Lovely hotel, great staff. Loved the bed and the breakfast. the girl Melissa called my taxi for me, helped me print out my boarding pass was really nice and knew the area. I would love to come back and bring my wife. Priceline needs to upgrade this hotel's stars, it needs to be a 5 star.

The staff is the best, the bed I had was like home. This was a business trip, this time but I am already making plans to bring my wife and children here, they will love it!

Call the hotel directly, just a word of advice. The hotel was great, perfect location.

First time to the states, great place. Really good prices, and the location is great. If I come back to the states, I will stay here. Too bad I cant rate it higher.

Expedia/Hotels.com should upgrade this hotel's stars to a +10 because you can't find a better place in Birmingham !

when I saw this place on Orbitz, I was okay. It's not costly, it wont look like the pictures on their site. But WOW! I was really glad I was wrong. This is really a great place. I've stayed at the areas "flag-flying" hotels, tried all the chains. But I wont again, this is my only place in Birmingham.

I actually stay here at least 4 to 5 times a month. Sometimes I walk in, sometimes I call the morning I need to be there, or the day before. No matter when I am there, I am always treated better than I have been treated anywhere else. That's personal service, when all the employees know me by face, and I feel comfortable. You can't ask for a more "family" feel.

We saw this hotel on the internet, and called to book several rooms for 2-4 days. What a wonderful place! A true hidden gem right in the middle of everything! From Melissa at the front desk to the valet service you receive the very best of person to person service!

I come here twice a year for 8-10 days at a time. I began when the Pickwick was new, now I come back to The Highland, and choose nowhere else. The staff is wonderful to me and do everything they can to make my stay better each time.

I have been here 5 different times, they totally changed everything that was the Pickwick, complete re-do, new management, new employees. New rooms, new everything. I will not stay anywhere else in Birmingham. This is the best of the best!

The hotel did a huge renovation in 2007 and wow this hotel is like something out of New York or Chicago. Everything is new and bright.

We were in town for a convention at the Jefferson Civic Center, 1.8 miles away. So convenient! Beautifully located on a hilly tree-lined street. Pretty view from the window. Happened to be 4th of July weekend...watched fireworks from room. Public parking probably would not have been a problem had it not been a holiday. Had to pay $18.00 for valet. Room was very clean. No iron but they brought one soon. Staff was very nice. And a really nice breakfast selection with GREAT coffee. Slight old, cigarette-y smell in lobby and elevator but none in room. Would gladly come back and stay longer.

Centrally located. Great Staff, very accommodating and well worth the rate. Wouldn't stay anywhere else when in Birmingham!

Excellent room for the money. The staff was real nice too. I brought my two year old grandson with us and the staff doated on him. We were very confortable we ate outside the hotel at a BBQ place called "JIM and Nicks" ...excellent. We did not have to use the valet parking. We used the parking garage next door for 4 dollars. The room was so very nicely decorated I did not fell like I was in a hotel. Lots of pillows on the bed.

The parking garage is next door to the hotel, and without a room key you have to go all the way around the block to the front door, unless you're willing to pay for the valet parking. Since it was raining hard this was a real pain. The thermostat in the room was set on 50F and the room was like an icebox. Other than that we had a great stay and I would highly recommend this hotel for a fun weekend or longer. There are plenty of good restaurants and bars within a block of the hotel so once we got parked we didn't use the car for 2 days.

Close to where I needed to be. Bathroom very small. The room was very nice and bed was comfortable but the bathroom was very small, for the price. Glad I got the roomthrough Priceline.

The experience of a lifetime. What a great hotel to stay in when visiting Birmingham. Completely different than any other hotel that I have ever stayed at. Warm, Inviting, Friendly, Chic and Cool. Thank you for allowing us to having this experience.

Enjoyed our stay but Birmingham needs some serious city planning for the streets. Very difficult to navigate. Hotel Highland was very nice. [...] is still working there and found her to be very nice. The entire staff was very friendly and the lady at the martini bar treated us to a free drink....something nice she came up with. Would visit this hotel again.
