Good City Break Hotel
Date of Stay:

The location was super and made up for the short comings of the room with a glass door both entry and shower. With mixed family it presented privacy problems that was resolved with a blanket over the door. The continental breakfast was good but a $10 charge per person was over priced. In the evening there was no place to have a warm drink and I was not allowed to have any tea or hot chocolate from the food area. I am used to America where continental breakfasts are free and hot drinks available anytime at no cost. When we traveled to other hotels in Burgos and Bilbao the same type of continental breakfast was offered at a price and no warms drinks offered in the evening. The rooms were much larger though and much more privacy with the bathrooms. I also found them a cleaner and were in the same price range. The staff was friendly but unable to communicate with the English language very well but as they same "when in Rome" We were able to travel out of the city very easily with tour buses to Segovia, Avilla and Tolado. We visited much of Madrid staying a total of 5 days. We were able to walk to the Prado and took the metro to several places such as the Real Madrid Stadium. Compared to other trips it was great and was all that I exprected. I would do it over agan but propbably change my Madrid hotel.

Had the best shower of any hotel I have stayed in Europe. The bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable. The hotel overall was a good value. It was centrally located and in walking distance of shopping, dining and site seeing. The Plaza Major was within walking distance as well as the food market. The palace is with a 15 minute walk of the hotel. Really only needed to use the train to go to Toledo.

I have been in Europe a couple of time so I know you cannot expect things to be larger like home. Everything is small from coffee to hotel rooms. This place wasn't actually that bad the staff were ok, room is good for one person, might be a little cramped for two people. Bathroom very good, strong shower, and good options with nozzels. TV is flat screen with plenty of channels so it wasn't that bad, but like I said good for one person for a short stay. I would stay agian for one or two nights.

The rooms look okay, but it's low tech, not high tech. Front desk workers rude. Beds are hard as a rock, and cleaning crew never does any dusting.

Location. Very noisy, caved mattress, very small. We were not happy with the hotel not able to secure our luggage overnight when we went for a short trip to Toledo and returning the next day.

weekend stayWas in Madrid for a weekend wedding, my hotel stay was just right. Perfect location as in the heart of all facilities needed, such as shops, food and attractions and metro. Room was for three to share would provided enough space and another to sleep. Room is alittle dark, and surrounding noise can be loud but soon drowns out. Rooms were nice and clean, would of been nice to be provided with tea and coffee though considering there was a miny bar. Staff at this hotel are very nice and provided good customer service at all times. My only negative point was why does the bathroom door have to be transparent that others can see in that needs to change. Plus as the bunk beds was right next to the bathroom door, the frame kept hitting against the door as the door seem to open outwards too. Which was annoying, and caused me nasty accident with regards to the bunk bedding flipping. Otherwise my short stay was great.

The room was cramped. The hotel had a breakfast but no restaurant or bar. We could not get ice for our room. We stayed at several 2 and 3 star hotels which were much nicer and had more to offer. This was the most expensive room we had in the two weeks we spent in Spain and the least desirable.

Room was very small and dark, looked out onto an area housing air con units, not much of a view, which is why the curtains were permenantly closed. Air con in room noisy and went off when you removed the key card so after a day/evening out you returned to a sweltering room. Breakfast room was crowded, but food good. No bar in the hotel was a shame but there's plenty of others locally. Gran Via itself, at least the part from the road the hotel is on up to the metro station, is sometimes populated by some less desirable characters.

Not suitable for wheelchair bound customersWith this hotel being listed as having disabled facilities, I presumed it would be okay for myself, I am wheelchair-bound. I had to enter and exit the hotel via the breakfast room, which was pretty perilous going straight out onto the street. The bathroom is totally unsuitable. The toilet is too low, the one bar that they have it in the wrong position... there should be two drop-down bars. Even though there was a shower, the floor was tiled and a fairly lethal when wet, there should have been nonslip flooring. The hotel did try by providing me with a shower chair, which if I was one of Snow White's seven dwarfs, would have been okay. There was no way for me to alter the height of the shower chair. I don't think it's through any fault of the hoteliers themselves because I believe that they are totally unaware of the needs of a disabled person. Our holiday in Madrid was fantastic.

Great area, near everything, theater, metro, museum etc.. It does not face the main avenue, I like to see the night life. The Hotel was great, great service, clean, safe, I highly recommend it.

A big thanks to the Madrid staff The receptionists were excellent. They actively sought ways to help and were at all time cheerful and friendly. The hotel was on a very city-central site ...convenient to the metro and amongst good eating houses , shopping and entertainment centres. We could not have found a better place to stay.

Great location right of the "Gran Via & 2 blocks away from Chueca. Small Rooms. This is a great Hotel for it's price. The rooms are small, but that is not such a problem. Clean place and near the Gran Via "It's a great Deal for the Price. The staff are extremely nice and helpful . A few steps away from Chueca without the price..
