & Breakfast York

We invite you to come and visit us on this expansive historic property situated at the entrance to York, Western Australia's first inland town in the heart of the Avon Valley. The town is steeped in history, boasts many wonderful old buildings and is only 97kms from Perth city (a comfortable hour and a quarter's drive).
Hillside was built in 1911 and formed part of the estate of the pioneering Edwards family who lived here for many years, conducted business in York and were finely woven into the fabric of York society in WA. This is reflected in the wonderful architecture of this grand old, much loved house conceived by the famous Sir Talbot Hobbs which in its heyday, hosted visiting royalty and other dignitaries.
Today, we continue to lavish it with care and attention and devote many hours to the continuing establishment and maintenance of its rambling gardens and extensive grounds. This is the perfect holiday getaway, with the option of self-contained cottages or bed and breakfast accommodation. We look forward to sharing its peace and tranquility with you.

BED AND BREAKFAST:
Built of rammed earth and completely separate from the main house, each room is large and spacious and has a private entrance and an undercover parking bay. Our rooms are individually furnished with antique furniture and period memorabilia but while guests may feel that they have taken a step back in time, they never forgo any modern conveniences.
Each room has high ceilings and pleasing garden views. In addition to private bathroom facilities (inclusive of a hairdryer) and a separate sitting area, each has a television, DVD, VCR, CD, radio and complimentary videos and DVDs to help you relax after a busy day.
For your convenience tea, coffee and fresh milk are supplied along with a bar fridge. Comfort during our hot summers is provided by air-conditioners or optional ceiling fans while wood stoves, electric blankets and reverse cycle heating ensure snug surroundings during winter months.
We have five queen size bedrooms en suite, two of which have a spa bath.
Following a restful night's sleep, a generous cooked or continental breakfast is offered in our charming tea house which is situated in the gardens, a short walk from the bedrooms.

York stages several Festivals during the year including the Olive Festival in June, the Jazz Festival in late September and the Spring Garden Festival in October. In addition, there are other attractions such as the Photographic Awards, the Antique Fair (at Easter), the Healing Fayre, the Art and Craft Awards and the York Agricultural Show to name but a few. Why not book into Hillside with a group of friends and share quality time together during those special weekends.

Our local attractions include many historic buildings and activities such as skydiving and hot air ballooning. Vintage car enthusiasts could while away their time at the York Motor Museum and lovers of history would find much to interest them at the Residency Museum.
