A little disappointed but overall a nice hotel!Firstly, the location is great! Just across the road from the beach and a few minutes walk to the shops, always a bonus! First impressions of hotel were good, clean and tidy, friendly staff but then we got to our room. Nice view of the sea but that was about the best thing! The room decor was very outdated yet fairly clean but the bathroom was a little dusty and there were hairs in the bath left over from the previous occupants. The shower was very old and the water temperature was temperamental. The worst thing however was the room temperature at night, it was boiling! The radiators were not on (and believe me I must've checked a hundred times!) and with the windows open it was very noisy. Being 6.5 months pregnant the heat was unbearable and we eventually decided that a noisy fan was preferable to noisy kids, drunken revellers and sirens from outside! I think the first night I got about 3hrs sleep! Daytime wasnt much better and the hallways were stifling. The breakfast in the morning was nice, continental or fried then things like scrambled eggs with salmon costing extra. We had room service for dinner the first night, fairly quick but had to wait a while for the drinks to be brought up as the waiter had to go back downstairs to get them after bringing the food! We had dinner in the restaurant the second night, expensive for what it was, but I unfortunately was taken ill as we were sat at the table (nothing to do with the food!) and I didnt get to eat mine! Hubby was very happy to eat it though! Wouldnt recommend having the juice as a starter as it cost £4.50 but as I either couldnt eat or didnt like the other choices, I chose this but didnt expect it to cost that much! At breakfast the next morning, the staff were really nice about me taking ill the night before and asked if I'd like to sit by the open doors and kept asking if I was ok throughout breakfast! Have stayed here several times over the years, hotel is consistently comfortable and clean.Fabulous location.Was thankful for the desktop fan as the hotel is always too warm, even with the radiators off.

A brilliant location for shopping and entertainment. We had a room at the back of the hotel, small but adequate although very hot, no air conditioning. However, would certainly return. A new restaurant/bar in process of being built which would be a huge asset.

Good location! Thats about it...Firstly, its a good location. Right opposite the pier. However if you have a front room dont expect a good nights sleep. Out room was top floor front, overlooking the pier. That was the ONLY good thing to be honest. The room was extremely dated and dirty. Hairs in the bathroom and dried snot on the shower curtain. Cobwebs everywhere. If you are under 50 years of age the the decor was NOT good. However by the age of the customers at breakfast, it seems most people were over 60, in that case your room was probably more modern than your home. Its very tired and needs soom TLC. And unless you are on a special deal and for only 1 night, then avoid!!!

Wow.I was really impressed with this hotel. In a touristy place with a million hotels, this was lovely. I'd not wish to pay the full room rate, but to be quite honest it'd be worth it as the service is excellent, the food great and the room massive.I'm not a 'touristy' location fan, but if I had to return to Bournemouth then I would stay here again.

Nice hotel shame about the parkingThis is a nice hotel, perfectly located. The staff were not over friendly but certainly not rude. The room was pleasant with a new bathroom. Breakfast was average. Only problem would be the carpark, not very big, difficult to park and its possible you will have to double park and go and move your car for someone else to get out. Having said that, they did allow me to leave my car in their car park for a couple of hours after checking out. Would probably stay again.

Very good value for money. All the staff were very friendly and always available to help. The only downside was that the rooms were made for very small people! The bed was a standard double bed but far too small for someone who is 6'2\" and a partner to have any sleep at all! The bath was also very short indeed not making a very pretty picture during bath times! Still we had a lovely time and would stay again.

We were first given a room which was a comtable size but was hot to the extreme even though no radiaters were turned on.The walls were hot! We asked to change and was given a smsller far less atractive room. It was still 'warm' but did not feel as hot. However it was in the night and even with the window open we had to use the fan which was already in the room (at that time of year !)

Free parking out front is spot-on as the seafront location is ideal for anybody looking to get about town. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. When I arrived I was informed that I had been given a free upgrade from Single to Double Room with a Seaview! Plenty of channels on the flatscreen TV. Kettle with coffee, tea & biscuits. Ironing board, hairdryer and fan all included in room.I didn't get back til the room until quite late (2am) and there was some confusion about getting in to reception as it was barricaded off by plants and there was no buzzer to call staff. Eventually I got let in by a member of staff. Check out at 11am, but the staff were kind enough to let me use the car park for a couple of extra hours as I went into town to meet friends. Overall, I am delighted with the Hermitage Hotel and will definitely recommend it and will use it in the future.
